        nice ,affordable and safe”

my room was spacious and clean.transportation was organise well.the food are delicious.the master dive are friendly and very kind.. Highly recommended ad sure i will.come back.here again..

I have a very pleasent experience staying at Arung Hayat Lodge. Every moments were so sweet and still fresh in my mind. The tranquility surroinding was the main factor I choose to stay here. I prefer the calmness and peace at night. I dont want my slèep interupted by noises from dunken or loud music. This is perfect for those who dont crave for nite life. Thank God for my stay here was safe and secure with the present of the security personal (police marine) nearby.Booking and confirmation was afst with the help of Mr Suffian the charming executive reservation officer. Transportation arrangement was excellent eventhough the boat ride was quite rough.water splash all over us due to windy hours but this didint dampen my spirit to enjoy the beauty of Mabul serene nature.(we depart from a remote port, not from the town port). I stay in room no1 with aircon,Rm300 per room for 2 person, full board(bf,lunch, dinner)I love the food so much.I forgot to take piçture.Meal sellection waa adequate. I m so glad that seafood such as crab prawn is not in the menu since i dont eat thse.Every morning the local fisherman come to sell fresh crab prawn n fish for 20 per 1 bunch.can ask the cook to cook for you for a small tips.Hot water for making cofee are provided.on the other hand thr quality are alittle difeent from the top at our home- brackish water. Its ok for me.Gor conveniencr please bring along your toiletries stuff , for they oly supply one small bar of soap, a towel and roll tissue.Mr Tony and Kanon were great MD guys. They were very tolerateand patient on snorkeling and diving. This is my first snorkeling and diving experience ..yet i felt so eureka cool and fantastic with thier help.my big thanks for great effort to make my vacation more meaningful.I saw so.many turtle and fish swam around me was fantastic.i Two days and one night was mybshirtest vacation ever and sure its not enough kto explore many other atravtion here.the ne dive was just an eye opener.

        Diving, Ocean, Friendly staff

It is a proper divers' place. If you are looking for a luxury holiday, then Arung Hayat is not suitable for you. During our stayed there it was Hari Raya and staff there were enjoying their once a year festival rather than focusing on providing good service (especially food). But overall is good. All the staff were friendly and attentive when they were around.

        Nice see, difficult island”

The very friendly and efficient work of the hotel staff, the position in front of the see, the nice mood that the place and the staff give you

To Stay at arung ayat was nice, but I have to say that Mabul is a difficult island because the reef is very far and complicate to reach without a boat. From the arung ayat peer is quiet impossible to make snorkeling alone with a boat, and you HAVE to go on the other side of the island to snorkel from the beach, and even there is very difficult cause of lot of boat. A part of this Mabul is very nice, vary peaceful and you have to visit.

nice staff, great food, beautiful view

To my surprise great, the house built in the sea, you can sit by the house in a daze, reading, chatting, watching the sunrise and sunset, the staff super warm, you can quickly become friends with them, and someone will play guitar & sing every day, he will be very enthusiastic to teach you, the hotel has a large exclusive restaurant, free daily meals, there is a new kind of meal you can taste different dishes, it is important that the taste is very good. The room was small but very comfortable, cleanliness in general, due to in the island so there is no hot water to take a bath, but it is ok. In short, everything is perfect, I would spent the most relaxing 3 nights, I miss the food and the staff, I think I'll back again.

Very friendly staff and diving instructors, Beautiful ocean views, One of the best places to learn diving

This place is awesome! I have the best vacation ever, and made lots of friends there including diving instructors. They are all super nice and friendly, we go diving and snorkeling with them during the day, and sing and play guitar with them at night. I was scared of water, the instructor was with me all the way through my snorkeling to make sure i was safe. The hotel rooms are not the best, very basic accommadation. Don't expect the same living condition as those luxury resorts, but you can't beat their price. And the food was good too unless you are really picky. Anyway I can't wait to come back next year.

        Basic but brilliant”

The staff are great, the food was good, the diving was incredible

Our overall stay was great. On our first night perhaps not brilliant as we stayed in a room next to the dive centre, which was noisy and had rats inside, however we upgraded for the remainder of our stay (for a small fee) to an air conditioned room in a quieter location. The staff were great and very helpful (even showing us all the way to the bus station from the boat dock in Semporna). The food was always very good local food, with a varied selection of fresh fish or chicken. The diving was relaxed but we always felt safe and had such an amazing time. We were made very welcome, and did our best to sing along to the evening guitar sing-a-long every night! I would say that as long as you don't expect 5* luxury, (this is very much a comfortable back-packer stay), then you will love this place!

        The staff was friendly. ”

Friendly staff, close to the sea,

Nice, but the staff didn't manage to get my diving permit for Sipadan. You Can only get to the hotel on specific times with a boat! Food ok. Bed and room ok, but awful bathroom. Choose VIP room for better toilet

        ocean is crystal clear

When you booked please understand that boat transfer included if you travel 8.30am from Samporna town and 4.30pm from Mabul island..if not you need to pay extra boat charges of RM100. The meal provided is enough for you to eat so no need to bring extra food from home. Electric using generator, which will only available from 1pm-3pm and 6pm -6am...so please stay away from the room during non-elcetric time...it's hot.

        Simple Accommodation at Mabul ”

The property is constructed above water located amongst similar resorts and surrounded by stilted houses. Accommodation was clean and tidy. Bed was a little hard but hot shower and bathroom adequate. Boat transfers were arranged fairly efficiently to suit timetable and should be sorted with property prior to arriving at Semporna. The general areas of the resort were a little tatty and not well maintained and meals were hit and miss. On meals there are not to many options outside the resort thus it maybe wise to plan ahead and bring anything special you may require or perhaps place an request. They do not serve alcohol at the resort but diver jeff/reggae bar next door but one has a bar which is close by and accommodating. They also serve food. I would have preferred a more organised boats/activities schedule but this was not really the case with our visit and we decided not to take them up on the boat hire with no confirmed timing etc.

Great diving, nice friendly staff, poor room”

        Diving, food, staff

Booked diving package which didn't include AC which was a major let down. Had to pay cash when arrived to upgrade which was disappointing. Diving equipment was poor on first day but they replaced from day 2 which was good. Diving was great around Mabul and Kapalai, but do not expect any Sipadan permits. They will arrange with another dive company but you will have to pay full price to them! Food was OK, but they do buy fresh seafood from sea gypsies and it is as fresh as it can be, and cooked beautifully! Room and bathroom is definitely low end of backpacker scale but everything else was great.

Good base for diving Scuba Junkie”

Was the only accommodation we could get on Mabul. Very basic but kinda cool being on stilts over the water. We only slept here as we spent all our time at Scuba Junkie, which is a 7 min walk away through the village. Disliked that the toilets, shower and wash basin emptied straight into the ocean below. Did all our toilet needs at Scuba Junkie who eco treat their waste.

Peaceful , for family with younger children and for own sweet kind of space”

We booked the deluxe aircond room (and it was great as we had the whole corridor to our own ). We have our own corridor overlooking the (boat - highway) , and facing the sunset (captured lots of beautiful family moments). Visibility was good as we can see the clear sea water right in front of our room. Food was not good ( pls bring own bread /tuna/ spreads , and coffe/3in1), lunch/dinner was not provided but hey! it is not an issue - you can either bargain from the Local Bajau Laut for their fresh seafoods - they sell them in their sampan, or you can walk around for cafes by the locals. Dont expect much of a proper , nice reataurant - you are on an island , so just adapt with the surroundings. We opted for family BBQ - so we had our own space at the deluxe aircond corridor. It ws fun (we managed to bargain (Rm100) , for 4ikat of crabs, 6 mantis shrimp, 4 fishes , and almost 1 kg of shells(kerang). Will surely come and book at arung hayat again! Great job.

        Acceptable”

I tried to contact them regarding the boat transfer from semporna to Mabul, they didn't respond to my email or calls. Then I had to go with another company and pay them. I arrived at Mabul and told them that I had a reservation, they didn't even know that I was coming. Room wasn't ready, no wifi, power only between 6PM-6AM, breakfast only fried rice or noodles, sometimes even no toast, no possibility to get water/coffee/tee during the day, they take it away after breakfast time (all the other hotels had it available all day), staff was very loud and rude, running in front of the guest rooms talking, screaming and laughing starting 6am in the morning. All in all I didn't feel comfortable there, staff wasn't interested in you, never seen them at the bar, always had to bother the kitchen staff (kitchen staff was nice though). There are way cheaper homestays and hotels on the island than you can find on the internet, just take a boat there and search for accomodation when you arrive!

        Disappointing”

The place really looks like the photos, the food is very simple but ok, and the air-conditioner worked well. But you have to know that there is electricity only between 6 pm and 6 am, the water used for the bathroom is salted and not so clean, the towels smell bad. Furthermore, the manager wasn't really involved in sending us snorkle... Too bad because this Island is exclusively dedicated to diving and snorkeling. Don't go for any other reason, it's not (anymore) the paradise we could expect, it's overpopulated and very polluted. Too bad!

Peaceful. Nice room. Hot shower. Big toilet”

We went there for a family trip where my husband and i stayed at other "usual checkin lodge" and we booked this for thr other family members including our lil baby. Nice and quiet. And the booked room is nice with own balcony overlooking the crystal clear sea where turtles, fishes and other sealifes can be seen clearly right at the doorstep. The balcony became our place to hang out and drink coffee and chit chat. The place provided a large area for bbq. It was an exciting moments where wr purchased fresh live seafoods by the balcony sold by the BAjau laut people. Breakast was so so but no worry. There kampung stalls nearny. Toilet is large so its a comfort for my mom dad and lil baby. Overall will definitely stay here again!
