Excellence all the way”

Clean, efficient, perfect location, easy access to transportation, competent friendly staff

I was completely happy with the location, staff and facilities of the Beijing Hotel. Particularly wonderful indoor swimming pool and spa. Each night I went for a swim and a stay in the hot tub. And each night (hours are 7AM to Midnight) the staff greeted me with new towels and smiles. I was the only person, the only one, in the entire pool. What a luxury. The front desk was busy when I arrived and a bit slow but quick and efficient for check out. The staff advised me to dine across the street at the Orient Plaza rather than in the overpriced lounge of the Hotel. Great tip. The Plaza has several bakeries opening at 6AM, a Starbucks and other coffee shops (all indoors) and scores of retail outlets and even a grocery store. All clean and efficient and great. Wangfujing street and its colorful night market are right outside. The Silk Market is three subway stops away (the subway is right outside the Hotel) and the Forbidden City, Tiananmen and areas south are walking distance. Three times took a taxi to the Temple of Heaven in the morning to see the dancing (thousands of dancers outside each morning -- and dance lessons and music and singing). The Silk Market is like no place else in the world, but it is highly advised you take a Mandarin speaker with you, or hire a guide to help you and save an additional 50% on what you buy. The taxis around the hotel have rude and arrogant drivers, but that is not the fault of the hotel. To get a Taxi go out onto Wangfujing and signal one down and be sure to ask for a meter to be used -- this is required by Chinese law but most try to avoid it and get more. Bargain. The Wangfujing night market is a world of its own and not to be missed. Fantastic restaurants just two blocks west on a long street. Very good and very inexpensive.

Good location but very old hotel”

Right Next to WangFuJin

Stayed at this hotel at the end of August of 2011. It is right next to Grand Hotel. The 2 hotels are interconnected and taking up the whole block. Beijing Hotel is at the side of WangFuJin and Grand Hotel is at the side of TienAnMun. We have two 2 double bed rooms for 4 Asians. Each double bed is good enough for 2 average asian, if you want to save money. We spent 4 nights in Beijing in 2 different hotels so to experience which hotel is better and we are glad we did. We smelt the cigarette smoke thru the air-conditioning. Apparently, they have non-smoking floor and we were in smoking floor which we didn't know. We paid additional US$50 a night for each room for the Forbidden City view and I think it's NOT worth it. What we saw was the roof top of the Forbidden City. After coming back from a day trip, it's too dark to see it anyway. Be informed that Beijing Hotel has 2 buildings: the old and newer one. We stayed at the newer one. Do not know the difference between the old and newer one. And I saw they are building a new building behind. Free wired network at the room and free wi-fi in lobby only. The wall has electrical outlet that can accomodate different type of plugs. In the other word, there is no need to have adapter. At check-in, they ask for RMB $2,000 per room per night for deposit. It can be cash or credit card. Taxi to and from Beijing airport is about RMB $80 + $10 toll. The Concierge can help you to sign up for English-speaking tour. Be informed that they cost more much than Chinese-speaking tour. For your reference, Great Wall 1 day English-speaking tour is RMB $320 each. Half day WuTong (pedi-cab) English-tour is RMB $200 each.

spacious rooms in a very central location!”

Central location, spacious, high-ceilinged rooms
not always easy to find cabs fm the hotel

The Beijing Hotel offers spacious rooms, large beds, high ceilings and from the top floors looking out towards the north, one has a view over the Forbidden City. Common areas in the hotel are luxuriously appointed and many of the sights one wishes to visit as a tourist or visitor are within walking distance from the hotel (Forbidden City, Wangfujing shopping street, Tianamen Square and some hutungs.

Beijing Hotel, Beijing China - a fine hotel”

It's big, elegant, located in the very heart of a very nice shopping street in very reasonable price. You can walk to experience a high-class afternoon tea or buffet dinner at Raffle's Beijing hotel in the same roof!
None

Beijing hotel is a nice, clean, reasonable-priced hotel which locates in the centre of shopping street (Wangfujing) along the corner of the great Chang An Avenue where we can walk to Tien An Muen and the Firbidden city in 10 min. I like the feeling of walking in the hotel, back from a long and tired day trip. It's so relaxing. The staff are fine and polite..comparing to average Chinese people. Their English is also fluent. Many nice things around the hotel to see. It's not a brand new hotel but from what we paid, this is a great hotel!

A quality hotel at the heart of the city”

good location, right at the Wangfujing Subway Station, good room quality and services,
a little bit pricey for the hotel dining

I moved from the North Garden Hotel to this one. Although it is a little bit more pricey, its quality is very better. It is located right at the exit of Wangfujing Station and a minute of walk to Wangfujing Street. The best place to stay if you are a first-time traveler to Beijing at the heart of the city. My room rate did not include breakfast and it is quite expensive to pay for the breakfast buffet there. I strongly recommend to dine at Wanfujing Street. There are so much to see and eat there.

Beijing Hotel, old, but not outdated...”

Location, facility
none

The room was spacious. The cleaning service did well to make sure that the room was always in a perfect state. We stayed there for 5 nights and enjoyed every moments. It is at the end of wangfujing street, so shopping is not a problem. Nevertheless, walking to tiananmen and forbidden city could be quite tiring. It's better to use the subway instead. Very sattisfied.

Located just a short walk away from Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the subway, and great eating place, getting around was a breeze. Great hotel, very well appointed. Great staff who were attentive and helpful when needed.
None that are worth mentioning

The Beijing is located within walking distance of the heart of Beijing, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. It is also very close to the subway and shopping centres. Gourmet Road which is just across the road in a shopping mall provided an array of reataurants to choose feom and to dine econoomically. The hotel was superb, great staff with well appointed, comfortable and spacious rooms.

The Beijing hotel is located in THE center of Beijing - On the corner of the famous Wangfujing Shopping road and its new modern malls and a short walking distance to the Tian'anmen square and to the Palace Museun(The Forbiden City). It is also located above a metro station which enables a very cheap and very comfort trip all over Beijing. The hotel which is 100 years old combines the dignity of the past with all the modern facilities. The rooms are very comfort and clean and are served continuously.

Great Hotel”

Close to Forbidden City
Un-reliable private cabs on premises. Stay away from these! Food is expensive!

Very Nice Hotel that is close to the Forbidden city. Only an 11 Yuan cab fare or a 10 minute walk. Room was very nice and staff very helpful. Be aware, don't use the motorcycle cabs. They locked us in and demanded 120 yuan after agreeing to 20 yuan in advance for a ride that a cab charged us only 11 yuan. They also only took us about a block away from the hotel before stopping. I gave them 30 yuan and let myself & companion out by force. Another couple with us gave them 50 and demanded change which they did not get. Also don't use anything but standard yellow/green cabs. Other cabs park on the hotel parking lot and promise good rates and even have meters but they don't tell you that the meters are set higher per mile than regular cabs. Also they demand more when the ride is over. Be safe and stick with regular cabs only! Expect to pay the meter plus tolls. Lots of people speak english but not the cab drivers so get a business card from the hotel and have them write the address where you want to go in Chinese. Food at the hotel is expensive but many choices are only a block or two away. The subway is at the front door of the hotel. Very cheap and clean. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Beijing hotel wangfujing Road”

the best features of the hotel is the location, its near the shopping area, the food, and the tourist destinations namely the Tienamen square, The awesome Forbidden Kingdom, Beihai and a lot more to discover
The only thing i dislike about the hotel is that our floor smell like tire. Dont know why.

The hotel best feature is its location, its near the tourist destination namely The Tienamen Square, here one can visit the monument of The Great Mao tse Tung, the Forbidden Kingdom and the Beihai. Our room is situated in such a way that we can see the Forbidden Kingdom. Just a 15 minute walk to the place. I enjoyed the hotel because of the gym , its equipt with the latest machines, my daughter enjoyed the pool. The hotel is connecting to the Raffles Hotel so its great exploring ... We went outside to eat, because the restaurants inside the hotel is very expensive. One can just walk to wangfujing road , there are a lot of mouth watering foods to discover.

Good location, spacious room and nice service”

location, spacious room, kindly peple

we had a nice experience of stay in beijing hotel. the location is very good, subway is just right in front of hotel, and you can get "wangfujing" by side gate directly. the room is very spacious, we have actually 2 boys with age 7 and 2, but we can still sleep very well on 2 super size single bed. people here are nice and kind, will choose here again if come to beijing.

Beijing Hotel”

Clean, responsive, English-speaking, good location in Wangfujing and 10-minute walk from Tian'anmen
Energy consumption of hotel

Clean, responsive, English-speaking, good location in Wangfujing and 10-minute walk from Tian'anmen, but hotel does waste energy (they left the AC on in the room at 18 degrees during the day when no one was there -- please set it to 22 if you have to use it). And they also changed towels daily even though I used the towels in the bathroom only once. I wish they would save energy a little more. Otherwise, this hotel is in a great location, and the staff are responsive, hospitable, helfpul, and kind. Rooms are clean, though beds are a bit small (slightly smaller than American full sized beds). After being in China, I recognize that though I thought I was getting a good deal on the hotel, the prices I was paying for the hotel were "western" prices, not Chinese prices. I loved the jasmine tea in the room. Thank you.

Would recommend staying at the Beijing Hotel”

The Beijing Hotel was in perfect walking distance of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and staff were very friendly
I had a bathroom disaster, with the toilet blocking the same time as a water pipe broke in the toilet which meant water went everywhere - however, staff were there immidiately to fix the problem and within 15mins it looked as though the bathroom disaster never happened

Right from the beginning my stay in the Beijing Hotel was a positive one. We were extremely jetlagged when we checked in, and the staff did everything they could to get us checked into a room (so we could get some sleep straight away) even though we arrived mid morning when rooms are not usually available. Rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. There was ample free bottles of water for drinking and teeth brushing (as well as a spare to start the day of sightseeing in Chinese summer). As an aside, one of the in house restaurants does a great Peking Duck. Just a note, if you order room service white wine, be prepared for it to be warm. Overall, my experience with the Beijing Hotel is a positive one and I would recommend this to fellow travellers

Good Stay in Beijing Hotel”

Location
rooms need renovation

Our Stay in Beijing Hotel was excellent. Our whole family enjoyed it. The price excellent. The location is also very good. It is laterly on Wangfujing street. Wangfujing is one of the well known tour attraction. It is about five minutes walking to Tiananmen Square. The hotel has very good facilities. The atmosphere is very nice. The coffee shop and restaurants are good but a little pricy. Over all, it is a very nice hotel and I will stay there next time in Beijing.

great location”

historical hotel

i stayed there one night for business trip. the location is great, minutes walking to tian an men sqare and forbidden city. it feels wonderful when you wake up and see the forbidden city in your view. the hotel has a history of more than 100 years, with fantastic food and service. the room is tidy and clean, but of course a bit old. providing free wifi, makes things very easy. worth the money if compared with other 5 stars hotels nearby.

Perfect trip”

Friendly Near the forbidden city so we don't have to walk so far Near the walking street and there's alot of fun.
The hotel's built so long so the windows not good

Four nights stayed here I feel very comfortable and relax. The hotel in the center of Beijing will help us not to be tired for walking to the main sight seeings. You can open the window and you can see the Forbidden city directly. Next time I will come back here Lovely place
