Find Bungalows in Sihanoukville Province, Cambodia

I was happy I chose the Sakal Bungalows. I live in Cambodia and am used to simple guesthouses and hotels but I didn't have experience in Sihanoukville and chose Sakal Bungalows online because it was close to the port. The room itself was not so different from other less expensive Cambodian rooms: very dark (2 15-watt lightbulbs!), loose toilet seat, broken door handle, no water provided. But it was quiet and I was able to work. I am not a foodie but the food was excellent. I couldn't believe how tasty and well prepared my two dinners were. The location is on the edge of Sihanoukville away from the main hustle and bustle and less well known. The motorcycle taxi had a difficult time finding Sakal Bungalows and we got there only because I had a phone and could call Sakal and ask the staff to tell the driver where to go. But it was a good stay and I'd go back again.

My stay was great. I was sadly only there for one night but the dinner was delicious and great value and the room was lovely. I am a fan of natural looking bungalows and this one had everything required-mosquito net, good lighting, fan, mosquito burner. I would mention that it is worth getting a taxi rather than a tuk tuk from central sihanoukville. The tuk tuk took 30 mins and was quite a scary journey on bad roads into the jungle. A taxi did that route in much shorted and less bumpy time.

It locates in the middle of Serendipity, the most joyful zone of Sihanoukville. It's about 500 metres from the hotel there are so many bars and restaurant, the price generally is okay. Had an amazing stay here - well-maintained bungalow with super friendly staff! Bungalow opens right up to the beach; woke up to the sound of waves. Bring insect repellent and use the mosquito net at night (bugs not specific to Saracen Bay Resort; we experienced it on other parts of the bay too). Koh Rong Samloem is a beautiful island and Sunset Beach, where the bungalows are located, is particularly special with much fewer people and developments than the other side of the island. We liked it. What we saw, one of the best Bungalows on the Island. The new Manager there is very helpful and nice. To the wonderful Saracen-Beach its just a few minutes walk, but you can also use the Beach right in front of your Bungalow. The only thing we cannot recommend is the Restaurant. But the tents get much hotter than bungalows during the day - and if the flies of mozzies get in, you've got problems. The mattress on the floor is ok, but the bedding could be better. They really should clean the grotty outside of the tents. The tent bungalows are quiet at night except for the sounds of animals, including a few rats that scurried around the outside of the tent. If it were a wood or thatch bungalow, they would have been all over the bed. Each tent is under a thatch cover and has its own separate bathroom with cold water - can be very cold in the morning. The beach here is arguably the cleanest and prettiest stretch on the bay. Didn't have any problems with sandflies, but there are plenty of small jellyfish to sting you.

Otherwise take the only boat that leaves from the Dive Shop in Sihanoukville at 7 AM. The bungalows themselves are very, very rustic. Expecting as such, we were pretty horrified at the bathrooms. There is a complex of four bathrooms all connected(a couple peep holes even) and they need some serious work. Only one of them was 100% functional and that one even had some bodily fluidson the toilet seat. The location makes up for some of the bathroom uncleanliness, but there is work needed a little bit everywhere. The food is super delicious, we stayed three nights and enjoyed all our meals. Will we return to Robinson bungalows? Until the bathrooms go through a major construction I think we'll pick somewhere else.

The Sok San Longbeach Bungalows (not to be confused with the Sok San Beach Bungalows and Sok San New Beach Bungalows which are both nearby) provided an excellent base camp for exploring this remote and quiet side of Sok San. We stayed there for 4 nights. The beach cannot be beat. You have to walk to the southern side of the beach to get the best sunset views but there ...The Sok San Longbeach Bungalows (not to be confused with the Sok San Beach Bungalows and Sok San New Beach Bungalows which are both nearby) provided an excellent base camp for exploring this remote and quiet side of Sok San. We stayed there for 4 nights. The beach cannot be beat. You have to walk to the southern side of the beach to get the best sunset views but there is a bar/restaurant down there that can serve you beers or dinner while you relax and take it all in. Then you can watch for blue phosphorescent sparkles in the waves as you head back after sunset. One day we wandered into the interior of the island for early morning bird watching and kayaked in the afternoon. Another day we headed north across the rickety plank bridge and followed a tiny trail to get to a smaller beach that led us to awesome snorkeling. We saw so many amazing fish species, colorful giant clams, and even a few nudibranches. The Longbeach Bungalows provided us with decent food and drinks at reasonable prices and pointed us in the right direction for kayak and snorkeling rentals (Tip: Go to the Sok San Beach Bungalows for snorkeling gear at $2/day. Avoid the overpriced French resort whenever possible). All of the hotels on this beach have comfy papazan chairs and lovely patios for lounging and reading during the hottest part of the day and the Longbeach Bungalows are no exception. The rooms may be slightly more rustic than some of the other hotels but the beds are on par with other budget hotels throughout Cambodia and are pretty comfy. Just be prepared to shower in the afternoon when it's warmest outside since there is no hot water and the electricity is limited on the island. We were lucky and had an enormous gecko friend visit us every evening in our bungalow, but he was very polite and always stayed on the ceiling. If you are the adventurous type, don't hesitate to book a room here. And remember to bring a great book!

My beach bungalow was just a couple of meters from the sea, and I've almost never slept so good ever, every night as I did now. South of Sok San it's still totally empty, you can walk and be totally alone on an endless paradise beach with crystal clear water. As a guest of Sok San Beach Bungalows you can borrow snorkelling equipment for free. Just ask Julian, the owner, and he will tell you the best places to go. I also went on a boat day trip further north where we first stayed snorkelling outside a coral reef and then went fishing. After that we had a beach BBQ and watched the sunset on the same beach the TV show "Survivor" has been produced. Visiting the nearby waterfall and be able to stand in it and take a shower was also great. But the best of all was my staying at Sok San Beach Bungalows and getting to know Julian, the always happy and helpful owner. In Cambodia they like to copy things. So remember that this is the original Sok San Beach Bungalows. Because there are also other places with similar names, like "Sok San new beach bungalows" "Sok San Beach resort" and "Sok San long beach bungalows". If you want to experience simple beach life, like Thailand 25 years ago, I really recommend you to visit these paradise Cambodian islands. But don't wait too long, development is coming quickly.

Eco Sea Dive Bungalows was very nice place to stay. Before we arrived to the island we went to the office at the mainland and there was nice staff who told us about the island and there was nice man who walked us to the harbour and told us right ferry and where to stay off so it was very helpfull. At the island there was private harbour, one restaurant, one bar and bun...Eco Sea Dive Bungalows was very nice place to stay. At the island there was private harbour, one restaurant, one bar and bungalows next to each other and nothing else near by. So what to do in peacefull island? Most important thing that we did was relaxing. So nice to be far away from cities. You can also swim in crystal clear sea or enjoy the sun or if you want little bit adventure there are little village walking distance from bungalows. Village is full of nice local people despite there are tourists in their village. And you can eat there if you get bored to the restaurant at the bungalows. The Bar at the bungalows were very relaxing and it was kept by friendly staff with cozy attitude and they are very helpfull. It was very nice to meet them and therefore we had sad feeling when we had to leave. Bungalows were also nice and cute except cold water and huge gaps between walls and roof. If they fill the gaps there won't be cold wind blowing trough or hand size spiders. But luckily we had nice lizards in our room so they kept those crowling monsters away. It was very nice to be away from noisy streets, shouting people and disturbing pollution of the city. Sea view was also fantastic and it was relaxin and peacefull place to stay.

I really enjoyed staying on this side of the island. A very simple and easy lifestyle, if you walk up long beach you basically feel like you have the gorgeous island to yourself, and everyone's really friendly cos there are so few people over there. Nothing broke out and I never saw them but the restaurateurs got a bit tense at times. I would recommend 3 stone however note that our bungalow was over a swamp rather than the beach! It was a totally fine swamp, didn't smell and no insects, the local kids played in it (probably not too healthy) and the views over the island were nice. There are other cheaper lodgings which are white box constructions. Maybe best to find out where exactly you're booking in advance

Otres beach is the only good part of Sihanoukville as far as we could tell. It's a beautiful stretch of beach with nice, friendly locals and lots of other travelers. Otres Lodge looks to be one of the nicer places to stay and we were happy with our choice to spend two nights there. Staff was nice and the bungalow was pretty good. It was hot though and without being able to open the windows (they don't open) the fans weren't adequate. Would probably spring for an a/c room next time around. The food at the restaurant is REALLY GOOD and we were happy to try the lovely Thursday bbq night during our stay. The steak was great. But so was everything else we tried too.

We enjoyed our stay. The bungalows were basic, located amidst the trees and plants but also near the sea. There was no water coming out of the tap in our bathroom which made it difficult to wash your hands and face. I had to put the shower spray into the sink and turn it on and off. I liked the fact that it was near M'Pai Village which added a little variety to the day. While the shore around the bungalows is very rocky, there is a lovely beach about a 10 minute walk past the village. I had wanted to snorkel, but the manager was no help, just pointing over to the rocks. I later found that there were boats leaving from the village. So it is a great place, and while the staff was fine, the manager (or owner) was not very helpful or accommodating.

Sihanoukville itself is still in early stages of development for luxury accomm, so a lot is still backpacker hostels and starting to see big casino style hotels. So we were really happy with our choice of Sahaa which was a boutique hotel, which felt premium, personal and great value for money. The place is beautifully decorated with a lot of white settings and a pretty little pool and a great location right on Otres 1. Though the roads are still a bit under developed, it didn’t bother us too much and just across from the road is a beautiful long stretch of beach - also definitely recommend Otres Beach over the rest of the beaches In Sihanoukville. Lots of little bars and restaurants right on the beach there. Definitely recommend!

We have been to Sihanoukville by beginning of 2015. The place is great and as in the pictures very very nice. The owners are French, but they speak English very good. The place has also a great location, 3 minutes from the beach but far from the noisy beach night life. We stayed at Otres Marina for two weeks. Our stay was wonderful and we looked forward to the delicious breakfast everyday. Compared to other bungalows we saw on the beach, this place was clean, free of bugs and had hot water. We loved it. The only downsides were: lack of wifi (we could connect to another guesthouse), did not have 24 hour reception (when we did use them...We stayed at Otres Marina for two weeks. We had great nights sleep every night, we had no noise pollution from bars on the beach. The room was cleaned everyday and they provided us with clean towels, toothbrushes, linens and water bottles. However, there is not really a bar or restaurant at this location but we were happy to try other restaurants for our lunch and dinner meals.

It’s a very quiet and peaceful environment and most of the times you are the only ones on the beach. Sun beds are provided as well. Bungalows - It was clean with few amenities and towels and they also provide hot showers which came as a pleasant surprise. Water pressure was strong too which was nice. WiFi in each room and worked all the time except when there’s power cut but wasn’t too long usually. Love the veranda with comfy cushion chairs overseeing the sea where I spent most of the time reading a book. Restaurant - good variety of food and was very tasty. Very polite kitchen staff as well. Prices are reasonable at 4-7 USD for main dishes. Overall a very nice experience. We had a relaxing time in sandy beach bungalows and we definitely recommend you to come here! Don’t expect luxury but it’s more than adequate for a comfortable stay here. Thank you!!

They're Cambodian, contrary to most other bungalow owners, who are foreigners. I'd say it's the best place on the north part of the island to stay. The island There is couple of things I did not expect: - no electricity during the day (only after 6 pm) - it's impossible to walk to any other part of the island - no internet, even GPRS is superlow, you can hardly use WhatsApp The beach takes 5 minutes walking from bungalows. It's good, but small and lonely. You can also walk to visit the locals who live in this part of islands (they are friendly but nobody speaks English). You can take kayak and go kayaking + snorkeling: I think I liked it the most. And finally, I've never seen this starry sky -- not in Sihanoukville, not on the other parts of islands. It's very special, and the best place to look skywards is, of course, the pier. Transportation There's speed boat which goes to Saracen Bay around 9:30-10:00 in the morning. And you can come back at 15:30 by normal boat. One-way trip costs $5, to be paid aboard. The Saracen beach is way better, and you can walk from there to the Lazy beach (which is also very good) and to the Lighthouse (climb to the up!). But: there's nothing to do in the evening and the food is poor and more expensive.

The bungalow was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It is right next to the beach with a front porch furnished with a table and rattan papasan chairs. The food is amazing from around $3-$6 made to order to be served at their restaurant or at your front porch. The service is excellent. It was my wife's birthday, so they even helped us set up a table at the beach for our dinner. However, you got to live with mosquitos at night since it is on a wild island, and electricity is scarce since they use generator, so you only have a few hours of electricity a day. Of course, no phone, Internet, or TV service. You came here to get away from all of those. I believe this is just as good as any paradise resort like Fiji or Maldives for 1/10 of the price.

Stay here. It is AMAZING and UNFORGETTABLE! Thank you Neil!

Not only was no tea or coffee provided, but there were only two bottles of water. There was four of everything else: four cups and plates, four toothbrushes, four beds and four pillows....but only 2 bottles of water. Wifi was also incredibly poor where we stayed. If your traveling with children, having wifi is critical! Our tv was also inoperable. You would think the management would make it a priority for a "family" bungalow to have working tv! Again, I paid over $80 for one night. And no tv (or wifi) for the kids. And finally, it was hard to get a good nights rest while staying at the family bungalow. The bed was unusually hard, rats (or some other critter) was burrowing all night in the roof, a weird sounding bird made noises all night right outside our back window, some loud fan outside was on all night, and construction next store started at 7am, with my daughter waking up to the sound of rocks sliding down a shoot. The best part of our stay was the friendliness of the staff. They were incredibly helpful in trying to make our stay a pleasant one. Nonetheless, if you're going to charge $80+ for a room, you should ensure a guest is getting what they paid for: a harmonious experience.

The location of the bungalows is on its hill, so we have to climb some stairs to to get to the bungalow. The bungalows itself is very comfortable and clean. The mattress is very soft, there's a fan and mosquito nets as well, although we did not use the mosquito net because there were no mosquitoes during our sleep, we slept very comfortably and soundly. The bathroom inside the bungalows are clean and fully equipped, there is a shower, a toilet seat with flush, towels and they also provide toothbrush, soap and shampoo. This bungalow is surrounded by trees and woods that make the air feel fresh. There is a balcony to relax on, while looking at the beach. This Bungalows also has a restaurant with a menu that is quite tasty and large portions. And the location of the restaurant has the best view of coconut beach. We are in love with this coconut beach. The scenery is very beautiful, very quiet and not filled with tourists, the sand is white and very soft. The beach is also sloping, with very clear water and very quiet waves, perfect for swimming and relaxing. What makes it special is that we can see and swim with the glowing plankton. At midnight, Robbie invited us all with the other guests to see and swim directly with the plankton lit up, directly on the beach in front of this bungalow. Truly an amazing experience. They're also lend snorkeling equipment, buoys, a variety of games, even make a bonfire and invite guests to fly the lanterns at night. And all is provided to guests for free. He whole beach line was full of garbage, no pick up was provided so we just walked around 20 minutes having jumped over the muddy brooks under the burning sun. There were only 2 people in the staff for the whole bunch of bungalows making food, cleaning, taking care of the guests' requests etc. In a while we appreciated that as no one was disturbing us and overall support was sufficient. We weren't ready for the open-air shower and toilet just right in the area where there is usually the entrance living room. We weren't ready for the fact that there are no fresh fruits, vegetables and ice cream on the island. We weren't ready for Cambodian karaoke till midnight just 50 meters from bungalows. We weren't ready to see workers on the pier throwing their sh....t into the water. Finally, we didn't expect that water is going to be that much shallow... Even though among all disappointment we really loved the food and good service the young lady provided to us. We loved our bungalow and we had a very good sleep there. We loved chilling out in hammocks, playing with the dogs, petting the cats, discovering the island and trying to make good pictures. So, those who are ready to face some discomfort and are looking for an isolated stay - that's the perfect place to stay. Btw, Cita provides the best bungalows on the island.

Since it was close to the jungle we had a big gecko in our bungalow, but we didn't mind, the island and the jungle are nature, and the animals belong. :) I liked the trees and the nature around. For this reason only 4 out of 5 for the location. The room and bathroom were clean as well as the pillows, towels and bedding (5 of 5 for cleanliness). Mosquito net was available and not damaged. Got the room with aircon which was worth it (5 of 5 for facilities). Staff was friendly and helpful. Very good service (5 of 5 for staff). Campared to other places in Cambodia it was more expensive, maybe because we booked on Agoda. For this reason and because we rated only 4 of 5 for location, we give 4 of 5 with regards to value for money. All in all we can highly recommend White Moon Bungalows if you want to be at the best beach in Sihanoukville without lots of tourist!

For me, ants were a little bit of an issue in sihanoukville, but when youre laying on a beach bed in the sun with fresh mango juice, nothing is really too much of an issue! Rooms were clean and toilet roll and water provided.

The short walk over the hill to the next beach "Otres"is the best time you'll have in Sihanoukville unless you go on an island trip or like gambling at unfriendly casinos. The "Last Hippie Standing" Bar is a must see.

Room Cleaning - daily but only if we wanted to. Could have been better: A Table - would have been great for the not so sunny days to have somewhere to sit in the room other than the bed. The Bathroom - is the Cambodian shower and toilet in one type, everything gets wet when showering. There was also a smell coming from the sewage that wasn't pleasant, that's the 4 start on cleanness. Missing Rooftop Sun Chairs - on the rooftop, it would have been great to have some sun- and normal chairs with tables to sit at. Now it is only used to dry washing. No Food Served - no food/snacks offered instead they recommend going to the next door BOHO Hostel but this is a quite expensive place, 2.5$ for iced coffee with sweet milk. Jin, 300 meters away is a better option. Green Lantern is the best around, by far, but they don't serve breakfast. Sihanoukville is Far - this is not a great place for discovering the city since it is about 1 hour away walking there on the beach. Lunch/Dinner is Far - there are not a lot of good eateries around here except for the Green Lantern. Development Area - they are building everywhere around here and if you want to

I grew up in a place like this, so know that it's just the way it is with nature. White beach, clear water, great sunsets ! The hut I was in was not ideal, it's beach front and a hop to the water. However there lock didn't work well (didn't bother me), and the sink in the bathroom was faulty as well as spewing brownish water leaving gunky sediments once the water eventually drained (loooongg time), so I just didn't use the sink. Shower, bidet, faucet worked well. Part of the bathroom wall could use some new paint, others may find it gunky. Food is good, well at least the BBQ and salads I had. Suited my taste, spicy and fresh. Quite accommodating to my request. Staff also remembers preferences after the first time, i.e. two mugs of black coffee, no sugar or beer in bottle, no cans 😀 little things that makes one feels you matter and you belong. Definitely going back !

A Tuk Tuk or taxi can't take you right up to it because it's right on the beach, so you have to walk just a tad but it's not far...maybe 4 businesses before you get there. Soap scrub all over the sink, etc. Other than that it's a great place! Just beware if you sit on the beach to eat. You will be bothered constantly to buy things which got a bit exhausting and definitely took away the tranquility part of the experience. Also there are rocks in the water in front of the hotel. It's great for viewing but you need to walk a tad for actual beach experiences. Overall I would recommend this place.

Hiro, the owner, was incredibly nice and accommodating. He gave my girlfriend some of his medicine for some stomach issues she was having without asking for anything in return. He provides tours and excursions around the island for a reasonable price that I heard (could not join because of my GF’s illness) were well received. The bungalows are tucked far away enough from the busier parts of the island to give you some peace and quiet yet not far enough to make it a needlessly arduous trek to the beach or to where the action is. Clean rooms and facilities. Mosquito nets are new and don’t have holes. Be prepared for a hot bungalow around midday- there is only so much a fan can do during the day. After sundown it is quite comfortable and there were a couple of nights when we slept under the covers because it was that cool.

Owners were so welcoming and more like friends to us and we enjoyed a few of their cracking Kingdom draught beers together with lots of laughs! The staff were great too and always willing to help.
