Great hostel, ”
Stayed for ~20 nights, mixed 4 person dorm. Pros: 1. Great staff, really friendly and helpful. 2. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, very nice food. 3. Most Fridays they hold a dumpling party - which just means putting your name down on a list and eating heaps of dumplings for dinner. 4. Good location. 5 minute walk to Xīsì station, and plenty of restaurants around. 5. Hot/cold water dispensor in the hangout area, bar fridge with plenty of variety. 6. Really nice courtyard areas and dorms. 7. Hangout area, while not large, is very cosy and nicely furnished and decorated, good atmosphere. 8. A guitar and electric piano available for playing. Cons: 1. The hostel is not as large as some of the more popular ones, so on some days I found it a bit boring due to lack of people in the hangout area. But that can happen with a 20-night stay. 2. As can be expected, the food available from the hostel is a bit more expensive (20-30 RMB) than some of the small, casual noodle places nearby.

Exceptional”
A little ways down the road in the hutong, but pretty close to some popular attractions and the subway. The staff was very friendly. The Wi-Fi is spotty at times. Overall this is a great place to stay and if I make it back to Beijing would definitely stay here again.

Charming backstreet guesthouse with courtyard”
Great little place with all rooms opening on to this shady courtyard off one of the hutongs. really quite charming - loved it. Its not in the middle of a tourist area but a more traditional Chinese hutong neighborhood which was nice. Very close to the palace and T square etc (they had some free bikes to use and we rode them over). Staff spoke good english

Great stay in the hutongs”
Loved the whole hostel arrangement and vibe! Its a little walk into the alley but really loved the hutong feel. The train station was rather near and convenient and there were plenty of restaurants nearby, along with convenience stores. Stayed in the triple room and double room on different days, take note that the triple room is a conjoined bed of a double and single bed. The double room is a lot smaller but cozy and clean. The water temperature in the shower was a little hard to control and erratic and the toilet was not as clean as we would like it to be. The wifi however was quite bad and equivalent to none. Most of the time we were just using our sim card's data. Other than the wifi and water in the bathroom, the rest of stay was really pleasant and had fun talks with the other people in the hostel and the boss as well! We had different choices for breakfast everyday and it was simple and good! Overall a nice hostel to stay, especially loved the yard area. Will visit again!

Great place”
I stayed in a private single room. The hostel is really nice and has a lot of facilities backpackers will be happy with. Like a power cord with 4 plugs by the bed, free soap, free bike rental, laundry service and a lot of tourist information. Would recommend. Nearest subwaystation is Xisi, but Ping'Anli has a better connection to al the sights. Ping'Anli is about a 20 min walk from the hostel.

Overall was Good”
The hotel's location was quite far from subway station. The room was clean, but the bathroom was small. The bed was hard and the heater was not really heat. I stayed at the hotel when winter, but the room was cold. Fortunately I brought my own blanket as addition and I wore long john at night. The staff was nice. But their breakfast was to late. If you want to go out early, do not reserve room with breakfast because they could not serve breakfast earlier. Overall, the hostel was Good.

Beijing ”
It was nice to stay at the Chinese Box Courtyard Hostel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hostel was quite a distance down the alley way, but it was safe. The only qualm that my nan pengyo and I had concerned the bikes. We each had one bike and they both broke down in some way or fashion while on our journey back to the hostel. It was quite annoying, but overall the hostel itself was quite nice.

Wonderful six days”
I stayed for 6 days in this hostel. In the first arrival day, I my expectation was quite lower because it was quite hard to find the location. However, I was warmly welcomed by the staffs and got a nice room. For the breakfast, there are 3 options to be tried (I love the muesli*). I also find several good friends whose travelling to China and we had a great chat in the courtyard during the night time. No need to worry if we want to go to somewhere but we don't know the location. The staffs will gladly help you, show what bus or subway line you can use. I really enjoy my time there, Thanks to all of the staffs in Chinese Box Courtyard Hostel.

Totally enjoyed our stay!”
Great from start to end. From the moment we made our booking, we received an email giving us directions to their place, as well as useful information about the things to do around Beijing. Really nice hostel! Looks really simple from the outside, but such a pretty place with a homey feel the moment you step inside. We booked the double room, and it was a very cozy and clean room. Slept so comfortably each night, that it was sometimes difficult to wake up early to start our day. Ensuite toilet had heated air above the shower, which made each shower so comfortable (in Winter). Shampoo and soap was also provided. There's a few choices for breakfast, and I highly recommend the Yoghurt muesli! Super yummy! We were fortunate to be able to join their Friday night dumpling party too! The internet was fast enough, and there were computers in the common area which you can use as well. Location wise, it's not in the centre of all the 'action', or the famous hutong areas; which can be perfect if peace and quiet is what you want. It's about 10 mins from the Xisi station; so from there you can get to everywhere within the city. There are also some restaurants nearby, but it's better to get recommendations from the locals. We had the most wonderful duck at a place on the east side of The Forbidden City, as recommended by Lee. Everyone at the hostel was really helpful throughout our stay, with our questions/plannings/bookings. Totally appreciate everyone. Met some really nice people staying at the hostel too :) Anyway, will not hesitate to stay here if we return to Beijing; even if it's just to have the Yoghurt muesli again!

Very Clean and Super Friendly Staff ”
The area is in the middle of Hutong, so you can feel experience of Beijing people's life. The hostel is clean, bathroom & the room is clean. the staff are able to speak English very well. There'a one super friendly lady (wearing spec) and she speak very good English. The hostel provides computer where you can check facebook and gmail (they have VPN) and they serve breakfast with reasonable price. I would recommend this hostel to everyone. Seriously the service is awesome. It's cheap and decent accommodation. I vote this hostel as the best hostel in Beijing.

Very nice experience”
It's a nice hotel with traditional Chinese character. You go into Hutong to get to the hotel. The hotel is a typical courtyard. Very quiet, tidy room, nice food. It feels like you are at home, not a hotel. The location is ok, it takes you about 10 minitues to get to the subway station. A very good experience during my trip in Beijing.

Great Stay”
The Chinese box hosel is a great place to stay! The staff is super friendly and helpful. It is centrally located with lots of options for subway stations and close enough to the Forbidden City that you could take one of the bikes provided by the hotel or even walk. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Beijing!

Beautiful hostel, perfectly situated!”
This little boutique hostel is situated very close to Xi Si station in a central yet quiet hutong neighbourhood. For my week stay in Beijing, I booked a lovely single room which was super clean with an awesome shower. Breakfast was available every morning in the common room, which was a great little nook to meet other travellers and enjoy a beer in the evening. Lee and staff were very friendly and super helpful with onward travel suggestions and organising tours. The hostel offered bikes for hire which was awesome for an alternative way of getting around to see the sights. I also booked a Great Wall tour through the hostel - definitely one of the highlights of my big adventure through China. All in all, loved my stay here and cannot recommend it enough.

Cleanest Stay Yet!”
This was the cleanest place my boyfriend and I stayed at. I've never stayed in a hostel before and this really set the standard for all other hostels! I'm a little bit of a germaphobe and picky when it comes to bathrooms. The pictures are exactly what you get. The shower room was SUPER CLEAN, and the toliets were clean as well. I like how they had heaters in the shower room and toliets, they really thought this through! The room was perfect, very comfortable and warm blankets to keep us warm during the frigid nights. The staff was very helpful and they even helped arrange a day trip to the Great Wall! Other than that everything was great, no complaints gere! A wonderful stay and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a stay in Beijing!

Great experience staying at Chinese Box! ”
I stayed three nights in a mixed dorm and I can't complain about anything. The check in was quick and easy, the beds firm, the linen clean and the overall atmosphere very friendly. The staff was helpful and engaged and the vibe in the hostel family like. It felt nice to come "home" after long Beijing days and catch a fellow traveler or one of the staff members for an interesting chat or a beer and some music was played as well. The location is great for some attractions like the summer palace. But with the well connected metro system it was also easy to reach other sights. It was really a great base to discover Beijing from. I warmly recommend you to spend a little more for this hostel and stay in a welcoming and beautiful place.

Comparing to another hostel in Beijing, I think this hostel is the best.”
Hostel located little bit far from downtown, but the location is perfect because it is still easy to go downtown, seeing traditional artifacts. Also this is the perfect place for resting because hostel offers some kind of living room where visitors can rest and meet each other. And as this hostel located little bit far from station, it is very quiet(I like this points the most when comparing to another hostel). Staffs working here was very kind, they even provided welcome fruits. I love the memory staying here and even hope so visit here once more if I have a chance to visit Beijing again. Thanks for help me (to laoban and staff !)

Best hostel I've stayed in”
This was the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Musical instruments, good food, tea, dumplings parties, and no TV make mingling in the charming common areas fun and enjoyable. I would especially thank Amy, Iris, and Kiko for providing excellent, friendly service with lots of great suggestions for Beijing. The location near the city center and the subway is very convenient. The day trip we booked through the hostel to the Great Wall was excellent as well.
