"Best value for your money. I can't say enough about this hotel and the wonderful staff that has made my 2 weeks in Laos and Cambodia worthwhile. This hotel ranks with the 4 stars hotel I had stay in Hong Kong, Thailand, Bahrain, Germany and etc. Believe me, I had stay in plenty of hotels by working overseas for over 15 years and the Victoria rank up there. My sister had stay in the other more expensive hotel in Luang Prabang and I got the better deal. Don't let the pictures in the other brochures fool you. Those pictures were taken when everything was new. The Victoria is the real deal."

"Beautiful pool and nicely renovated historical buildings. It's very pleasant just sitting at the restaurant every morning to have a slow breakfast and bask in the sunlight (until it gets unbearably hot around 9). Location is about 10min walk from the centre, though Luang Prabang is small enough that almost everywhere is within walking distance. It also means it's not as noisy as some of the backpacker places. Room is decent and everything works well, though facilities are basic . Only tiny little peeves were how slow the kettle was, though I suppose not many people would want a hot drink in Lao weather anyway. Had a horrible no-show experience with a tour operator, and hotel staff were very helpful in mediating and getting us our money back. Also they managed to book us a ride to the kuangsi falls last minute (which was definitely worth every penny) and maintained their smiles even though my partner was frantic and not behaving very well, which was very admirable and professional. "This hotel was a place I first stayed at in 1997, when it was one of only a few hotels in town. They have consistently upgraded to stay in the top rank of hotels in Luang Prabang. Everything from check in to check out was handled very efficiently, the room was spacious and comfortable, clean and quiet.Their location is one of the best in town, close to all the major attractions, and many nice restaurants very nearby. "Luang Prabang is a wonderful town with fabulous temples and wonderful french colonial architecture. The hotel is very close to the center of the town where you will find the Museum and Night market. Better restaurants are a little ways away (about 15 minutes walk and further). The hotel also gives close access 25 m to an Arts center. Highly recommended town and the hotel is a good base to explore it."

"Luang prabang is a great place. I personally rank it as No. 1 of S.E.A. The moment we stepped into this heritage town, we immediately filled with the holiday mood. And the greatest of all, we booked into Villa Chitdara which made our every minute of stay even more memorable. The hotel is very quiet and yet within walking distance to most of the interesting places, including temples, night / morning markets, museum, restaurants/ bistro/ tea / coffee parlours, Mekong river etc. Also, monks walked past in front of our villa in the morning. It is really an interesting experience to follow through the monks walking back to the temples (you will be surprised they actually walk very fast).. You will understand the whole ceremony more including the monks giving back to the poor ! People in luang prabang are simply wonderful and friendly. Special compliment should be given to the owner of Villa Chitdara who is a pretty, friendly Laos lady who speaks fluent French and some English. She even gave us a small souvenir when we checked out. Felt warm! "

"We highly recommend this hotel. Friendly service, nothing too much trouble, good management, great recommendations for Luang Prabang, the rooms are spotless clean and well designed for a relaxing stay. The hotel has a warm ambiance and lovely cafe area where we enjoyed reading papers and their selection of books. The location of the hotel is great to walk to the 6.30am alms walk by the monks, and for walking back from restaurants at night. The terrace has wonderful views of the mighty Mekong. Bycycles were provided at no charge, the breakfast options were plentiful (one of us loved the generous and delicious vegetable and noodle soup and the other devoured the eggs and western breakfast... all with Lao Coffee). Hotels in Luang Prabang are "pricey" - so relative to the other options this was a good find. Highly recommended. "

"We were lucky to have witnessed the Songkran in Luang Prabang this year and Sala Prabang was an ideal place for it! My friends and I were were so fortunate to have the upstairs room facing the streets. It had a little courtyard with several big trees between our room and the street so we had some privacy. We got to see the celebration of the wetting of the passers-by (as the Songkran festivals do for blessings for the new year) It was so welcoming specially with the summer heat! Our breakfast was across the street but river front! Awesome view and good variety for breakfast, which is a bit difficult for us since we were vegetarians). The rooms were big and clean. We even had a balcony to dry our soaked clothes from the celebration! Sala Prabang's location was so close to the night market, the boat tours, the main streets, great eating places, local mom-and-pop restaurants, money changers, and even temples! We would definitely return here. It was one of our best vacations yet! And we do about 4-6 trips a year. We loved Luang Prabang and Sala Prabang!"
