Excellent, very good staff and the food was delicious . It was approximately 15 minuets walk to the Port which has lots of resturants and shops. We did a bus Tour of the Island which was spectacular and well worth it. Only problem was the Leader spoke mainly in Greman. Naxos was so much slower and relaxed than Santorini but as many steps. The Castle area has some wonde...

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Naxos Island Escape. The rooms are new and beautifully done and Marios' hospitality is unmatched. He really went out of his way to make sure we had a great time in Naxos. He delivered exceptional home made breakfasts to us each morning and served as a point person for making sure we had transportation and a plan to really exper...

We stayed for 5 nights at Iliada Villas. The size of our villa was perfect because we have 3 children. The villa was very modern, clean and comfortable. Fabulous views from our outdoor eating area. Iliada Villas is about a 10 min walk to the pristine beach, stores and restaurants. And the team at Iliada were so helpful with anything we needed. We wouldn’t stay anywhere...

After researching quite a few different options, I’m really glad I picked Ippokampos. The rooms are small but extremely clean with excellent sea views (at least the room we stayed in - 5), the breakfasts are large and varied, even after staying for a week, the staff are so helpful and friendly, and being right on the beach is ideal. It’s only a 10 min max walk to the o...

I was greeted by a smiling, friendly and warm Maria at the reception. Truly a warm welcome of a complimentary basket of her homemade apple cake, fresh fruits and a lovely refreshing delicious local white wine. The studio was spotlessly clean with a pleasant, elegant interior decor. Just right on the beach is the friendly Yialos seafood tavern, a Tripadvisor's recommend...

Well.. when we arrived the owner was quite patronizing and went into small pointless details about the property eg, closing the curtains at night, hand towels vs body towels etc. He treated my friend and I as if we were children. The facilities were extremely lacking and/or broken. The shower did not work effectively as it did not have a wall mount and it sprayed every...

Pros: Very good location, very quiet, yet close to the night life and the labyrinth streets of the old city. Our room (114) was great, nice blue and white design, beautiful bathroom, albeit a tiny shower but functional. Room also had a fantastic view, though I think all rooms have great views too. The name “panorama” is not without merit here! Very friendly staff, grea...

My husband and I went to Naxos Island for our Honeymoon vacation and this was by far the Best of the Best in Naxos for Couples and Adults! We are planning on going back again and again! The amazing staff, the organic homemade food, and the location near the action are all truly amazing!!! Thank You again Kouros Art for an amazing memory! Fotini & Rocco

Loved staying here!! It was a short drive to/from the port/Chora area and provided easy walkable access to some of the most beautiful beaches on the island (Agios Prokopios, Agios Anna) and Plaka & Mikri Vigla (our favorite) was a short ATV ride away. We had a budget double, so no sea view, but the lovely little balcony was a nice spot to drink our morning coffee or an...

Having arrived by ferry there was a town plan that showed the location of the hotels by zones. The hotel was within walking distance of the port. On Arrival we were greated on first name terms. The hotel although in the old town of Naxos looks new, rooms are bright and comfortable and spacious. The hotel is central to restaurants and about a 15 minute walk to St Georg...

Amazing place! This was by far the best place we stayed at in Greece. It was so clean and beautiful. The hospitality was great. They helped us with everything and went above my expectations to make sure everything was perfect. I would highly recommend staying here. The location is in a quiet neighborhood with a super market close by. Walking distance to the beach and t...

We are a group of 3, staying for 3 nights. It was our first time in Greece and in Naxos. Nektarios picked us up and welcomed us with their homemade liquor and dessert. He helped us a lot with directions and car rental, and sent us to the port for departure, also found us a place to store our luggage after checking out while waiting for the ferry to depart. The room...

The 2 night stay at Naxos was chill and relaxing! The studio was clean and well furnished. The terrace was definitely the highlight. I spend almost half of my time in the room other than sleeping outside. Enjoy a glass of wine and enjoy the sea view. It is just located next to the bus station, so you can take a bus from the port instead of taxi. It only cost $1.8 per...

Old hotel showing signs of wear, an extremely tiny shower and a wardrobe that is not deep enough to accommodate hangers properly. Despite all that if you ask for a harbour view room, sitting on your tiny balcony watching the sun set over the Med and the ferry sailing into the night is a real treat.

The photos do not do this gorgeous apartment to justice in fact its not even the same room. Maybe we got a different one but it was gorgeous and the view of the bay was to die for. Drinks on the balcony watching bustling naxos go by. Loved it - host was great too

Amazing location right next to St George beach, and a relatively straight road down from the port. Clean & spacious room. The owner was extremely friendly & helpful -- provided lots of great recommendations for food, sights & activities! The bottle of homemade wine was nice too :)

A beautiful family run business. We spent the best part of two weeks in this hotel, in our first visit to Naxos. Nikos the owner was very helpful and offered a free pickup service from and to Airport/Ferry port. We could not fault a single part of our stay. The rooms are immaculate. Incredibly friendly, and knowledgeable staff, beautifully decorated and super clean apa...

What a fantastic stay in Sunday studios. I was greeted by early check in, an upgraded room and fresh cheese pastries! So sweet. Next day I came home with the room cleaned and apple cake in the fridge. Great location between Agia Anna and prokopios, 1 min walk to the beach. Would recommend!

Family Run hotel - I can't compliment enough the friendlinesss and helpfulness of staff. Christina and her brother were both wonderful hosts throughout my stay. I had a slight problem ( my issue) at time of settling my bill and Christina brother facilitated me even though it meant administrative problems for them at their end. Lovely people, I will definitely for sur...

We stayed in room A1, which is at the northwest corner, which was ideal. The balcony looked out over the port and the waters between Naxos and Paros. We could watch the ferries coming and going, and the sunsets. It was in shade in the mornings, which was ideal for eating breakfast out there, which we did every day. The rooftop terrace is even more spectacular, with lot...

First day to go, think nothing there, but supermarket just few minutes, the room view very good, my room can see sunset and not more lights, i can take sky photo for my room view. The location is perfect within two minutes to the beach, and less than that to restaurants and the main Beach Road. The rooms are spacious, very clean and well appointed and seem new. Great! The staff is just awesome. They are very friendly and attentive. Whatever we asked for, they have provided, bus tickets, scrub, olive oil, you name it... The hotel is 3 min walk from the bus stop and a very beautiful beach. I like how they have a tiny kitchen and utensils where you can cook simple stuff there. The only thing is about the transportation in t...

Everything about this property was amazing, from check in to check out the staff were super informative and helpful. The facilities were exceptional, clean, modern, attractive, and the location was perfect, a quiet spot but still a moments walk to dining options and the port itself. I will be staying here next time I visit Naxos!

Room is very spacious and comfy. Maria and Antonis are very friendly and helpful. They even provided us a big bottle of iced water and refreshment upon arrival. Beach is just minutes walk away, many great restaurants along the beach. Luckily we have a small kitchenette to cook simple food when my boyfriend felt sick. The tap water is salty, so be prepared to buy bottle...

I chose this hotel for it's location & it did not disappoint. The viewing location was superb for watching the sunset. The hotel restaurant is right on the beach & you can have a terrific meal from the restaurant grill. Unfortunately the rooms & garden need a little more love & attention.

Our stay at Golden Bay was perfect. It is a family run hotel with their very own family bakery next door. They were so welcoming. There are very good car/motorbike/quad rental places on both sides of the hotel...recommended for exploring the island.

We had a lovely stay at Alkoyoni beach hotel, the location is excellent, beach and restaurants so close, bus stop 5 min walk and Naxos town an easy 10 min walk. The staff are very helpful and nothing was a problem. The pool bar has a friendly atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

The apartment was within the old town. The place is very cosy and had a homely feel. You know that the owner is very proud of the house heritage and takes great pain to maintain it. The place is a very quite family run place that really only seems to cater to Greek families who want a basic getaway from the city. The downstairs rooms have ample space for a family of 4 (though the bathroom is extremely small and basic) with big semi private outdoor areas where we relaxed most of the time when we were around. We had a very nice stay at Santana Beach Hotel. The location is beautiful and the staff is great. Particularly Alexandra was extremely helpful and nice. Unfortunately they held a full moon party while we were there and partied all night, which made it hard to sleep that night, but it doesn't happen very often from what I understand. The breakfast is great!

More about Naxos Island
Discover the Magic of Naxos Island Greece
Naxos Island, the largest of the Cyclades, is a destination that captivates visitors with its stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. Known for its breathtaking beaches, charming villages, and ancient ruins, Naxos offers a unique blend of relaxation and adventure. The island's lush valleys and majestic mountains create a picturesque backdrop for exploring its many attractions. From the iconic Portara, a massive marble gate that stands as a testament to the island's ancient history, to the quaint streets of Naxos Town, every corner reveals a piece of the island's enchanting charm.
One of the highlights of Naxos is its beautiful beaches, which are among the best in Greece. The soft golden sands and crystal-clear waters of Agios Georgios Beach and Plaka Beach invite visitors to unwind and soak up the sun. For those seeking adventure, the island offers a variety of water sports, including windsurfing and kitesurfing, particularly at Mikri Vigla Beach. The island's rich agricultural heritage also means that visitors can indulge in local delicacies, including the famous Naxian cheese and potatoes, making it a culinary delight as well.
Cultural enthusiasts will find plenty to explore on Naxos Island. The island is home to several historical sites, including the Castle of Naxos and the Della Rocca-Barozzi Venetian Museum, which provide a glimpse into the island's storied past. The blend of ancient ruins and Venetian architecture creates a fascinating atmosphere, perfect for leisurely strolls through the narrow streets. The vibrant local festivals throughout the year, such as the Apokries (Carnival) and the Panagia Drosiani festival, showcase the island's rich traditions and community spirit, making Naxos a destination that resonates deeply with its visitors.
Best Time to Experience Naxos Island
The ideal time to visit Naxos Island largely depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for. The peak season runs from late June to early September when the island buzzes with activity, and the weather is perfectly warm for beach days. During these months, visitors can enjoy various local events and festivals, such as the Festival of Naxos, which celebrates the island's culture through music and dance. However, this is also when the island sees the most tourists, so booking accommodations early is a wise choice.
If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting in the shoulder seasons of late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October). The weather during these times is still pleasant, with fewer crowds and lower prices on accommodations. This is also the perfect time to explore the island's hiking trails and historical sites without the hustle and bustle of peak season. The local markets and restaurants are less crowded, allowing for a more authentic dining experience where you can savor the flavors of Naxian cuisine.
Winter months (November to March) bring a different charm to Naxos, with cooler temperatures and a peaceful atmosphere. While some tourist facilities may close, this is an excellent time for those looking to immerse themselves in the local culture. The island's natural beauty remains, and you can enjoy scenic walks and cozy evenings in local tavernas, tasting hearty dishes made from seasonal ingredients.
Essential Travel Tips for Naxos Island Adventures
Before setting off on your Naxos adventure, it’s important to familiarize yourself with some essential travel tips to make the most of your trip. First, be aware of the local customs and etiquette. Greeks are known for their warm hospitality, and a simple greeting in Greek, such as “Kalimera” (Good morning), can go a long way in connecting with locals. Dress modestly when visiting churches or monasteries, and always ask for permission before taking photos of individuals.
When it comes to currency, Greece uses the Euro (€), so ensure you have some cash on hand, especially when visiting smaller towns or markets. While many establishments accept credit cards, some local shops may prefer cash. ATMs are widely available, but it’s wise to check with your bank regarding international withdrawal fees. For a seamless experience, consider downloading a translation app to help with any language barriers you may encounter.
Safety is generally not a concern on Naxos, but it’s always good to remain vigilant, especially in crowded areas. Keep your belongings secure and be cautious when exploring remote locations. If you're planning to rent a vehicle or scooter to explore the island, ensure you have an international driving permit and familiarize yourself with local traffic rules. Lastly, don’t forget to pack sunscreen and stay hydrated, especially during the hot summer months, to fully enjoy your time under the sun.
