Where to stay in Pakse
Pakse hotels & accommodations
This hotel is the nicest hotel in Pakse, by a large margin. I'll preface this by saying I've stayed here several times but only in the "1 bedroom suite" room. Very comfortable bed and linens. Well maintained and clean. Serviceable internet, 2-3mbps which isn't insane but will be quite sufficient for emails and some video streaming. I've not swam in the pool but i...
Although Pakse Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Pakse City it has managed to stay beautiful, clean and well maintained; it continues to exude its old world charm. For the price we paid we were not expecting too much that is why as soon as we entered our room we were delighted to see how spacious and tastefully decorated it is. Wi-Fi was strong enough to ensure a de...
Great hotel for the money, the bathrooms do need updating but not a problem as clean. The beds are the best in Pakse and very comfortable. This is a great little hotel with the owner on hand and great staff. Breakfasts are wonderful on the roof restaurant with stunning views to 3 sides. I have read a few negative things about this place re the cleanliness of the bathr...
We stayed at Le Jardin Hotel in Pakse twice as a stop over on our trip to the 4000 islands. The hotel is incredibly well run by Ms Noi who will greet you by name and together with her staff will make sure you enjoy every moment of your stay. The hotel provides a nice breakfast (eggs made to order, fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, baguette, jams), has a good sized poo...
We stayed here for 2 nights as our first trip to Pakse. Before coming to Pakse we didn't know about the city, where is actually the 2nd largest town of Laos, and after that we enjoyed the stay there, it is a good place to stay relaxed, there have some good restaurants. The hotel is very new and modern designed, and is rare in Pakse such a modern designed hotel. The ba...
we enjoyed our stay at the arawan riverside hotel. it is a beautiful hotel next to the mekong river ! suggest you book the river view room … you will be glad you did. the service staffs are exceptional ! great breakfast ! with lots of selection. great restaurants … quiet ambience … i give the service staffs at the arawan riverside hotel two thumbs up … way up… th...
We stayed here on three separate occasions coming in and out of Pakse. The guesthouse is centrally located to restaurants, bars , tourist agencies and motorbike rentals. The rooms and lobby were clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and they allowed us to leave our bags with them when we went on a four day motorbike tour. We also stayed their after our tour o...
Spacious, comfortable rooms! Very clean! Good for a quick stay in Pakse. Within walking distance to many things. We didn’t love Pakse but this place was a great stay!
We have been in two of the three hotels that belong to this hotel chain, run by one family. In the first one, the Mekong Paradise Resort we stayed for three nights in a spacious room with wooden floors and a fantastic view on the Mekong river. It is situated at the outskirts of Pakse and because we wanted to go into town more often without getting took-tooks every time w...
Another good hotel for Laos standards. Good size room with French windows leading onto a balcony. Great Latte in the restaurant and cheap. probably best hotel in Pakse in this price range.
This is a first rate operation well organized which spares no effort in looking after guests. Our tour director and all the staff and crew were unbelievably nice. The food was delicious and abundant and beautifully served. We had time to visit several villages along the way and even visited a primary school and sang a song to the kids. One of the highlights of course ...
I was stay at this place on my first day in Pakse, It was very good room with mountain, lake view! The staff are very good at service and helpful, Restaurant was nice either. Highly recommend!
this hotel is fine for one or two nights if you don't intend to linger in the room. accomm perfectly adequate and good value. Recommend you get a room with a window, and to the rear of the building to avoid the ( minor ) road noise. Very easy to communicate with reception staff and better than other Pakse hotels we tried
This is the only dorm I found in Pakse so as you can expect is a little bit overpriced but staff was really nice and helpful, quite room, bottom bed was soooo comfortable and I had the nicest sleep, wifi was very good, bathroom very clean and is very near from Mr. Noy where you can rent motorbike and get info to do the Pakse loop.
A cozy , serene and quiet place tucked away from the Hustle n bustle of pakse town yet very close to the main market. The manager Nang Sidaphone was kind, professional and efficient in her approach..thumbs from me...Namaste, Sabaidee...
the room is clean and the hotel staff are friendly except they speak very little english. morning can be noisy with the loud speakers next door blasting laos music or some announcements non-stop. a convenient hotel for those who travelled by bus to pakse (especially reached pakse in the night) as it is located nearer to the bus station.
The owner was very friendly, lovely and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast and especially the dinner were super delicious!! We ate every evening in the hotel. We rented a scooter and bought bus tickets for a sleepingbus and every thing was fine. When you are in Pakse to visit the Bolaven Plateau just rent a scooter. It is...
Good and new place. Decent rooms, clean, warm water, tv, fridge, good beds and furniture. Centrally located and good. Price by direct booking a lot lower.
The hotel is not on a walking distance from the centre or "boulevard" and after 21.00 hrs there are no tuktuks to find in Pakse! Breakfast is not included which means an additional 50.000 kip per person per breakfast. We had to change the reservation (change the already paid second day to a date later in the week) which was no problem. Communication was, so somebody ...
The hotel is beautiful on the riverfront The rooms are beautiful hot hot water cool cool airconditioning The owner is an incredibly helpful woman who speaks amazing english going back again Best in Pakse for the price ps check out the Toyota 800 cars rare and beautiful little sport cars
Sitting in an old French Villa turned Sala Champa Hotel in Pakse, Laos on the covered veranda in ancient lacquered rattan chairs, smelling and watching the rain blow in from the Mekong. The grey laden thunder clouds rattle as shopkeepers hurry to pull food, clothing, red Laotian flags and assorted wares into the shelter of their darkened stores. The end of the dry seas...
The Hotel is nothing special. Staff was not very helpful. For example we asked them to order a tuk tuk to the airport for us but they won't do it so that we had to walk to the city center with our whole lugagge and to grab a tuk tuk by ourself.
It's the worst hotel i've ever stayed in, in my entire life all over the world. It says city centre and it's anything but. It's on a side street from a really horrible main road far away from centre. At the airport they didn't even know the hotel existed. The staff only know one word in English, "passport" otherwise unless one speaks Lao,one will be completely lost. We a...
Staff don’t speak any English but we used google translate with them and they were happy to help and try understand us. Hotel was clean and tidy and all we needed for a quick one night stay
The room itself was good, it was big and clean, also the bathroom. The location was central in Pakse, close to several restaurants, rentals and shops. The only thing we did not like was the staff: they are not really friendly or helpful and it seemd we disturbed them with being there.
This hotel is good value as Pakse is an expensive town to stay. It is also a building site and so is this hotel. My room was finished and very nice. My friends had a twin which was not so nice but in due course will be renovated. The staff were not so helpful but this was mainly due to no English being spoken apart from the son when you can catch him. Pakse ...
Booked online w/non refundable rate thru agoda. On arrival was told don't do online reservations so I paid cash for 2 nights. When I returned at about 3pm the desk clerk, same as on ch...
the place was very simple which met all our needs. Room was clean and was a great location. We wanted to be away from the crowd but still have places to wander and walk to which is exactly what we did!
Its a really lovely hotel. Owner made us feel like we where home again after being 6 months on the road. Higly recommended this place for your stay if you are in town.
Lao Chaleun Hotel is nothing special - it was rather mediocre. My room was not very clean. The atmosphere is pretty austere and not really welcoming. Staff were moderately friendly, some more than others. I guess there are better options in town but this hotel is good enough if you have to spend a night or two in Pakse.
Cheap places to stay in Pakse
I really wasn't here long (less than 24 hours), but found that everything was fine. It was clean, beds were comfy, staff were helpful. It's in a good location too. I just stayed here between when I had to check out of my other hotel in Pakse and when I had to leave for the bus. Would recommend!

Easy to check in, quiet on the out skirts of the city, great location to sleep and close to the airport.

Good basic accomadation
I'm travelling for 3 months in southeast Asia, and this was the best accommodation I had so far. The place seems new, big room, with TV (which I didn't used), big closet and great WC. Super clean! The owner doesn't speaks English, but she put me in contact with her sister, who does, and she was very helpful. The only cons is that it's far for the centre if you don't h...
They didn't speak any English at all. The hotel was dirty and old. Only the outside is rebuild last year, but definetly not the inside. It's far away from the city centre and they didn't had any bicycles (despite promising on the website from agoda!) Please STAY AWAY here, there are much better hotels in the city centre for even cheaper prices.

First of all two advices when you stay here: take google translate and a small point it book...... Unfortunately the staff does not speak english, nor french, spanish or any other language than Lao. It was quiet exhausting to explain them our reservation after a 14 hour bus ride coming from Vietnam. Nevertheless, staff was very friendly, always smiled and if you are ...
At present here was not correctly anyone who knew the hotel matters, because the owner´s husband had just died, and the widow was not here. Here is not provide food.
After my bus was delayed by 8 hours I arrived in Pakse in the middle of the night. Staff from the hotel were kind enough to come and find me and give me a lift back. The hotel is about 2-3km from the town centre, but in a lovely quiet location. You can easily get a tuktuk on the main road or rent a bicycle or motorbike to get around. I often stay in Pakse Hotels, I’ve stayed in most of them and none have what I really want so I was keen to stay in this new In Touch hotel. The bathroom also the best, smallish but very pleasant walk in shower. Keen and enthusiastic staff...

I had a really excellent experience at this hotel. The rooms are really lovely, and the staff changes sheets every single day (unlike a lot of hotels these days). While most of the staff didn't speak English, the one who did was extremely helpful and friendly. The building seemed new, but furnitures were old and one shelf was broken. Wi-Fi was OK though not very fast. Staff didn't speak English but this is usual in Laos. Though centrally located, there is nothing special in the city center anyway. Just OK for budget travelers to stay one night and leave for next place.

Real reviews for hotels
Pakse was an ancient capital of a by-gone kingdom. It has a palace converted into a hotel. It has old French colonial architecture that is decently maintained.
Nearby waterfalls are lovely. They are a joy to watch. What surprises me is how few tourists are. It is worth staying a few nights to enjoy the breeze in the mountain areas.
Pakse is a historic city and a gateway to the fascinating Bolaven Plateau, Vat Phu at Champassak and to the Four Thousand Islands.
Pakse is the southern transport hub for Laos only airport in south all buses pass through on Laos Cambodia run good place for 1/2 night stop over
The river is so relaxing and there so many lovely places to eat and bar to enjoy your lunch and dinner.
This was without doubt the worst place I've ever visited. Will I ever go to Paske again? Yes, but only to get the night bus to Vientiane .
Pakse is the chief city in the south of Laos. It is historic and contains interesting Buddhist temples.
Actually not a lot to do in Pakse for a tourist except for some shops, spas and restaurants. But it is quiet, so if you want to rest, this is the place.
We did the green discovery tree tops tour which was the highlight of our trip! We loved it! Pakse itself has little to offer, although we really have it chance staying 3 days.
Pakse is a place for relaxing with nice beer bars along the Mekong river where the locals spend time in the evening with nice music.
A country town, prices for everything even tuk tuk is per person. Charges high , we had to bargain for ages.
The city center is not only around the Main Street where all the backpackers are. Take a day to walk around, see the Mekong and the market and you'll discover a different place.
Pakse itself is not the best place to see in Laos. Actualy we didn't find anything interesting in this city, but it's a great starting point for the Tree Top Experience trip which we found exciting.
Pakse is a sleepy little town that bears testimony to the influence of the French colonists who once resided here.
Pakse is a small city that is very friendly. It is still pure, meaning not influenced by western society (i.
The world heritage site "Wat Phu" is worth to visit surely. Many Europeans want to visit Si-Pan-Don at first choice, but I want to recommend here Champasak province old site.
Good to visit from there after renting a motorcycle, Champasak and Baloven plateau- last to avoid in raining season
A quiet town, Pakse is good for relaxing for a few days in between adventures, due to its proximity to Champasak and the Bolaven Plateau, and as a gateway between the North and South of the country.
Pakse doesn't have any real attractions though is a pleasant enough town to use as a stepping stone to Vientiane.
When I arrive that city, I understand why that city is last calm morning city. May you want quiet time for yourself, I recommend this city.
Its a good down to use as base for daytrips to explore surroundings. Not so many things to do in the city itself
Poor, underdeveloped. Good if you want to see a Laos city that is little changed. Most activities appear to be outside of the town.
You can find everything you want in Pakse, but you have to search for it,excursions to Boloven and 4000 islands are good and visit to Champassak a mustnothing is centralized and you have to go fishing to get the right information.
Pakse the city itself it very small and nothing to see, but it is convinient as teh base for the day trip to see some tourist attractions.
Pakse is the 3 biggest city of Laos. It 's location is best to travel to southern Vietnam and Cambodia
The town itself is not much, but the location makes it a good hub for traveling in Southern Laos. it's a gateway to the Bolaven Plateau, which is nice.
Pakse itself has very little to offer but is rather the hub for Boleven Plateau, Waterfalls, and Wat Phou a UNESCO site
Pakse itself doesn't offer much, but is the hub for Boleven Plateau, Waterfalls, 4000 Islands and Wat Phou (UNESCO site)
Very laid-back, very friendly and easily accessible if you are in Isaan, Thailand. (Ubon-Pakse 3-3,5 hours by bus).
Nearby mountains, water falls, historical sites, temples, coffe plantation, paksong, morning and night market.
Pakse hotels with breakfast

Love the staff very polite very professional
Excellent business hotel, the best in southern Laos
The staff are so friendly and made us feel very comfortable.
Staff performance was ace, attentive and efficient.
The hotel very good location and closed to go any where
and the food you could have is delicious
Top choice for Pakse and the host will make your day
and the staff is super friendly
