Tahiti hotels & places to stay

You can see this hotel from the arrival hall of the Faa'a airport. The hotel is really near from the airport, but as it is located on a hill, it is recommended to take a cab or a car to get there, if you have large luggage. Our room had 2 separate kind-size bed rooms. It was also good that the room had two toilette and two shower rooms. Breakfast is continental and very simple, however, it is available from early hours, therefore, I think this hotel is very good for those who stay over night for a flight or ferry. Room rates are not necessarily cheap, but compared to other luxury hotels in Tahiti island, it is a much more affordable choice. If you don't have so much time here in Faa'a, I recommend to stay here. Lastly, there is a great view of a sunset on Moorea island as well as the entire view of the Faa'a Airport.

The Hotel Sarah Nui looks like a hotel out of one of the old 1940's movies with rich tropical woods throughout the hotel. Very comfortable hotel in Tahiti for a stop over since it is walking distance to the ferry boats. The area surrounding the hotel is a 'little' rough looking, so would not suggest a leisurely stroll to see any night life. The airport shuttle was seamless and recommend the hotel for that for sure. Front desk was very helpful to find ATM's on the island and to make suggestions.

Staff, are excellent, especially restaurant. Fantastic TAHITI show, the best of all the islands we visited. Polynesian buffet fantastic, but also expensive. Again the best of all the islands we visited. Good local bus service from outside the hotel to PAPPETTE, and around the island. Lots of restaurants around the hotel, but hotel better value for money for food. We stayed 7 days, just right.

This hotel is right out of the sixties, with traditional ceiling coverings and the grounds have mature tropical trees and the feeling of an estate that is not tightly manicured. Just lovely. Our studio was well equipped so that we could prepare meals when we didn’t want to eat out. The restaurant at night is romantic and two evenings per week there is live Tahitien music or a ukulele/singing group for dancing or enjoying with tropical drinks and stellar fish meals. This seems to be quite the draw for the community as a whole. My favorite was the walk-in pool with its waterfall, ferns, plantings and palms. I have stayed at the Intercontinental in Tahiti and personally would choose the Royal Tahitien over the former. It is relaxed and down home. We were on an art/design fabric trip. So much inspiration for it right there on the grounds. A $15-20 taxi ride to fabric sector downtown made our shopping easy. Enjoy this place.

This resort went above and beyond all expectations to accommodate us. They even gave us a free 2-course gourmet dinner at their nicest restaurant as a gift for our honeymoon. The staff and locals were among the nicest people we ever met and we've done a lot of traveling around the world. Tahiti felt extremely safe and the locals are a very happy and kind people. I highly recommend this resort and we'll certainly be going back again! Also, it's worth mentioning that the tap water throughout the resort (including in the shower) is completely safe for drinking and there was no concern of getting sick once we realized this. Many people, including locals, agreed with us that this is the nicest resort on the island of Tahiti. You won't regret going!

It may not be easy to locate bungalows within range of ocean tides in Tahiti, which is surrounded by sheltering coral reefs that keep the surf far off shore. Those who love the tides will appreciate the close access to them at Punatea Village, as well as its safely sheltered swimming cove. Great for snorkeling and fishing! Also this place has a huge, accessible kitchen pavilion stocked with plates, utensils, pots, pans, refrigerator and gas stove, so it can be a real money-saver for self-caterers.

This place is perfect to get away from it all. If you are looking for a place on Tahiti iti, this is as good as it gets. Perfect place to spend a few days to a week on your honeymoon and escape the tourist traps. If we had more time I would stay here for a week. I suggest taking a full day tour with Haunui at teahupoo adventures which includes a delicious lunch. This place is the exact opposite of the intercontinental and as such, it is perfect. If you are looking to see the real Tahiti, this is it. The owner will even come cook for you at your flat upon request at a very reasonable price. This is an open air layout with a indoor very comfortable bed. Enjoy!

To be honest, the price we paid for a basic room with shared bathroom is pretty unthinkable in most other places in the world, but it seems that in Tahiti, this is a decent deal. The best thing about staying here was the sweet staff who were very helpful. Other than that, it's pretty basic. Breakfast is simple (bread, fruit and yogurt), but try the mango, passion fruit and vanilla spread that is homemade by the owner. Yummy!

One of Anita's beautiful daughters picked us up at the Aremiti Ferry Terminal, and patiently waited while we shopped at a supermarket. This was necessary as we were staying 3 days and the location of the guesthouse is up a mountain, great views but not handy to shopping. The house itself is gorgeous. Anita, who is from the Austral Islands, is very artistic, and very generous about showing her treasures to her guests. We had the Moana Room, which has an en suite -- the rest share a bathroom, so snaring the Moana is a plus. There is a large sitting room with an amazing painting covering all of one wall. A big dining table is attached to a well appointed kitchen. A very good fruit and bread buffet was left out each morning. The huge verandah is amazing, with an expansive view to Moorea. Anita is very helpful. She or her daughters will drive you anywhere, after negotiating a small fee. Friends visited us while we were at the guesthouse, and she treated them as generously as her own guests.

Studio is not as pictured on site. Studio is in an old, tired building which was difficult to find. The owner was out of town but luckily had a very nice friend pick us up. Studio itself is poorly maintained and in need of repair. For instance, the shower hose holder. was broken One had to hold it in one hand leaving only the other to wash with. Smelled bad; cleanliness questionable. Only good things: location and a pretty good wi-fi connection.

We stayed two nights at this hotel in the centre of Tahiti. If you wish to experience the centre of Tahiti on your own, this is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are basic, but clean and very quiet. Staff are enourmously hospitable and really care. We organised transfer with them by email - everything worked well and they picked us up in the centre of Papeete. The journey up to Maroto hotel is very sceenic as you drive along the Papenoo valley and you will see several waterfalls. From Maroto hotel you can do several walks on your own up the mountains with fantastic views and to several 'maraes' (sacred sites). The food at the hotel was excellent and really delicious (the best we had on our journey across Polynesia). We will definitely return to this hotel on our next trip to the island. Thierry and Katia were great hosts and really made an effort to engage with us despite our lack of French or Tahitian! The fruit from their surrounding orchard was magnificent and there were plenty of amenities close by. The surf was a little large for novice longboarders such as us, but I'm sure seasoned surfers would love it and the break is super close. It's not a white sand beach like you might imagine of Tahiti (most of the beaches on this island are volcanic black sand) and a little wild, but we're used to that sort of thing with NZ west coast beaches. The surrounding area to the lodge looks pretty rough, but the locals are really friendly if you make an effort to say hi and transports easy if you get a pick-up from your hosts at the airport or take the local bus service (which is pretty run-down, but a cool experience and super cheap).

I stayed here for two nights and was very impressed. After reading other guests reviews, I was expecting it to be slightly run down but I found it to be modern and in good condition. The room was very spacious with a very large balcony looking right onto the beach and i had a great night sleep as the bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet apart from the sound of the crashing waves. There was also a good selection of both French and American TV channels. However, I was on the 4th floor which, along with the 5th floor are labelled as 'premium floors' so if these rooms have been refurbished more recently? The restaurant was very nice, a good selection on the menu. Quite expensive although most food and drink is in French Polynesia. It also had a great little market selling souvenirs and jewellery etc. Only real downside of the hotel is the distance from Papeete as it is about a 10 minute drive and taxis are extremely expensive - you can expect to pay 3500XPF plus 100XPF for luggage from the airport to the hotel so I definitely recommend booking a transfer at a third of the price and no extra charge for luggage.

We had q great stay. Victor & Blandine were very welcoming and provided us with some food to get us started, they took us to the supermarket the next day too! If we ever needed anything they were more than happy to help us out. The hotel is on a beautiful lagoon over looking the sea. We used kayaks and snorkelling gear free of charge which is a bonus. it is far from the city centre so a car would be useful but there is a bus that stops almost outside and a local shop a &min walk away.

The staff and owners in particular were particularly helpful and friendly. Both Vincent and Annabelle cooked some wonderful evening meals. The beach , a few minutes from the hotel was quiet and clean with spectacular views over to the island of Mourea. Tahiti is a quiet island , with the exception of the capital Pape'ete. The people are extremely helpful and friendly. I would have no hesitation in recommending the island of Tahiti and the Relais Fenua for a quiet holiday , emerald, clean sea, spectacular scenery and friendly people.

I got there after midnight, the owner request my flight number so she new I would be late. The helpful taxi driver was making phone calls for an hour trying to get her out of bed. I have never stayed in such a nasty place. Even the soap bars that must have been 6 or more months old where sogy and stuck to each other. I have never had to comment like this before, I have travelled to many places so have a good comparison. I asked if I could have a refund for the second night I had already paid for, she said definitely not..!

We had a very nice stay. Only one night as a transit stop prior to departing Tahiti. The staff were extremely helpful in finding us an adaptor for a New Zealand plug. They were also very accomodating organising a driver for a private 3 hour tour before being dropped at the airport. The Hotel room had a separate bedroom off the lounge kitchen area and was very quiet. Comfy bed and linen of good quality and condition. Ideally another mirror next to a power point outside of the bathroom would be good so as makeup and hair can be done in good light. This would also enable one guest to continue getting ready at the same time as someone using toilet or shower. Hallways are dark due to energy saving scheme. If you intend coming in late at night have a wee torch or use cellphone light to light your room number up. The hotel location enabled us to walk from the ferry terminal with our luggage and is a great proximity to Les Roulettes...the food trucks. Would recommend this hotel and no hesitation in staying in a one bedroom room again.

We stayed 4 nights with our two year old. He loved the rooftop pool and we enjoyed the sweeping views of Pape`ete. He also loved sitting out on the balcony for meals and we loved the shady, but private outdoor area too. Angelique and Michael were amazing hosts who were friendly and super helpful, both online via email and when we met them. They showed us to the apartment after we arrived at 11.30pm, they were helpful with our initial questions and explained everything we needed to know in detail. The apartment was fantastic and modern. Everything you need, including AC, clothes washing machine, microwave, WIFI and oven. All essential kitchen utensils are also provided. Not too mention that the supermarket is just less than 2 minutes away. Everything else you need around the ferry terminal is no more than a 10-15 minute walk away. We particularly recommend Bora Bora Lounge just near the ferry terminal for great family friendly dining with a toddler, but with amazing food. A+++
