Nice small hutong courtyard style hotel with small”
Some said this hotel is hard to find, but I think was easy on foot and with map of the area. Street is quite small, so most taxis don't like to drive here and to get taxi, must walk to main street, but it is not too far. Staff was friendly. Hotel is quite small, looks nice. But rooms/bathrooms very small, and winter time cold, must have air con heating all time. Often also come bad smell from sewers. Also doors/windows are very thin so not much privacy in room, can hear everything what is going on at hotel. Hou Hai lakes, Luogu Alley and drum/bell towers very near. So shopping and eating is easy.

The only hotel i will stay in beijing”
an old hutong building, lovely built, clean, good location and value for money. the breakfast is pretty good as well. i just simply love the common area, one is covered , another is open air. if you like to look atvghe stars at night while sipping your hot cocoa sitting on some old bench, choose rooms near the open air common area. else the other covered common area is not bad for warmer snuggling on the sofa after a tiring day walking around beijing. everytime i visit beijing, i will stay here so i have enjoyed both the design. i had great time hanging out at night in the common area with my friends.

Stay in the Hutong district!”
This hotel called the City Court Hotel or the City Court Yard Hotel (see owners website)is located in a Hutong area. Very old district but under huge renovation everywhere we looked. For the money, this is a great place to stay for a night or two. We only had one breakfast inhouse so didn't test the cooking. Eat locally, such good food and so cheap. If you look at Tripadvisor be careful not to get confused with The City Court Inn which is located elsewhere. The Trip Advisor (physical)address for City Court Hotel is incorrect. (I have written to them). We got a taxi from the airport to the hotel. About 70RMB. I used directions given to me by the hotelto instruct the driver who will most likely not take you down the narrow lane to the hotel. It's not too far to walk (500m) but make sure you start out on the correct street. It's a bit of a rabbit warren first time. Walk to the lake. Lots of bars and eating places. Shop around for a Great Wall trip. There are lots of alternatives and prices.

Good value in the heart of the Hutong”
This was our second stay at City Court- due to lack of availability, we had to move to another hotel in Beijing, but came back after a few days because City Court represented better value. Would really recommend this as a great place to base yourself in the city. Helpful staff, clean rooms, a nice courtyard, and right in the Hutong.

Very nice hotel but also very difficult to find. Taxi drivers doesn't know the hutong (small alley) name, so you need to have a printed map of the hotel location. As for the location - hotel located in ancient area (hutongs). The buildings here are from 500 years ago, so if you are looking for comfortable 5* hotel - stay away... I will recommend to stay here for those, who want to feel the Chinese stile of life. This was my fifth visit to Beijing, previous four were for business purpose, so I stayed in business hotels - like kowloon, sheraton and others. This time I choose to be in the middle of Chinese life, and that was a great experience.

Quite good”
Good hutong courtyard hotel. Friendly. Our plane was cancelled and we came a day late, but I e-mailed them and they just slid the reservations back a day, rather than taking my money as a no-show. Stored our luggage when we went on a side trip for a few days. I mostly spoke Chinese with them, but they seemed to know some English. Small rooms, but everything is there, and you can sit out in the courtyard. Wifi and AC both good. Quiet location near the Drum Tower. Only real drawback is that it is a 17 minute walk to the subway station. Most cabbies will not be able to find the place, so have them take you to the drum tower (Gu lou) and find it yourself.

Extremely difficult to find”
The building in which this hotel is located is quite nice. The staff speaks wonderful English and is extraordinarily accommodating to the needs of the traveler. The price of the hotel is acceptable for what you get. While the actual building is old and nice to stay in, I will not stay in this hotel again. The bed was extremely hard, the water in the shower only stayed warm for about 7 minutes and the hotel is extremely hard for anyone to find. Every time a cab was taken it took a minimum of one hour driving in the same area to find the proper location. Having said this, once you do find the building, the area around it is quite nice. A ten minute walk will get you to the heart of a nice Beijing street with many restaurants and unique shopping areas. A good tip if you do choose to stay at this hotel would be to write the phone number down ahead of time.

See the real Beijing”
We stayed here for a week and were very happy. If you want to see the real life of people in Beijing then stay in a Hutong area. The place is clean and the staff are really friendly. We recommend this very highly. It is also worth noting that 5 minutes walk away is a new street full of bars and restaurants so you will be spoilt for choice of great places to eat and drink (both local and international).

Good value budget hotel in convenient Hutong area”
Good value, in my opinion two and a half star hotel in a Hutong area. I suggest you look uo the word Hutong to fully understand. The roads around here are so narrow that the taxi dropped us at the end of a dark alley, with one light shining at the far end. My wife almost rrefused to get out of the taxi as first impression was not good. However once we got to know these narrow lanes we found this is a nice quiet respectable area - it's just the style of house that makes it feel 'poor'. If you like budget hotels you'll find this is a good one with a choice of American, English and European breakfasts - very filling, and eaten in the foyer, but quality is 'standard'. Five minute walk away and you find many small shops and restaurants, and even a small trendy 'walking street' in the evening. You can walk from here two a choice of 3 metro stops in about 15-20 minutes, and it's easy to walk from here to the Bell Tower, then down to the lake.

Nice hutong hotel”
It's a pretty comfortable place and charming in many ways. The staff is friendly and helpful. Staying in the Beijing hutongs these days, however, is less interesting than it used to be a few years ago. The government seems to be cracking down on spontaneous businesses (bars, restaurants, etc.) and the hutongs are now full of security guards, at least in the vicinity of the hotel. Another rather unfortunate aspect of the location is that it's located right in equal distance from two metro stations, which means that it's a rather long walk to do every day. Otherwise, I really enjoyed my stay.

Nice and charming hotel located in the Hutong”
Nice stay in this charming Youth hotel. The room and bathroom are small but functionals, the bed is a little simple, a board with a thin matress, but overall it provide a very efficient sleep. The bathroom has a mixed shower/toilet, so basically once you take your shower the whole bathroom is wet, mine has a little smell afetr shower, but if you close the door, nothing is going toward the room

Nice and cozy small hotel”
I went to Beijing during the China's National day, which I would like to spent the whole week overthere, at first I booked to stay only one night cuz the price is over our budget, but after I told the owner about our plan, she gave us a discount which is very impressed. I can't say this place is absolutely great or very cool, but I believe if I have a chance to visit Beijing next time, I'll spend my time overthere again, but not a whole week.

Dainty quirky, brilliant staff”
The location is an issue. Guloudajie subway station is the closest. Walking was a killer and finding the hotel if you don't have maps etc The hotel the staff and the works were brilliant. The rooms smell a bit due to the way the toilet plumbing is done I guess, but we have that issue in most small hotels based in hutongs

The hotel location is noce if you want to experience the hutongs. It's not in the touristy part,so it's quiet. The room was stuffy,though,clean and pleasant. The biggest disappointment was wifi. I need it for work and i constantly had to spend time in the common area to connect to it,as my room barely had any signal

The hotel is a very traditional Chinese one. Althought the room is small, but it is tidy and lovely, especially the court. if the weather is good, you can definitely enjoy urself with sunshine and beer there. As for the price, it is ok, not very cheap, but it is ok. However, it is a little bit difficult to locate the hotel, even I am Chinese. their number is not registered in the telephone company for enquiry. It takes me more than 30 minutes on the internet to find out how i can go there.
