A cheap but great stay at a superb location”
I stayed at the Citytel Inn for 4 nights from 21 to 25 Oct 11. What attracts me to this small hotel has to be the price and the superb location. The hotel is strategically located along Nanheyan Ave which is adjacent to Chang'an Avenue. Chang'an Ave is one of the most significant thoroughfare in Beijing and if you walk along this street, it will lead you to the famous Wangfujing Shopping Street (5mins), Forbidden City and Tiananmen (10mins). The nearest subway station (Wangfujing) is also a mere 8 mins walk away. Checking in and out of the hotel is a breeze and I did mine within 3mins each time. However, do note that you will need to pay a card key deposit of RMB100 during check-in and this will be refund during check-out (do remember to keep the receipt for the deposit). The single room which I stayed looks exactly the same as in the photo on Agoda, so I am pleasantly surprised as it is not often that 'what you see is what you get' especially for an economical hotel. The housekeepers also did their job really well and I always returned to a clean room at everyday. There is a small restaurant at Level 3 and they are open during breakfast, lunch and dinner only. The breakfast voucher is available at the front desk for RMB20 which is quite a good deal if you do not want to venture out for breakfast. The variety of the food is average but adequate and it consist of mostly oriental offering such as steam bun, fried rice, fried noodles, etc. with hardboiled eggs and bacons. The menu I found in my room also revealed that this restaurant also sell 'stewed dog meat', yucks! I am very happy with my stay at the Citytel Inn as the price is merely 10% of what major hotels in the precinct charged and the location is simply great. Btw, the cost of taxi from airport to the Citytel Inn is only RMB100 (inclusive of toll charges for the Airport Expressway). I will surely stay here again when I come back to Beijing.

Great Location, A Pleasant Stay”
we stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and it was good. the room toilet was clean and big. the hotel room was spacious but the door locked was broken which was not safe for us. therefore we requested a new room and immediately they changed to a new room and it was good as before but not as spacious as before. however, the stayed there was good. even the bed was a bit hard and the pillows were so thin but they gave 4 for double bed and extra blanket. the toilet was good, both toilets. the water flow from the shower was really good. they cleaned the room everyday. my husband left ipad on the table and we were out the whole day and when we were back only he realized he forgot to keep it and it was still on the table which is good. the receptionists at the hotel were friendly eventhough their english was not perfect but they were willing to help you for directions. however, the travel agent for day tour at the hotel lobby can speak perfect english and the travel agent for day trip around beijing at the hotel was good and cheap. we even asked the receptionist to get us a cab to the airport 80rmb. this hotel should be recommended because of its location and value for money. the location is a walking distance to forbidden city or you can take a bus number 82(across the street) to forbidden city and qianmen street the famous pedestrian street in beijing apart from wangfujing. (qianmen street would be the last station and as for forbidden city only one stop from the hotel). for muslim, exactly less than one minute walk from the hotel on your left would be a muslim restaurant called dong lai shun. behind dong lai shun (2blocks away) just walk straight, there's another small muslim shop from that street you can walk further down like less than 5minutes to wangfujing. you will find another muslim restaurant at wangfujing near mcd as you can see it from far. another muslim restaurant is exactly opposite hotel kapok. a lil further down if kapok on your left

Excellent”
My partner and I had a very pleasant and unforgettable trip in Beijing. The accommodation that we had complimented our trip such that it was very convenient to get around and the beds were comfortable after a whole day of walking around town. I would say that the room we got exceeded our expectations for the price we paid. The central location of this hotel is perfect as it borders the high end street road of Wangfujing area and also the Hutong area. There is a mini shuttle tour you will be able to get at Wangfujiing road which takes you around town. We also opt for a tour to the Great Wall by the same organizers. Though slightly a little more expensive, they are more reliable and trusted compared to those that will come up to you on the streets suggesting purchasing their own tours. You will also be able to access the nearby subway station at Wangfujing which is only about 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel. The subway system is very convenient and easy to navigate about. Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are also around a 20-30 minute walk from the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely stay in this hotel again if we do go back to Beijing.

Brilliant location”
i decided to stay at citytel due to previous reviews i had read and they were not wrong. this hotel is not even a 10 minute walk to the forbidden city and the square. there are so many tourist attractions around here. the reception staff are friendly and helpful. my room was very clean. i had a single room without a window but it was just fine, i was expecting a box but it wasnt. a few tips, the chinese are an aggressive hostile race of people. i dont care what people say, english is not widely spoken at all. you will get ripped off even in shops they make you bargain for a bottle of water. but i really enjoyed china, go and enjoy and stay at citytel inn.

Great Location”
The hotel is near Wangfujing Street and Tiananmen Square, within walking distance only. The rooms were also recently renovated. We also loved the buffet breakfast and the price is affordable too. We booked a van with the hotel going to Great Wall Mutianyu at a very good price for a group of 11 people. The only con was that the hotel receptionist were having a hard time speaking in english. Good thing was we had a Chinese friend with us to talk to them. Overall, we loved our stay in Citytel Inn.

Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere”
My stay at the citytel Inn was conveniently situated. It suited my needs for access to booking tours, walking distance to subway station, Tian\anmen Square, local shopping, street markets and fine restaurants. The room was clean, spacious and quiet surroundings. I was able to intra- telephone my family and enjoy a meal with my family with room service using the Citytel hotel Chinese style fresh food resturant- good value for money. Air conditioning was welcome. Friendly staff hailed a Taxi and ensured I left for the Airport safely. I highly recommend Citytel Inn to friends and family and will certainly return next time when in Beijing.

Comfortable rooms at a great price.”
I believe that Citytel Inn is the bargain to be had in the wonderful city of Beijing. The rooms that I stayed in we're always clean and had a full set of accessorie, such as tea pot and hair dryer. There were also complimentary tea and shower soaps, also tooth brush and paste. I grout all my own things so I never used any of their things. I had clean shower towels each day and the bed was made. I do not know if the bed linen was changed. The location of Citytel Inn is great for the traveler who needs to go shopping or sightseeing. The inn is very close to many attractions.

excellent location, value for money”
We had an excellent stay at the Citytel hotel. Our party of 3 adults and 3 children (5,10,12) arrived in at 3am and they were ready waiting for us, friendly. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from 2 family rooms to 2 x 1-BR suites and they added an extra bed in each of the suites. Since we were staying there for 6 nights, these rooms were more than comfortable for us. The bathrooms were massive (could have been a room in itself!), beds were very comfortable, clean sheets and room was very spacious. The location of the hotel could not have been better - 5 mins walk to Tianamen Sq and Forbidden city and 5 mins walk to Wangfujing or Tianamen East Train Station. Since we did everything by public transport, this was so convenient. The hotel also is close to many local restaurants and only 5 mins from Wangfujing St which is full of shopping and large dept stores. The only thing we can fault the hotel is that it's not cleaned that thoroughly. It's pretty clean, but they don't clean the bathrooms as well as they should (I think they gives the floor a once over, but don't wipe down the sink, bathtubs etc. And they're very generous with their supplies - we ended up with 14 toothbrushes and 20 toothpastes! Overall we were very happy with the hotel and would stay again

Great Location and worthwhile”
We were a group of tourists travelling in Beijing. Citytel offered us a very nice family room. Room was clean and neat. Although restroom was quite small but that was good enough. Hotel is located in the walking distance to Wangfujing street and has local convenient stores. Staff can speak English and nice communicated. We will come back for sure.

Clean, Safe & Big Room, Near to Forbidden City”
quite a long walk with luggage from beijing tian'anmen east station (red line 1), about 800m. look for the correct mrt exit to nanheyan street or forbidden city. be aware that lines 1 & 2 are the oldest subway lines and there were no escalators / lifts up or down to the underground subway. we had to drag our luggages up the stairs all the way to the exit. but there are special stair-lifts for wheelchairs. ensure your luggage has solid handles and wheels to manoevre tiled walkways, uneven & broken pavements & curbs. if arriving near to peak hours, it's still better to use the subway than taxi. blocks c and d are connected by a long corridor from 2nd storey onwards. there's only 1 small lobby, which is under one of the blocks. next to lobby are shops. there's a tour company operating in the lobby. room is clean, big and quiet. it's a good budget business class hotel with all the necessary toiletries, hair dryer, daily bottled water provided. no wireless. lan line provided. wireless only in lobby. convenient and walking distance to tian'anmen, forbidden city to front of hotel, wangfujing shopping & food street, restaurants to back of hotel. good base for travelling in beijing city. road in front of hotel not congested or noisy, even though our hotel windows were facing it. bus stop in front of hotel. good built-in room heater and also air-con unit can be switched to heater mode for additional warmth during winter, so you can still sleep in your summer wear when outside temperature is minus 5degc. bed is firm, not too hard. enough lighting in room.

Good location”
This is a good location, a 5-8 min walk from the train station and 10 mins walk to Tiananmen Square, the Hutongs and The Forbidden City. Also, 5-8 mins walk from Wangfujing Street (for retail therapy) and many wonderful eateries (check out apm mall on Wangfujing Street). The rooms were clean and comfortable. Good value for a property so close to the main attractions in Beijing! The Family room (3 pax) was a little tight on space but was sufficient for us.

Clean Room, Great Location”
This hotel was the best bet we found all around Beijing, short walk to most attraction in the city: Wangfujing Shopping Road, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and many beautiful parks around there. Access is very easy as well as it's in the middle of 2 subway stations (Wangfujing and Tiananmen East) so it's a great starting point. Easy to find bus and taxi too. Staff were polite and helpful, rooms and facilities are surprisingly clean and everything works well in order. Overall a good stay. Will definitely come back

Hotel that grew on me”
At first glance, I wasn’t too excited about the hotel as the lobby area was small and the frontage looked like it was just one of many shophouses in that building (later discovered that the hotel actually occupied the whole building). When I first entered the room, the floors and tables were dusty which made me more negative. However the next day I asked the staff to clean the room and they did a fairly good job of it and promptly. Every day after that, they came in to clean the room and I had no issues with cleanliness. The family room which I booked had 3 super single beds. We put 2 of the beds together and it was enough for my wife and I and our children aged 2 and 4. Due to the number of beds, the room didn’t feel as large as I expected a family room to be, but it has a tall window so it does not feel claustrophobic. It was a cold spring week but the air-con type heater and hot water in the room kept us sufficiently warm. The TV had clear reception and many channels but mostly in mandarin. The toilet bowl did choke twice in my 10 days at the hotel. But the maintenance staff arrived each time 5-10 mins after I called which is very prompt. They fixed it with ease so it was not a big deal. With the reliability of the staff, I began to feel at ease staying at the hotel. I became even more pleased with the hotel when I started exploring around and found it to be a convenient walking distance to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing shopping street. This is good because there was one occasion where I decided to make a repeat visit to Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square just to soak in the atmosphere at night and it was convenient enough to take that 10-15 mins stroll there. The Wangfujing train station is also a manageable 10-15 mins walk. Overall it was a comfortable stay and the hotel staff were efficient, so despite the initial feeling, the hotel grew on me.

Great Location, Basic but Great Service!”
We arrived at about 2am in the morning, the lobby is very small and looks rather "2-star". Check-in was done promptly. And we realized that the hotel has lots of room as the upper floors are made up of at least 5 - 6 shoplots. A basic hotel with no facilities BUT we enjoyed our stay throughout - 1. Very good location, with Tiananmen/ Forbidden City, Wangfujing and Donghuamen Street are well within walking distance. There is a bus stop (on the left) within a stone throw from the hotel. Metro - Both Wanfujing station and Tiananmen East Station are within walking distance. 2. Room size is not big but good enough for 2 persons; mattress is a bit hard though (which is pretty common in Beijing/ China). Basic but clean. 3. All hotel staff is very prompt and helpful (we have no issue communicating as we speaks Mandarin). Asked for directions and all explained patiently, even help us to google the info when they are not sure. We originally arranged to stay in another hotel for the rest of our 3 days in Beijing but later decided to stay on till we fly back home.

Perfect location near subway and center of Beijing”
i stayed at citytel three times coming in and out of beijing on this trip. the staff was up in the middle of the night to receive me one of those times which was helpful. this last time i had a single room with a view out toward the forbidden city hidden in the mist( read smog!). but indeed romantic. on airport return, i took a taxi from the hotel to the aviation building at xidan subway station and from there the 16 rmb airport bus which will drop you at your terminal. this is preferable to a pricey taxi or even the express train which stops too far away if one has luggage. if all you have is a small bag, you can get to xidan on the underground first before taking the bus. i the middle of the night i took a cab from the airport to citytel. it cost $115 rmb.

Good Location”
Beijing is a great country with lots to offer --- food, tourism, etc. For a solo traveller like me, I did not have a hard time finding Citytell Inn. I took a cab from the airport. The chauffer was kind and honest, although he spoke a little English. I was brought safe and secured to the hotel. Citytell Inn is near the Forbidden City, around 7 to 10 minutes walk. No need to take a cab from the hotel. Good hotel, clean and organized. Good receptionist, both the young lady and gentleman spoke good English.

we had enjoyed our stay in thi hotel. Very nice ambience and hygenic bed sheets and bathroom. the hotel is close by to Wangfujing street which is most happening street in beijing. it is just 15 mins walk from the forbidden city. cheap and best hotel. value for your money. we enjoyed our stay here. Thanks!!..

Great location, nice rooms.. ”
great room, nice bathroom, very affordable. probably the best price/quality hotel in beijing. yes the hotel corridors are smelly, because of a horrible restaurant on the same floor (chinese food, and chinese breakfast only), and don't get the cheapest single-room (since they're in the basement with no windows), the mattresses are rock-hard (in fact you should avoid this hotel if your back can't handle a hard mattress), and no taxi-driver will be able to drive you to the hotel since they don't know it. (nor do they know the main street it's on. beijing taxi's are a disaster!)... but besides all that i'd still highly recommend it. it's location is great (5 minute walk to forbidden city, nearest metro station and fangfujing), the staff is friendly, and there is a computer available in the 'business centre' where you can check your email. it's bit strange on weekdays this business centre is actually the personal office of a hotel staff member, but she'll leave her office whenever you need to use the computer. (she was also drop dead gorgeous, but that's irrelevant to this review) :-)

Hotel is Recommendable”
This hotel is highly recommendable to friends who will visit Beijing in the future. The Citytel Inn is an old but well maintained hotel. The rooms are clean and the service is commendable. The hotel is strategically located. It is near most famous tourist spots of Beijing and the shopping center.
