Great Location, perfect spot for a business / pleasure stay on the West Coast, although there is not much of a beach you can hobble along the inshore rocks at low tide and get to the Sandy Lane Hotel beach, staff were all very friendly, but Sinata at the bar needs to moderate the Rum measures ! Two "Coke and Rums" (as opposed to Rum & Cokes) on the first night in, - certainly cured the Jet Lag !

Good hotel and the location is probably one of the best in the island. A 5 min walk away from St Lawrence Gap (bars and restaurants), bus stop just outside the hotel where you can catch a public bus or a minivan every 2 mins towards Bridgetown and the north/west or towards Oistins (Friday night fish fry), access to a decent beach in front of the hotel incl. sunbeds, walking distance from other beaches, etc. Pool is good, good facilities altogether. Room was very nice and spacious. Before arriving, we sent an email to ask for one of their renovated rooms (they also have older rooms). They said they couldn't guarantee, but when we reached we did get a renovated room. Only negatives were: 1. Check in is supposed to be from 4 pm. We arrived around 5 and had to wait for ~30 mins as our room wasn't ready. 2. There is a loose rooster in the hotel grounds. Why would host a rooster in a place where people pay you to sleep? 3. There was a huge ugly hole on the wall in our bedroom.

The hotel is located at the end of St. Lawrence Gap in Dover. It's right across the street from the Dover public beach entrance, which is nice. Parking on the street is good. The hotel is not that great. They have free wifi that is terrible. It constantly drops out and is very slow. The breakfast, if you're booking doesn't include it, is $40 Barbados dollars. It's terrible. The scrambled eggs were green. The sausage was under cooked. Certainly not worth the money. You can walk down the street and get a better and cheaper breakfast at the St. Lawrence Gap Pizza Hut (not affiliated with the USA chain restaurant). Also, Saturday nights (they don't tell you this when you check in) they have a live band on the bottom floor in the sports bar/restaurant. There is VERY loud music until past midnight. For those of you flying back to Miami on the 8am flight on a sunday, please don't expect to get to bed early. The bass from the music and the band literally vibrated the sliding glass door. I like loud music, but this was obnoxiously loud for a hotel. I called repeatedly to ask them to turn the volume down or to do anything to make the hotel room we were in more comfortable. They didn't do a thing.

Stayed 7 days. Nice location. right across the sea. Had a room with nice sea view. Very close to the popular fast food restaurant - Chefette . Easy access to local transportation. Staff at the reception and Housekeeping (Beverly) were very friendly and helpful but not at the restaurant!! Poor breakfast. Bathroom need some renovations.Pool close at 6 pm on a holiday island is absurd.

This hotel is a 60 second walk away from a small supermarket. A 2 minute walk away from a jaw dropping beach, and has Restaurants and bars surrounding it. I don't usually stay in hotels like this. However we decided on a whim to go to Barbados and this was the best mix of location and price available at such short notice. I can only imagine that the low star rating for this hotel is because of the noise during the night - because the rooms, views, cleanliness and service would not be out of place in a five star hotel. The rooms are very large, and equipped with microwave, ipod speaker dock, alarm clock, hob cooker, fridge and a freezer. There is a fairly large balcony and the view is something I will never forget. The location is fantastic. We are both in our mid twenties and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the nightlife right on our doorstep. There are two negatives. The hotel is noisy during the nights (due to its close proximity to so many bars). Now I had heard several horror stories on various websites about this issue and had packed ear plugs for us. However I did not find it anywhere near as noisy as we had been led to believe and we didn't even use the ear plugs. So I am not sure if we just got lucky with the room provided to us. It is fairly noisy, but certainly not intolerable. The second negative I really do have a problem with. You can not step outside the hotel without being harassed by somebody trying to sell you drugs. Now I am aware that the reason we were singled out is because we are fairly young. The issue I have is that the same people are repeatedly trying to sell drugs, knowing that you have told them several times previously you are not interested. One night this did cause an argument between us as I was apparently rude to somebody who offered me drugs for the 20th time in 3 nights. This can't be blamed on the hotel though.

I booked a suite with an ocean view at Sugar Cane Club Hotel. Upon arriving I was greeted with a cool moist face towel and deliciously sweet Rum Punch. All staff were extremely friendly. Manager puts on a free mini local art show at the hotel with all the rum punch you can drink. I loved the statue of The Contemplating Woman. I did not go out into the local town because I was too tired and fell asleep after dinner. Breakfast was delicious, I love eggs and the chef made me a 6 egg omelet with no attitude. I highly recommend purchasing the local lotion from the hotel gift shop, I haven't found any lotion that smells that great. The hotel is about a 45 minute taxi ride from the airport. This hotel was booked by a large majority of 45 and older crowd. Not a party hotel.

Liked the hotel majority of the staff were nice ,took a while each time when I been on reception ,till the male receptionist aknowladged me,cleaning the room meant making the bed and roughly brush the floor,mop it roughly and changing the bins nothing more the bare minimum,would of been good if they pay more attention to the details to clean the surface of furniture a bit ,brush the floor better,finger prints and the rest on mirrored covered wardrobe .Breakfast it's nice,but do not buy pizza at the restaurant as it's cans ingredient on top of the base trrrible.The guys from the restaurant and the security were the friendliest and gave the best service.The lady from the excursion it's very nice helpful with funky personality.Massy supermarket it's close by which is handy and few min from its the fish market ,buses from the hotel can take u to airport directly (nr)3D BUS so u dönt need to pay furtune for the taxi also oposite direction takes u to the Gap Where ARe restaurants .

the room was fine and everything was clean. staff were friendly. view was great. restaurant was mice for a drink, but food was not so good. had to complain several times before they fixed a problem with the hot water in my shower (it wasn't hot) and to get them to come and fix my tv which they had to replace as it couldn't be fixed. i don't mind the problems, i do mind them taking two or three days to fix them.

Melbourne Inn is a very basic place with an adequate room for a night or two. There are no facilities except room had a kettle, microwave and a plate and glass so I guess it is self catering. There was a jacuzzi but judging from the state of it , not used. Barbados is generally an expensive place to stay so if you want a cheap place for 1 night as I did this is probably the best choice.

I would recommend this hotel everything was perfect until our money was stolen from our room, we were really annoyed as we had planned to do so much with the kids but were unable to do so because of this. The manager was very helpful by offering free food and taxi to the airport. But I would have preferred just to have my money back, we felt very trapped because but otherwise everything else was absolutely perfect. The food here was really nice too! The hotel staff especially Reginna and the manager were absolutely amazing 10/10 for customer service. I can not fault them at all.

I selected this property for the location, cost, and rating. Every measure was great, to the point of looking for something to detract from my stay. That would be a little music wafting over from the party area of St Lawrence Gap. The hotel is nestled in a garden like setting off the main drag, so there is no traffic noise. Toiletries were top notch. Rooms serviced daily. Staff were friendly, professional, and accommodating. Food in the restaurant was great. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Public Transportation to town and back is steps away from the driveway. It's well lit at night. I will stay there again. Special thanks to Katrina and Carnella.

We stayed five nights in this hotel and it was really nice. A very good location. 5 minutes-walk you can reach a beautiful beach that has pink sands. Room is clean and tidy too. furniture is not of modern style but very comfortable. All house appliances are functioning well. Wi-fi connection is good all the time. Swimming pool is cleaned everyday. Restaurant is reasonable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I won't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to barbados.
