A little hidden gem!”
We loved staying at Fly by Knight, and found the room to be clean, well appointed and modern in its furnishings. We had a loft room which was very small for a family of 4, so next time would book the Boutique Family room. There is a choice between a simple American-style breakfast or a delicious muesli with toast, hot coffee and drinks which you can take from the fridge and pay using the honesty bowl. The staff were helpful and spoke good English. We found it easier to walk about 5 minutes to the main road (to the west) to hail our Didi taxis. It was hard to find the place initially as it is so well hidden among the winding streets, but someone came to meet us when we got a bit lost!

A fantastic way to stay in more traditional housing, away from the chain hotels. ”
The hotel was clean, super quiet, with friendly and helpful staff. Located 10 mins walk from the subway, 20 mins from Forbidden City. It was so nice to turn off the Main Street and walk a few minutes through the quiet hutong to arrive at the hotel. Nice breakfast with tea and brewed coffee provided. The loft bedroom was quiet, bathroom clean and modern. Common area had a stocked fridge that worked on an honesty system. Key card access to the hotel and room. Taxi could drop off and pick up at the hotel, which the staff helped arrange and guide taxi there. Only point to note is the loft bedroom would be difficult to reach if you were mobility-restricted, with steps and a low ceiling to negotiate. But fine for people without restricted movement. Thank you FBK for making our stay in Beijing so wonderful - it really made all the difference to our visit staying there.

We loved the friendly staff and accommodations at Fly by Knight Courtyard. The courtyard was very well preserved and was a cozy alternative to a stiff hotel. We would recommend it to anyone!

The best place for a stay in Beijing ”
Beautiful courtyard, nice and clean rooms. Simple but good breakfast. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Helped me with booking a trip to the great wall, the part where not a lot of tourist come and it was one of the highlights of my stay. The hotel is located in a hutong which is also a great experience. Easy to find, and close by a subway station, busstops and a shopping street. Highly recommended.

Loved our time at Flying Knight! The Staff was so friendly and helpful. Stayed in a family room with 2 other friends and it was perfect - comfortable beds & our own bathroom. Would definitely recommend this place!

A Little Gem”
We stayed here for four days and had a lovely time. The staff were very helpful, spoke English, and helped organise a tour to the Great Wall for us (and even checked the weather forecast to find the best day). We loved the breakfasts, and the staff recommended a nearby restaurant for our evening meal. We loved that restaurant so much that we went back three times. The location though was initially very hard to find at the far end of a car-free hutong! So be sure to get yourself a detailed local area map - my Google Maps didn't work in China - to initially find it. It's within walking distance of places like the Forbidden City, provided you're energetic. But we also used the Subway, and the local station was nearby.

Quaint traditional Chinese courtyard house (四合院), taste of old times!”
It has been a brilliant stay at this courtyard! The staff were all thoughtful and helpful. The courtyard is about 5mins walk from Dongsi Mrt Exit C station, among the residential area. An eye opening experience to stay within the hutongs! We also tried the two restaurants recommended by the staff (local Chinese food, and charcoal steamboat) and we were happy with the food!

Lovely place to stay”
Daniel and staff are very accomodating and helpful. Felt at home the entire time. The rooms are clean and well maintained and the location is excellent - about a 15-20 minute walk to Wangfujing street. Would definitely stay here again.

Classic China, quiet and comfortable”
This Classical Chinese home in a well located hutong has been updated to include all the necessary amenities. Most comfortable bed I've ever had in China. The location is fabulous: a 10 minute walk to Wanfujing and a couple of subway stops to Tianenmen, the Forbidden City and Beihai Park. The staff could not possible be more helpful and hospitable, even to lending guests a cell phone during their stay. Great value for the cost.

Incredibly welcoming and relaxing”
We all had a great time - it was a very easy place to stay in for four nights. We were given lots of helpful advice about where to eat and how to travel to the sights we were interested in seeing. There was a lovely communal dining area, where you could sit round a table and listen to people chatting, some played cards, others completed homework. The look of the place was traditional and you could sit out in the courtyard in peace and quiet, even though it the place it was set in was a very bustling area full of narrow streets. I would definitely come back here, it suited both my children well (they are 11 and 15).

Great traditional hotel close to the Forbidden City”
I stayed at the hotel for two nights during my tourist visit to Beijing. It was difficult for the taxi driver to find the place, so prepare a map and the complete address when coming here. The hotel is great. Very calm and quiet, the rooms are beautiful and the staff really made me feel welcomed. They organized a tour to the Great Wall on very short notice (we asked at 11pm the night before and confirmed the trip ten minutes before leaving).

Charming, cosy stay in the hutong”
Central location to all the sights. The loft room was warm and cozy during the cold weather. There's a sofa in the small area below where we could sit and relax and pack our stuff. The stairs could be a problem for those who are too tall or have mobility issues but other than that, the loft itself was spacious and very comfortable. The courtyard is beautiful and breakfast provided a great start to the day. The hutong itself was quiet and safe. No problem navigating our way back in even at night.

Traditional Hutong Stay experience”
Overall is a good experience to stay at the traditional courtyard house. They are trying to upscale the service level which I can feel it during the time I stayed. It can not really compared with an established professional managed hotel but a upscaled bed and breakfast.

Interesting Tucked Away Little Place”
We liked the staff (thank you Mikka) very much! Place is hard to find; had to be fetched. We were upgraded from Standard Loft room to Superior. The bed is on the floor in the loft. Tiny sitting area and shower stall. In-floor heating also heats the mattress. The place is very clean. I hit my head twice on the low entry upstairs. Unsafe stairs for coming down. There are lose mats on the top two steps and no handrail, so be careful coming back down. I highly recommend they install hand rails. The breakfast is 35 yuan. Skip it. “American breakfast” is anything but. One each: strip of bacon, slice of spam, hard fried egg, slice of toast, one breakfast sausage left me still hungry. Were able to leave luggage on check out day. OK place, taste of traditional life, very far to walk in the cold from Dong Si Station. Otherwise not far from Forbidden City/Tiananmen Square.

Very good”
Stayed 3 nights. Room is clean but tight for 4, especially the shower room. No flushing of toilet paper needs getting used to. Many times we threw the soiled paper into the bowl accidentally and had to retrieve them by hands. My children winced. It would be good if you can provide a bidet-hand spray or a tool to retrieve the papers from the bowl. All in all, the experience to stay inside hutong is authentic & very Beijing. Area is relatively safe & is full of Beijing residents.

Hutong Accomodation Par Excellance”
It's really interesting, right in the middle (and I DO mean the middle) of one of Beijing's historic hutongs. Expect to walk in, taxis can't get closer than 500 metres or so. The "loft" suite was small, and I barked my shins climbing the stairs up to the sleeping area. The staff are lovely and speak good English, which isn't that common. The building is very interesting, and the breakfast was great. An excellent base for exploring Beijing, as long as you don't mind a bit of a walk.

Loft rooms need agility and balance”
Location is a bit confusing to find inside a hutong, but we went to get a feel for authenticity.. Rather far from the Dong Si subway, OK to walk but not to drag luggage. Taxi from Dongzhimen station from Airport Express only RMB18, so don’t fall for the 120-300 RMB traps in front of the station. Mikka was superb, she helped us plan and showed the way. Kudos! The loft room we got was right in front of the office area, needs some care arriving at the top, bumped my head and shoulder twice. Needs a guardrail on the way down. Bed very comfy! Got heated floors, so watch temp. Very clean. Shower stall tiny, don’t bump the handle or you might scald yourself. Breakfast 35RMB/pp too expensive, skip the plate of one small sausage, one breaded potato patty, one slice of toast, one egg, one slice of Spam. There is a supermarket on the way to the DongSi subway, buy some hot food upstairs. Not that close to Forbidden. Buy Subway pass.

Real ancient building in Beijing”
The hostel features traditional styled Chinese building, but of course it has modern facilities including powerful wifi (though VPN is needed) and air conditioners. The hostel is hosted by a friendly Taiwanese man who provided good services during my stay. The hostel also has some events like Chinese martial arts teaching and roof climbing to view old Beijing for visitors. Overall, I recommend this hostel.
