A little hidden gem!”
We loved staying at Fly by Knight, and found the room to be clean, well appointed and modern in its furnishings. We had a loft room which was very small for a family of 4, so next time would book the Boutique Family room. There is a choice between a simple American-style breakfast or a delicious muesli with toast, hot coffee and drinks which you can take from the fridge and pay using the honesty bowl. The staff were helpful and spoke good English. We found it easier to walk about 5 minutes to the main road (to the west) to hail our Didi taxis. It was hard to find the place initially as it is so well hidden among the winding streets, but someone came to meet us when we got a bit lost!

Lovely place to stay”
Daniel and staff are very accomodating and helpful. Felt at home the entire time. The rooms are clean and well maintained and the location is excellent - about a 15-20 minute walk to Wangfujing street. Would definitely stay here again.

Cozy, relaxed and super-friendly”
The staff was amazing and very friendly! They spoke excellent English and was very accomodating, they even packed us some breakfast since we were leaving early the next morning. The room was cozy. We were only there for two nights, but in a way we would have wanted to stay longer, so that we could have been more a part of the experience living in this hutong area.

Friendly and helpful staffs. Cozy and authentic ambience. Serve nice but Limited choices of breakfast. Toilet cannot accommodate too much feacal matter and clots easily despite already not disposing in toilet paper. Walkable but quite a distance from nearest mrt station.

Charming, cosy stay in the hutong”
Central location to all the sights. The loft room was warm and cozy during the cold weather. There's a sofa in the small area below where we could sit and relax and pack our stuff. The stairs could be a problem for those who are too tall or have mobility issues but other than that, the loft itself was spacious and very comfortable. The courtyard is beautiful and breakfast provided a great start to the day. The hutong itself was quiet and safe. No problem navigating our way back in even at night.

Loft rooms need agility and balance”
Location is a bit confusing to find inside a hutong, but we went to get a feel for authenticity.. Rather far from the Dong Si subway, OK to walk but not to drag luggage. Taxi from Dongzhimen station from Airport Express only RMB18, so don’t fall for the 120-300 RMB traps in front of the station. Mikka was superb, she helped us plan and showed the way. Kudos! The loft room we got was right in front of the office area, needs some care arriving at the top, bumped my head and shoulder twice. Needs a guardrail on the way down. Bed very comfy! Got heated floors, so watch temp. Very clean. Shower stall tiny, don’t bump the handle or you might scald yourself. Breakfast 35RMB/pp too expensive, skip the plate of one small sausage, one breaded potato patty, one slice of toast, one egg, one slice of Spam. There is a supermarket on the way to the DongSi subway, buy some hot food upstairs. Not that close to Forbidden. Buy Subway pass.

Interesting Tucked Away Little Place”
We liked the staff (thank you Mikka) very much! Place is hard to find; had to be fetched. We were upgraded from Standard Loft room to Superior. The bed is on the floor in the loft. Tiny sitting area and shower stall. In-floor heating also heats the mattress. The place is very clean. I hit my head twice on the low entry upstairs. Unsafe stairs for coming down. There are lose mats on the top two steps and no handrail, so be careful coming back down. I highly recommend they install hand rails. The breakfast is 35 yuan. Skip it. “American breakfast” is anything but. One each: strip of bacon, slice of spam, hard fried egg, slice of toast, one breakfast sausage left me still hungry. Were able to leave luggage on check out day. OK place, taste of traditional life, very far to walk in the cold from Dong Si Station. Otherwise not far from Forbidden City/Tiananmen Square.

Will come back to stay this house if I’m come back to Beijing”
I very like the house provided activities and facilities. Feel warm like home. The morning shift girl staff is friendly and helpful. Imperfect is we get con by the night shift boy! We are 2 adult and 2 young children arrived to the hotel at mid night Dec 8th, 3am. The weather is really cold and we knock the door and keep calling the hotel, after around half an hour, the boy only come out to open the door and show unhappy face to asked us hv booked hotel here? I booked 8th to 10th (2 nights) only RMB900. He not allowed us to check in. I have to immediately to buy one more night, and he charged me RMB700 for that 8 hours use room. I’m no choice at that moment since my children very cold and tired at that moment.... I felt get robbery and the night shift boy so impersonal!

Hutong experience ”
Pros : 1) Big room. 2) good heating facility, heat come up from the floor, fell good and warm. Cons : 1) can't throw toilet paper into the toilet bowl. 2) strangely no television in the room.

Nice place, give you the experience of living in the traditional courtyard house.”
Very nice and eclectic place. Just some suggestions, better remove the book shelves etc near the bed because it will only collect dust. The guy beyond the reception desk can be a bit more friendly. But he might have a bad day, who am I to judge.

Cute courtyard, not so cute rooms”
Curtains a bit dirty, bathroom clean but smelled due to old pipes. We stayed on the upper floor, but aircon only was able to blow down into 1st floor, rather than our sleeping quarters.

A fantastic way to stay in more traditional housing, away from the chain hotels. ”
The hotel was clean, super quiet, with friendly and helpful staff. Located 10 mins walk from the subway, 20 mins from Forbidden City. It was so nice to turn off the Main Street and walk a few minutes through the quiet hutong to arrive at the hotel. Nice breakfast with tea and brewed coffee provided. The loft bedroom was quiet, bathroom clean and modern. Common area had a stocked fridge that worked on an honesty system. Key card access to the hotel and room. Taxi could drop off and pick up at the hotel, which the staff helped arrange and guide taxi there. Only point to note is the loft bedroom would be difficult to reach if you were mobility-restricted, with steps and a low ceiling to negotiate. But fine for people without restricted movement. Thank you FBK for making our stay in Beijing so wonderful - it really made all the difference to our visit staying there.

We loved the friendly staff and accommodations at Fly by Knight Courtyard. The courtyard was very well preserved and was a cozy alternative to a stiff hotel. We would recommend it to anyone!

The best place for a stay in Beijing ”
Beautiful courtyard, nice and clean rooms. Simple but good breakfast. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Helped me with booking a trip to the great wall, the part where not a lot of tourist come and it was one of the highlights of my stay. The hotel is located in a hutong which is also a great experience. Easy to find, and close by a subway station, busstops and a shopping street. Highly recommended.

A Little Gem”
We stayed here for four days and had a lovely time. The staff were very helpful, spoke English, and helped organise a tour to the Great Wall for us (and even checked the weather forecast to find the best day). We loved the breakfasts, and the staff recommended a nearby restaurant for our evening meal. We loved that restaurant so much that we went back three times. The location though was initially very hard to find at the far end of a car-free hutong! So be sure to get yourself a detailed local area map - my Google Maps didn't work in China - to initially find it. It's within walking distance of places like the Forbidden City, provided you're energetic. But we also used the Subway, and the local station was nearby.
