Guandu hotels & places to stay

When arriving at the hotel at 5 AM because of a late flight we where told, there was no booking. The Agoda Voucher did not mean anything to the receptionist. It took two hours of discussions to be checked in. Contacting Agoda for help was quite impossible. At check out two days later we had another hour of quarrelling before the reception contacted Agoda for the first time and found out, there was a problem with the hotels booking system.

This hotel is near with the big local market and very easy to find nice food all day and night. You can see local people and a little bit country side if we compare with the downtown of Kunming. The local market is lovely and food named "Mee Chiae" or rice noodle soup with pork and Yunnan spice are lovely near there and also cheap price. This hotel 's fantastic service is picking you up from the airport for free and take you to subway station or airport also free. But I suggest you should call or contact (for picking you up) staff before you arrive China.

We had a 17-hour layover in Kunming and were looking for a hotel that was close to the airport and had airport pick-up. We found a few hotels that had pick-up, but almost all of the hotels seemed to be 20-30 km from the airport. The good thing about this hotel is that it is only a 10 minute drive from the airport. When we got to airport I was able to call the owner of the hotel who came and picked us up. We got two rooms for our family of five. The room we had our kids in only had a squatter toilet, but our room had a regular toilet. The rooms were not heated, but there were electric blankets on the bed that kept us warm at night. Overall the rooms were very clean and the hotel looked relatively new. Not great accommodations, but good enough for a one night layover.

This hotel is in a beautifully picturesque neighborhood. The hotel itself is a pink fantasy straight out of a Wes Anderson movie. The staff was very helpful. But...the room smelled very badly of smoke, and it seemed like only one or two outlets worked. The bathroom taps only put out scalding water, and while the sheets were clean, it felt like they were the only thing that had been washed. But...it was cheap and beautiful. FYI--it *is* located near an airport, but that airport is permanently closed.

The hotel is not that closed to airport as it masked. The right location is 25.048973,102.887316 and takes 20minutes from Airport by car, can not be walk to. The owner is very kind and helpful. He can speak English well. I took this hotel because they provide free Airport pickup to hotel and arrange shuttle bus pickup to Airport only 20Rmb/person. The room is fairly good if compare with price. Short stay is more than OK. My flight was 2:30am, but the owner pick me up with warm welcome, so appreciated.

Great location close to train station, airport bus and subway line. Lots of restaurants nearby. The staff were excellent. I arrived late but there was no problem. When I realized that it was going to be difficult to get to the airport for my early morning flight, the manager helped me to find a,hotel close to the airport and spoke with the owner of that hotel to make sure their airport shuttle would get me there on time. Also, even though I had prepaid online and was not going to try to get a refund given the notification of cancellation policy, she assisted me in getting my money returned. She spoke very good English and she resolved efficiently and kindly what could have been a very difficult situation for me.

I've stayed at other locations of this chain in different parts of China. They've all been clean and neat with a helpful staff. The location of this propert in Kunming, however, was right next to what appeared to be a scrap metal yard and far from any conveniences other little neighborhood (Chinese style) shops. Metro was about 1/2 mile walk and Starbucks and Carrefour and shopping area about twice that far, taxi to airport was 80 yuan. Metro to town only 8 yuan rt. Be aware that there is no longer train service to the Stone Forest and a car and driver for the trip runs about 600 yuan and does not include entrance fee. There was one English speaking person on staff but inexperienced not very helpful though she meant well. The little restaurant at the hotel serves Chinese food only. If you want a clean place to stay and don't mind a lot of walking or a lot of taxi fare or the scrap yard next door this little inn will do.

This place is $27. For that money, it's worth getting a hot shower, and a good rest. I had 12 hour layover in Kunming, and I really wanted to get a good shower and place that I can lay before another 12 hour flight. I was a little skeptical after reading all the reviews, but hey I'm glad I give it a shot. When I arrived at Kunming Airport, I went to the information centre, and I gave the guy the hotel's info and their phone number. He called them for me, and a guy from the hotel came to pick me up in 20 minutes. They paid for the toll fee, and it was absolutely free. They also offered airport drop off for free. It's not a super nice bus, so don't expect fancy bus. The hotel's also not 5 star hotel, but it has hot shower, a decent bed, and a clean toilet (no smell)- you will appreciate this after using toilet at the airport! MAKE SURE YOU SCREENSHOT ALL THE INFO! - your connecting flight info & the hotel's address and phone number, cuz wifi doesn't work at the airport.

We stayed here for our very first night in China. The area around the hotel wasn’t really appealing but just about all the airport hotels were around this area so we weren't going to get much better unless we were willing to pay for a 4 or 5 star hotel. The hotel itself was fine, we felt safe and that was the important thing. The staff were alright, they tried their best to help us through our pathetic use of the Chinese language but we managed through translation apps. The room was relatively clean but could be better. It had the basics and we weren’t staying there to be in the lap of luxury – not at that price anyway. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel and there are also other restaurants within walking distance if you are adventurous enough to try them out. A free airport shuttle service is provided for all arriving guests – you just somehow need to communicate with them about your arrival at the airport (someone called the hotel on our behalf). A free shuttle service is also provided to the airport from the hotel but this shuttle is for all the airport hotels in the area, so it gets very packed and you need to book. From all the reviews on the other hotels nearby, I think this is probably the best of the lot for the price point.

Its very far from the city center. You can get there by taxi only and the hotel is very hard to find. Hotel is situated in the newly area where is nothing around. There is just one restaurant and one small shop. Staff cant speak english but they are very friendly and for translate we used comp translator. From this hotel you can get easy to famous stone forest in Shilin. Room is big and clean with good equipment. Room didnt have air conditioning and heater. In winther is to cold in the room.

I was on a flight that landed at midnight and had a connecting flight at mid-day. The hotel has a driver who picks up and drops off. My room looked exactly like advertised. I was just there to sleep so it served it’s purpose. And they have a receptionist who speaks English. My only complaints are that the room was cold even after I turned on the heater, a pillowcase smelled like cigarettes, a soap wrapper from the previous guest was on the sink, and the shower water wouldn’t stay hot. If I ever have to transit through Kunming again, I’d stay here again for this price.

I stayed here only 1 night because we have to move to another city but we really feel great on this hotel even lobby and entrance look small but inside is not too small. This hotel has elevator. Room exactly right on photo shown when I booked online. It's clean and wind prove. They provide free LAN internet if you bring your laptop. It's a bit hard to find where to eat, I have to walk back to Jinbi Square direction to find restaurants which mostly locate near Jinbi Square. One good thing for this hotel is on main road, it's easy to catch taxi at front of hotel to airport or other places.

my room was clean and well-kept, bedding mostly clean and bathroom looked sharp and clean, despite nicks starting to show in the furniture. I didn't see many facilities like meeting rooms or exercise rooms - it's just a place to sleep, but for that, it's great. despite the kunming subway construction going on outside. It is the best stop to transit to any other tour as the bus station is just behind.

I'm not terribly picky but this hotel is not ideal as the last hotel after three weeks of traveling. Although the room is adequate, the night club on the 3rd floor can be heard from the 6th floor late at night. Breakfast finishes at 9 AM. That was too early for me. The worker at the business center couldn't arrange my tickets. Luckily I had friends in town who could help me book tickets. Above all, no one could communicate with me in English.

This hotel states restaurant and bar on site. I have no idea where the bar might have been, but the restaurant was merely a small room at the end of the third floor. And, it was only open for the meager breakfast. I had planned on buying lunch and dinner there and then was told they're only open for breakfast. The location itself is not great, very dusty, end of the road, really not much nearby. However, the one great thing is how close it is to the airport. Good internet connection. My window wouldn't shut all the way so somewhat chilly. Fairly accommodating staff. Free shuttle to/from airport.

This hotel was hard to find...the taxi driver dropped us off at the Plateau Pearl Group and when we tried to check in, we were told that was not a hotel. The girl there was very nice and called us an uber using her phone. We paid her cash and she made sure to tell the driver to take us to the hotel. Apparently this happens all the time as there are other businesses with similar names in proximity including a large mall. The hotel was not close by the airport as expected, about 40 minutes away. Lots of food vendor close by. Room were adequate. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful, but I was disappointed when I was told that they could not make taxi reservation for me. I arranged my own transportation to airport using an application called China Taxi. This was my first time in China and learned a lot as to what to expect and not to expect. I didn't like the location of this hotel and would not stay there again.

This hotel is in new condition and good for travellors if you want to go shopping in town or go sightseeing but do not misunderstanding about the distance from the kunming airport like us. It will take 30-45 mins, 20-30 km from the airport to hotel. Taxi drivers can' t speak English and will try to take you from the airport with no use of meter and the cost will be double. Even the hotel officers can find you the taxi but the driver always try no meter use. So make the deal (using meter before getting in the taxi. However, their hospitality is very impressed and the hotel itself is money worth

Excellent location. Close to all transport... train, underground tube and public bus. Public bus only costs Rmb 2 per trip however long the distance. Don't need to pay more for route 23 for tourists. Airport bus parked right next to hotel... 30 min frequency, takes around 40 min and Rmb 25 one way. Swift check in and out. You will need to pay Rmb 200 as deposit on check in and it will be refunded on check out, no question asked. Lovely and responsive cleaner and staffs. I stayed in room 2725 on 7th floor (highest on the Fashion Block), facing inside so very quiet. Room is modern and clean. No complaint at all. Well known hotel for locals and overseas travellers. Will definitely stay there again.
