Great price & great location”
Friendly & helpful staff who spoke good English. Short walk to 2 subway stations. Cheap accommodation for good air conditioning & pretty comfortable beds. Bathrooms were not awesome but on par with all of the other bathrooms we have used in China!

Good price, excellent location, decent room.”
Happy Dragon Backpackers is tucked away in a noiseless side street, between two subway stations, about five minutes walk from either one. It is also within walking distance of the Forbidden city and Wangfujing Street. It is a hostel so bring your own soap, but the room was clean, A/C blasts is good for heating or cooling, bed is comfortable enough and the staff are nice. One guy at reception in particular was extremely useful when he helped shut down a scam artist who was trying to extort money out of me. The staff member calmly argued my case to police officers (I don't speak Chinese) who then forced the scammer into a humiliating back-down. I was a happy dragon.

Good Location near hutong”
Good clean room, good location near Dongsi station, about 5 min walk. Water pressure not so strong, but acceptable. Good value if you are out most of the time and only need a place to sleep and freshen up. From Dongsi station, use exit E. Turn right, walk about 150m and you will notice a metal door of a construction site on your right. Walk straight through this door for about 200m and you will see the hostel. It's beside a hutong.

Very good”
Nearby with subway station. English speaking staff. Good price but somehow i feel a little bit regret staying here since we’re coming in a winter and heater is so slow almost not functioning, we sleep in a very cold atmosphere. Another season should be okay staying here.

Very low standards in hygiene, staff super fiendly”
Location was very good, next to metro station Dongsi, room was very shabby, window was broken and just fixed with a tape, so very cold in the room. Bathroom was really dirty with a lot of mold and hair from the last guests. „Please clean my room“ here means just putting new toilet paper inside. Within 4 days they never cleaned the bathroom or floor. During the night it was very loud from other guests. There are no instructions and house rules at checkin so of course people don’t care. Although I complained, it didn’t really help. Positive: staff spoke English and was super friendly and helpful. They also listended to my issues and I hope they take it seriously. So sum: if you like clean bathrooms and rooms: really don’t go there. If you don’t care about that it’s a good hostel for sightseeing in Beijing.

Kind of overpriced but good location ”
Beds were fine, aircon worked but made weird noises, bathroom was dirty and things were old and dingy. The location is perfect but it still seems too expensive for what it is.

Ok”
The staff are friendly, helpful and speaks good english. I also liked the breakfast :) Drinks were also sold at the reception. Room was ok, but toilet is a bit dirty, and sometimes smelly (seems that sewage smell goes up to the toilet) Suggestion: have a weighing scale for luggage 5 mins walk from exit of subway but additional 7-10 mins walk when alighting from the train itself. Dongsi (Line 6) Subway has escalators (info for those with heavy luggages).

Dirty sheets, stinky bath, discusting staff”
For emergency better than nothing. At the moment very loud construction for a shopping mall outside. Only positives: good toilet paper for chinese condition and warm shower.

Go for the staff alone”
The location is great, can walk to the forbidden city, main shopping streets etc. and the subway is less than 5min walk. The hostel is old but still very clean{just a little investment is the bathroom would go a long way}, but by far the main reason I returned to this hostel was the staff especially Amanda, They were so helpful in any aspect we needed, from wrighting it out in Chinese for us or just in simple advise as to where to shop locally. A++ for the staff

An unexpected trip turned out to be so great”
* Good points: - The staff are really helpful, friedndly and attentive. They sell tours but they would recommend me to go on some tours on my own because it is easy to do that and not necessary to go on tour. They also guide me really carefully how to go and where to get. I really appreciate that because I can explore on my own. - Easy access to subway, just 5 minutes walking to the nearest station. - Food is delicious. - The staff are also really honest which is the best point. * Some points that I was not satisfied with: - Shower in my room doesn't work properly - I had to wait so long for food. Totally, I had a good time with Happy Dragon hostel and would give a good rate and recommend to everyone if you are looking for a good budget hostel.

Homely ”
A group of 3, we took up the triple sharing room. Consist of a bunk bed plus 1 single. It was a comfortable stay, though it was a small room but if you only have your backpack to take care off then it won't be much of a hassle. The great thing about this hotel is the staff themselves. Very friendly and accommodating. They have cheap and good tours to recommend, so you don't have to waste time looking elsewhere. We took up 1 day tour to Badaling Great wall. It was great with lunch provided. The only major hassle was finding the exact location of this hotel for the first time. We arrived from the metro station and made a huge round before finally locating it. It depends from which direction you are coming from, as there are a few alley way that can get you there. It is near many shops and restaurants, very accessible. We found quite a number Muslim restaurants nearby. There's a cinema complex near the hotel. Wangfujing street is about 15mins fast walk from the hotel.

Staff”
Taxi drivers are having the difficulties finding this hostel but the most I love about this accomodation is their staffs. They are always there to help you. The location is very accessible to the metro station and to most tourist attractions (forbidden City). Definitely worth the money you pay. P.S Just prepare RMB 100 for deposit but this will be returned to you once you check out. Every hotel I think requires a deposit so this is not an exemption.
