We've stayed in hundreds of hotels. This is possibly the best value for money hotel we've ever stayed in. Perfect location just off the city mall, and centrally located to see the sites of Suzhou. Food and shops all around. The room was very spacious, the bed and linen perfect. Excellent spacious bathroom with good water flow. The staff were friendly and helpful. Wide breakfast choices, both Chinese and Western. Subway station near the hotel. The 'Oak Tree Garden' cafe immediately opposite the hotel owned by a British/Chinese couple does great tea and scones, along with a wide variety of other food. And close by is a great restaurant that does fantastic Peking Duck for a low price that's scarcely believable. If we visit Suzhou again we wouldn't even think about staying anywhere other than the 'Soul'. This hotel really does have soul. And I haven't even mentioned the Happy Hour 20RMB (approx. US$3) cocktails in the Soul Bar yet!

Great hotel but hard to get to, Suzhou's fault”
When I arrived at Suzhou train station, I went to get a taxi in a massive queue of people. As usual in China, there are a couple of people hanging around at the taxi line offering you a ride for about 20x the usual price. When I finally got a taxi, he brought us just into the outskirts of town, then mumbled something about the police and dropped us off without charging us. We then had to walk a few hundred meters and find a guy with a bicycle to take us to the hotel. Then when we wanted to get back to the station, we looked everywhere for a taxi. Couldn't find one, so had to get a bicycle guy again. He powered his way to the station, but couldn't make it in time. We missed our train by about 2 minutes... Considering what I paid for the room, I think the hotel could have organised a station pickup/drop off. The bicycle guy is interesting, but we were counting on a motorised vehicle to make it in time... Anyway, the hotel itself is really nice, the breakfast was great and we really were comfortable in the king size bed. To be fair, no hotel I have stayed at in China has offered a station pickup, or shuttle bus, so I can't expect that from Soul. But that's one big problem with Suzhou, the lack of taxis (I got an earful from the mrs...)...

Great location & excellent service”
The hotel is very modern and clean, the room is spacious, location is very near to GuanQian street. The breakfast is great with many varieties. The hotel provided free shuttle to Suzhou railway station and some attraction on hourly basis. Many restaurants are nearby. All the front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. During our stay, we encountered an emergency case , which need us to travel back to home country immediately. We called the front desk to seek for help in the midnight of 2 a.m to get us a transport to go Shanghai Pudong airport in the next morning 9.00 am. The staff are very helpful, help us to call and ask around the travel agents to book a car for us even during midnight. Hence, I'm highly recommend this hotel to anyone who visiting Suzhou.

Best Location and value for money”
This hotel is located at next to Guanqian Street (Walking Street), you got plenty of food and shopping in the area. There is one food alley known as Tai Jian Nong, where you could find all the restaurant and food stall there. Metro station (Cha Yuan Chang station) is just 300m away from the hotel , which is very convenient for us to travel Suzhou. The room is very spacious, just little complaints are the pillow was too soft and the wash room was too dark. Breakfast is good, variety of choices, including western breakfast such as cheese, ham and bacon. The staff is very friendly and able to communicate in English.They also provide free shuttle to Suzhou train station and some of the sight seeing places. Definitely will stay again if i will visit Suzhou in the future.

Very Large Comfortable Room at a Fair Price”
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Soul Suzhou very much and could have stayed longer if we had the time. The location was central so that we could easily reach the major sights of the city. Our room was very spacious and clean and included a desk, a flat screen TV with foreign language channels such as CNN and a safe. The staff was friendly and helpful even though most could not speak English. Breakfast was included in our rate and offered a mix of Western and Asian fair; however, the quality could be improved somewhat, eg the coffee was not great, the pastries and some of the other cooked dishes had little taste, which I believe would not be difficult given the excellent quality of food we had in Suzhou at a very reasonable price. All in all, we were very happy with our stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone without reservation.

Simply Exceptional ”
We booked 2 deluxe rooms and stayed 4 nights in Suzhou Soul Hotel. Hotel location is excellent with many eateries and shops all within walking distance. Rooms are comfortable, clean and big. Buffet breakfast is delicious with wide spread choices of both Asian and Western food. We were greeted with smiling faces from the front desk staff as well as senior staff throughout our stay. Special thanks to Danny Kwok, Jacky Yang, Howie, Rebecca, Vincent, Peter & Coco, just to name a few. They are helpful in giving assistance at all times. Even the house-keeping staff are commendable. We will not hesitate to recommend anyone to stay in Suzhou Soul Hotel.

Convenient and good value hotel”
The hotel is centrally located just beside the famous GuanQian street shopping belt, and is within 10 minutes from the Suzhou train station. Check in was fast, hotel staff was friendly and spoke good english. The room though only had simple renovation, is nicely decorated and was big and well kept, housekeeping staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is served by a good selection of buses and is only 10 minute walk from a nearby subway station. being centrally located, it is also accessible from many tourist attractions in the city area. overall a very good value for money hotel, will definitely stay again if visit suzhou in future.

A sleek boutique offering in a convenient spot”
I stayed at Hotel Soul for three nights and loved the design of the hotel - it is the only boutique accommodation in Suzhou as far as I'm aware and a refreshing change from the identikit feel of Holiday Inns/Marriotts and so on, with art works adorning the walls, cool chairs in the room and lifts with three different themes, including a space theme. The standard of English is quite good for a city outside SH/BEI inside the hotel but you may still need your phrase book if you want to ask the front desk some questions. Location is very good - within walking distance of the historic district, Pingjiang, and close to many other attractions, such as Quanquan Jie (shopping street) and the lovely Temple of Mystery. There is a French restaurant inside the hotel, but as I'm vegetarian, I can't really report on the food as I just had a salad and soup, which was okay. I would definitely stay here again if I came to Suzhou.

Wonderful for Suzhou trip, strongly recommend to stay in”
I stayed 3 nights with a kid at Soul Suzhou. It was a perfect choice and I really love the perfect location, kind staff(special thanks to Susane, Angus for warm hospitality and good information), free ride to the railway station & to the humble garden, nice breakfast, a clean room, remarkable interior (especially the three elevators with different cultural concepts), quite nice dining at the hotel restaurant. It would be a wonderful stay when you choose the Soul Suzhou! I would love to visit this hotel again.

5 star hotel, hidden gem”
when i arrived in suzhou i didn't know what to expect. the hotel was more than i could have hoped for. i haven't stayed at one of the other luxury hotels in suzhou yet, but this one blew me away. it was less than half the price of the shangri la and i'm sure they are at the same level in terms of size and quality of rooms. it appears to be a new designer hotel, which can sometimes mean they squish you into as tight a space as possible. at the hotel soul suzhou, however, this was definitely not the case. i set up my laptop with the broadband internet and got some work done at the desk in the room. lay out on my king size bed and ordered room service which arrived promptly (but needed to be paid in cash). the only negative thing i have to say is that the included breakfast was not a highlight, with a buffet of mainly chinese food and little for western tastes. also, the entrance is hidden away from the main street, and the view is non-existent.

Great location, sylish, clean, great rooms”
We recently stayed at Hotel Soul for 3 nights. We read previous reviews and decided to stay there. We were not disappointed with the hotel. The rooms are quiet, clean, beds nice and firm. The bath was huge with walk in shower and completely updated. The staff was very nice and the manager, Cissy, upgraded our room when our original room's ac was not working adequately. The breakfast buffet is very nice with a huge Asian selection and much smaller western offering but still quite good. The location is hard to beat right off the main pedestrianized street. Our taxi from the train station had to leave us off around the corner as he couldn't drive down the street the hotel was located on since it is in the pedestrianized zone. No worries. Returning to the train station we walked a few blocks to Renmin Lu and hailed a cab immediately. I highly recommend this hotel. I am a seasoned traveler having been to over 100 countries and this was my 2nd trip to China this year. I like to stay in hotels that have character, in a good location, and offer value for your money. I can say that Hotel Soul fits this category.

Epitome Hotel in China”
We were overwhelmed by this hotel. This hotel is new and value for money! The staff are very polite and friendly .Always smiling ,even the aunty who cooked the noodle for us was very polite and jovial. Room is new,clean ,spacious , deco is very unique and lintersting,especially the deco in the interior of the lift. location is very convenient, 5 mins walk to Shopping belt Guanqin Street. Breadfast has many choices. There is a free shutter bus service from High speed rail to hotel ( must book a day advance) Highly recommended this hotel for anyone who intends to stay in Suzhou. Very awesome hotel!! We had a pleasant and we enjoyed our stay in this hotel ! Thank you Hotel Soul for everything.

A pleasant surprise”
Initially, we intended to book Novotel at Jingji Lake.After reading the review on Hotel Soul, we decided to try it for this trip. We were pleasantly surprised in every respect; the location is perfect, the facilities adequate, the staff were very attentive and polite. More importantly, the management and the whole team take the guest feedback seriously and take steps to ratify any shortcomings.When we were there, Angus went around to see if the guest were happy with everything. Marco would follow up on any negative feedback, and Star, the captain and the staff were always there to lend a helping hand. Last but not least, the hotel shuttle service driver took the trouble to go out of his way and sent us to the North Bus Station. Thank you for looking after us so well. Would definitely consider staying here if and when we visit Suzhou again.

Good value and convenient”
The hotel was conveniently located to see the main sites in Suzhou - either by foot - 10 mins to the canal area or by short taxi rides. The staff were efficient and helpful. The rooms were big and well furnished. The TV had international channels, including BBC news, CNN and Discovery channels. The bathroom was large with a walk-in shower with all necessary toiletries included. The bed was big and comfortable. The breakfast was included in the price and had a western as well as Chinese food choices. All in all - it was very good value for money. I would definately stay in the Suzhou Soul again if I go to Suzhou.

This hotel is the bomb. ”
This hotel is seriously awesome. We sadly only had one night but absolutely loved our deluxe room. Comfy, funky looking, spacious. Lonely Planet says this place is lacking soul, and they are WAY off the mark. Each floor has its own theme and my fiancé and I took some money photos of how the hotel and elevators were decked out. Location is good, value is brilliant. Can't imagine there is anywhere in Suzhou that is under 100 bucks and a tenth as good.

Hotel Soul Suzhou was a highly affordable and value for money accommodation option in Suzhou. Furnishings of the hotel was edgy and modern with a funky easter egg waiting for you in each of the 3 lifts that you take up to your hotel room! Rooms were well equipped and spacious for three. Staff were accommodating and quick to respond to any of our needs. Breakfast was decent. Highly recommended!

A Good Location hotel and a very courteous staff”
I have been travelling for 15 days in China and I like Soul Hotel best of all in Suzhou. Its value for money. It has transport to the train station and the Humble Administrators Garden with the hotels driver who was very courteous. The breakfast spread was good and room size was spacious and very modern even with a spacious toilet and bathroom. The hotel reception staffs were extremely helpful as they can converse in English as well. Its like a five star hotel. I will definitely come back to Soul Hotel.

Superb Hotel in the right spot in Suzhou ”
We arrived in Suzhou from Shanghai by train mid-morning, too early for normal check-in. Reception were really helpful and gave us an free upgrade which allowed us to go straight to the room. When we got to the room we were blown away. It was very modern in design, nicely furnished with a large separate entrance hall, massive bedroom/living area, full size work desk and large flat screen with all the channels and to top it off, a beautifully designed large bathroom. The hotel is of very modern trendy design and very different to standard hotels, even the lifts were unique, all three with different themes and flat panel displays. There are two restaurants attached to the hotel, we used both. The French inspired ground floor restaurant was open all day serving western and fusion food and was the venue for breakfast. Upstairs there is a Chinese restaurant serving normal Chinese faire during the day but with a lunch specialising in dim sum. Both restaurants were excellent, the food was both broad range and delicious, with the added bonus of being inexpensive. Another real bonus was that the hotel is only metres away from a pedestrian shopping area where it was possible to casually stroll, people watch or shop, whatever took your fancy. We found all of the staff, a couple of whom spoke good English, really friendly and helpful, and in fact they arranged at very short notice a driver to take us around the main tourist sites at a very reasonable rate. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Suzhou, and would certainly return given the chance.

I had a 2 night stay in Suzhou, the hotel is really close to the metro at chayuanchang station and is also near to the Suzhou railway. The hotel breakfast was great too, great variety. Most importantly the staff at hotel soul Suzhou is really commendable for their great services from the ground staff, Housekeeping team and the driver who drove us to the attractions area. Superb stay would recommend this hotel if u are on a Budget with a great service.
