"Best choice if you do not want to splurge. The other hotel is way too expensive. Room is big and faces the Gorge so you can see and hear the water gushing. Smell the fresh and cool air when you open the windows at the sides. Breakfast is not as bad as I had expected. Chose to stay here instead of Hualien so that it is more convenient to hike the trails. The Baiyang trail is a short walk away and is my favourite among the other scenic trails. Go early to avoid the crowds. Beware of the steep slope you need to climb from the bus station or the nearby 7-11 to the hotel. Not for the elderly and do not bring big luggages if you are taking the bus here."

"Good location, near the entrance of the Taroko National Park and the bus stops. Liwu Hotel is old but well-kept. It bears with it a character so warm and familial, it made our stay relaxing and restful. It seems the hotel is family-run---based on the reviews I read. The staff speak little English but they were able to anticipate and help us with our concerns. We ate all our breakfasts and dinners at the hotel, and we always looked forward to the very tasty beef noodles after a day of hiking; all the meals were tasty and well prepared. The free buffet breakfast that came with the booking was ample and filling. If I ever go back to Taroko, I would stay at Liwu Hotel again. "

"The Leader Village is a unique one as it resides in the centre of the Taroko National Park. Usually tourists have to book a cab or a guided tour to pay a visit to the park. But as the hotel is located inside it you can access it via a variety of trails available in and around the Hotel. It would take hours if you really want to see most of the park and the rich history that comes with it. The hotel is managed by local aborigines families and even though they aren't trained in hotel skills, they serve with their heart and that is more than you can ask for. Even though it is a little pricey, the cabin is clean and managed well by the staff, there is little or no insects that would pester you and you can thoroughly enjoy the fresh and and surreal environment in this place. If you are looking to relax and breathe in some mountain air, this is the place. As I was there in Novemeber, it was cooling enough not to switch on the air conditioner for me for the two nights that I was there. Foodwise it is a little on the asian side, but they did have spaghetti for breakfast on my 2nd morning. And anyway, you are on a holiday of another country, definitely you would want to try some local delicacies?"

"Crystal, Nora and the entire front desk were exceptionally patient and helpful in helping our family see and experience the best of Taroko in the short time that we stayed due to our need to travel south to Tainan the following morning to visit relatives! They quickly accommodate us on the Baiyang Trail Tour, squeezed us into 5:30 dinner reservation time, and contacted on our behalf my elderly uncle who only speaks Taiwanese to arrange our meet up in Tainan which they painstakingly researched train times connecting transfers it was amazing the front desk’s hospitality and genuine support! (we ended up missing the stop for Tainan due to children squabbling after long day and ended up In Khaosiung) but all’s well that ends well! Thank You from the bottom of our hearts, Silk Place Taroka! Keep up the excellent customer service attitude and team work! "
