The hotel is located near the Dengshikou station but you can also get here via Wangfujing station. Easy to hail a cab as well if needed. It's walking distance to Forbidden City/ Tiananmen Square (about 20 minutes) and it's close to Siji Minfu Pekng Duck restaurant, one of the locals' favorites. Also near Wangfujing Street where there are a lot of local food stalls, shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. There's a souvenir shop nearby as well that sells cheap goods. The room is also spacious and the staff is very helpful. They will really try their best to understand you (not all are good in English). Buffet spread is good, particularly the coffee selection. Not a lot of meat options, but a lot of healthy options. Definitely my hotel of choice if I were to go to this part of Beijing again.

it was really a great experience at sunworld hotel, me, my family and friends really enjoyed our 5 days stay in kuala lumpur. they have smiling, friendly and accommodating staff and the rooms are very clean but cheaper. if you want to go on shopping you can just walk around because it's just steps away to shopping areas. oh our buffet breakfast and lunch were also the best, the foods and service looks like as if you are in a 5 star hotel. we recommend our friends to stay at sunworld hotel, the best place to stay in malaysia.

We stayed here for 3 nights for Easter weekend and the hotel was a perfect base for sightseeing. Traffic is a nightmare so we took the subway everywhere and the station is right next to the hotel. The hotel is 5 star in quality, the concierge was the best concierge service I have seen in a long time. The rooms were large, clean and had everything you would expect of a luxury hotel. I will definitely stay here again next time. Although, opposite the hotel is the Legendale Hotel (very blingy and over the top but also quite interesting!), worth checking it out.

got checked in really fast as we arrived at about 2 in the morning. the receptionist that night wasn't particularly rude but he wasn't exactly friendly either. asked him if there's any shops that serves local food for supper nearby and he just told us to order room service. the food was alright and the portion's rather huge. anyways, the hotel is within really short walking distance to the famous da dong roast duck restaurant at jin bao plaza. the food's really good. great variety and lovely atmosphere. skip quan ju de. park plaza is also rather close to the wang fu jing shopping district though i have to say there's nothing much there and its literally made for tourists. it's also about a 20 minute walk to the forbidden city. take a stroll there. it's lovely and not too stuffy on the winter. we booked a deluxe room as it stated here that it's above the 8th storey and we wanted a view. and we were given the 8th storey. they said they had no rooms left which is ummmm ... but forgoing all that, the room was above my expectations. it's a really good 4 star hotel, there's everything you need there. hair dryer, a hot tub after a day in the cold weather, tv with many channels, lots of space for your winter luggage. and most importantly, it's really clean. and the best part is, when we realized at the airport after we had checked out that i had left my ring in the room, the staff actually brought my ring over to the hotel in a sealed envelope after we called them to ask if my ring is there and if it's possible to bring it to the airport as our flight was in an hour and a half's time. it's really the best stay ever. thank you.

i loved this hotel, value for money, what you see in the pictures is well, what you would get. travelling with family with older parents. booked 1 deluxe room and 1 suite room. both rooms were spacious, new, clean, bright, comfortable. you get fresh, clean and white towels daily, laundry service good, all in all very satisfied. hotel staff are all very obliging and polite. toilets are huge, there's 2 toilets for the suite room, shower area of the suite room comes with high ceiling, good water pressure, bathtub etc. front desk was very helpful in answering our questions (eg: how to get to places, where to go to get certain things). it does live up to its 4 star rating, since most 4 star hotels in china tend to be more like a 3 star hotel. subway/metro station: dongdan station, abt 3 minutes walk. nice and quiet area. cons: menu for room service was limited, not near amenities (eg shopping centres/super markets).

hotel is conviniently located next to wangfujing which is a shopping belt full of good 'local brand' shops. the famous hot pot and the beijing roast duck. you can also find a hundred years old shop selling all sorts of fabrics; there is another shop selling hats. the things you can find at wangfujing is limitless. and near the hotel is the tian an men square where one can stroll the square and see the crowds !!

I arrived after a very long fligh,rather tired,to be greeted by nice,polite and efficient young people at reception.Another kind youn man helped me with my luggage to my room.The room:big,beautiful,very comfortable bed,excellent matress,minibar well provided.Lights well sited,air condition working well.The bathroom ,complete,a la francaise,excellent.I must say that all this was a great surprise,much appreciated by Latin people like me.I was given some complementary fruit in me room,this was another good surprise.Lets us go to the dining room for breakfast:the reception girls,the young French manager?very polite and helpful.The waiters,discrete,efficient,polite.Buffet both Chinese and European ,again with the French touch of croissants,baguette,crepe and many other things.The Chinese side had a huge choice of different dishes as well,all fresh and tasty food. Back to the bedroom:I forgot to mention how generous toiletries and how nice and polite the room girls are,they manage to communicate in spite of not being fluent in English,but they do their best to please. Shops:I tried the clothes shop,top quality of very modern clothes and very nice shop attendant.Same commentaries for the shop nearest to reception,which sells of ort of Chinese beautiful things.Very polite lady working there.I did not use the currency exchange,but it is available all the time. Again reception people were nice,polite and efficient when I had to check out,both sorting out my account,dealing with my now heavy luggage and finding a proper taxi.The door man wrote the number of the taxi on a card which was given tome,just to make sure that everything goes smooth.This shows care and responsibility for the hotel guests till the very end. The hotel is located in a "Hutong", i.e., a very small alley. Most taxi drivers refuse to go into those, but I arrived at 11 p.m., it was dark, and I couldn't see the hotel from the entrance of the Hutong, so I begged and pleaded with the taxi driver, who finally consented to taking me all the way to the hotel (I gave him a good tip for his pains). Once I arrived, I found that the staff had, indeed, read the message I left through Agoda about my adult daughter arriving separately and much earlier than me. Overall, the staff was very helpful ... from booking us on a tour to the Great Wall and rebooking it due to some unexpected health issues, to serving us breakfast extra early so we could make it to the tourbus on time. The facilities are nice, but in a few places could use some repairs. The (included) breakfast was a mix of traditional Chinese food (sweet and sour pork, rice porridge, etc.), and Western foods such as cereal, French Toast, regular toast with butter, jam, cheese, and some fresh fruit and yoghurt. The location is within walking distance of the Forbidden City (GoogleMaps helps a lot in getting there) and easy access to a subway station that gives quick and rush hour-free access to Beijing South Railway Station and other sites for just a few RMB.

My friends and I had such a great time here! First off, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They were able to give us directions to everywhere we wanted to walk to (it's super close to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square), called us taxis, told us the specific subway route and stops to take to get to the train station, and even reminded us to take our passports to the Forbidden City, which is not something we would've known to do. The rooms smaller than western-style hotels, but use the space efficiently, and the bathrooms are really nice - I loved their showerheads! We took advantage of the retractable clothesline in the bathroom to wash a few shirts and things - they provide laundry soap along with the other usual consumables like toothpaste and shampoo - and came back at the end of a long day of sightseeing to find that the staff had neatly folded our clothes for us once they'd dried! The breakfast spread is really good, and there's a lot of variety, so everyone should be able to find something they like. There's also a bar in the hotel, which we heartily took advantage of every evening. And although it's not usually something you look for in a hotel, I appreciated that they had souvenirs for sale in the lobby. They were a lot of the usual touristy things (fans, chopsticks, teacups, red lacquer bowls, figurines), but they were at totally reasonable prices. I bought a fan from them for 30 RMB that I later saw in a tourist-trap stall marked as 120! I doubt I would've been able to negotiate that low with my meager haggling skills. My only negative experience, and it has nothing to do with the hotel itself, was with finding a taxi to take us here when we first arrived in Beijing. It's down an alley, so one taxi didn't know where it was, and another just didn't want to drive there at all. It's only a short walk from the Dongsi subway station though, so I would suggest taking the subway here or, if you get a similarly uncooperative taxi driver, ask them to dro

The room was big and clean with all the amenities I expected. Breakfast was ok, but I have to give props to the hot pot restaurant, it was delicious and reasonably priced than outside hot pot restaurants. Location was good since it is near majors attractions but the hotel itself is located between 2 metro stops, so a 10 minutes walk to either metro entrance. Staffs were overall great, friendly and helpful, with the exception of the check in staffs of that particular night, they weren't mean or rude, just not particularly friendly or informative. I would definitely stay again though! Well worth the money and reasonably priced compared to other 4 stars hotels in the area.

The hotel isn't too bad but just not perfect. Overall rooms and services are ok. Breakfast is the pretty much the same stuff every day although there is a relative wide spread. The hotel is not inconvenient but it is not within close walking distance. Perhaps the few minutes of walking would be tolerable but in the summer heat, any minute less in the heat would be good. The nearest subway about 5 minutes away is the Cultural Center station but it requires multiple changes of lines to get to most of the attractions in Beijing. Wasn't as convenient as if you would stay near Line 1 or 2 or 4/5. Overall, the price isn't cheap too and can be considered steep. For the price, much more is expected. Hotel staff at breakfast also needs to explain more about the signing of the bill every morning for the breakfast before guest misunderstood that we may need to pay for breakfast when it's included in our package. Pool wasn't too bad with a slightly hot tub besides it. Didn't go to the gym.

While the staff deliver 5 star service the hotel's infrastructure is no longer 5 star, with the exception of the pool/gym. Ownership needs desperately to invest in a refurbishment of the rooms/halls, etc. That said, at the right price point, this hotel represents arguably the best hotel value in Beijing. Through a prepay/no refund deal available only on Agoda, my wife and I obtained a great price (excluding breakfast but including taxes for 5 nights in early Jan 2014) and, thus, enjoyed an excellent stay. Our grand deluxe room was quite comfortable and, when a few things needed fixing, the staff responded immediately and quickly resolved the issues. The lobby lounge is a very good spot for meetings over tea/coffee and the gym/pool are excellent. We did not eat in the hotel so no comment on dining. The location of the hotel is great and, for those interested, there is a subway stop less than 5 minutes walk. There are also coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, etc., all within a very short walk of the hotel. In sum, while this property is no longer 5 star in overall quality and certainly not nearly the same quality level as the rest of the Peninsula Hotels around the world, at the right price point it is worth considering and for visits to Beijing. We will certainly consider it for our next visit.

quite a long walk with luggage from beijing tian'anmen east station (red line 1), about 800m. look for the correct mrt exit to nanheyan street or forbidden city. be aware that lines 1 & 2 are the oldest subway lines and there were no escalators / lifts up or down to the underground subway. we had to drag our luggages up the stairs all the way to the exit. but there are special stair-lifts for wheelchairs. ensure your luggage has solid handles and wheels to manoevre tiled walkways, uneven & broken pavements & curbs. if arriving near to peak hours, it's still better to use the subway than taxi. blocks c and d are connected by a long corridor from 2nd storey onwards. there's only 1 small lobby, which is under one of the blocks. next to lobby are shops. there's a tour company operating in the lobby. room is clean, big and quiet. it's a good budget business class hotel with all the necessary toiletries, hair dryer, daily bottled water provided. no wireless. lan line provided. wireless only in lobby. convenient and walking distance to tian'anmen, forbidden city to front of hotel, wangfujing shopping & food street, restaurants to back of hotel. good base for travelling in beijing city. road in front of hotel not congested or noisy, even though our hotel windows were facing it. bus stop in front of hotel. good built-in room heater and also air-con unit can be switched to heater mode for additional warmth during winter, so you can still sleep in your summer wear when outside temperature is minus 5degc. bed is firm, not too hard. enough lighting in room.

EChoose this hotel cause it is new and in the best location in Beijing. Staff are nice and helpful. Facilities are all in top grade. There is room to improve. Like better communication on check in, reception should tell us the room to room line is disable between 22:00 - 08:00. Adding a small rubbish bin in toilet room. One more tissue box in living room. A small table next to sofa for placing tea and food...etc. Anyway, the overall experience in this hotel is great and comfortable. Would like to visit again

Took a bit of a tussle even with the baidu map to reach this place, but once you find it, you'll figure directions easily - great location close by Jingshan Park (literally 200m away), the forbidden palace and other closeby attractions. Location is not short of eateries and supermarkets, and is accessible with buses and a 15 minute walk to 2 different subway stations. Although customer service wasn't eloquent in English, they tried their best and was very helpful at check-in and when we had questions about directions and getting to the railway station. Room was pleasant and wifi works well too - nice place for a quick rest for a day of exploring. I'd definitely recommend staying here and would book another stay if I visit beijing again.

I used to work in one of the only 4 diamond hotels in my state in the United States. So i know what goes into a hotel and am usually very picky. This hotel was amazing. It was clean, they were polite, the staff spoke english. This was the highest class and overall best hotel i have ever stayed in. The pools were remarkable. Inside the changing rooms near the pool are a massive hot tub which could fit 30, a cold bath which could fit 15, and a suana and steam room. All seperated by sex. (My partner had her own in her changing room.) The restaraunt had a buffett for i think it was 88 yuan which was a deal. Great location. I live in beijing as a foreigner so this was just a get away night to have fun on the weekend. I will definitly be returning.

grand mercure beijing is well located in the central of beijing. close to subway and shopping mall, about 30 mins walk to tian an men square. the hotel itself is clean but very dated. overall, feel like the hotel needs a major renovation. specially, carpet, bathroom and its aircon systems (i.e. if next door someone smokes, the you can smell it in your room from the aircon). the room is big and staff are willing to help. internet costs rmb per day.

Excellent location for the visit of Forbidden City, Tian An Men Square and downtown Beijing, which are all within easy walking distance. Food is of good quality and definitely excellent value when compared to area establishments. Staff is very helpful. When we wanted to extend our stay and room, they claimed to be booked out and unable to match Agoda rate,but suggested I contact Agoda and book over internet: we had the answer in ten minutes, and confirmation from hotel in half an hour. Excellent savings due to staff suggestion.
