The hotel staff are also prompt in responding to my enquiries and have been very friendly throughout my stay. The only downside is that the swimming pool is small and can only accommodate a few people at any one time. Nevertheless, with its prime location and excellent room, I would recommend this hotel to travelers looking for a 5-star hotel in Wangfujing area.

Walking distance to many major tourist attractions. I walked over to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City and along the way passed by a couple of museums including the China Railway Museum. Other attractions nearby that I can remember off the top of my head include the Temple of Heaven and Wangfujing Snack Street. Other attractions nearby that I can remember off the top of my head include the Temple of Heaven and Wangfujing Snack Street. The subway is very nearby as well while Sanlitun which is an area with an upscale shopping mall and bar street is around 7 to 8 km away. The staff at the hotel were excellent, friendly and helpful from the bell boy to restaurant employees. I asked the receptionist for directions to the Forbidden City at first and they provided me with a Novotel issued tourist map complete with Mandarin translations. I would recommend anyone to stay here. Food is available nearby and of course in the hotel while the Beijing Railway Station is also walking distance away. This is the second hotel I stayed in Beijing and definitely recommend.

The location of this hotel is great although some cab drivers can mistaken Sunworld Dynasty for Sunworld Hotel Wangfujing because they are side by side. Love the fact that we are within walking distance of Wangfujing's food snack street and other eateries. In a small shop, the owner wanted to charge me 117 Yuan for a few items that cost 32 Yuan. In Wangfujing there are two lanes with numerous stalls selling Chinese food. A vendor wanted to charge me 120 Yuan for a portion that cost 10 Yuan. Avoid eating in these places because the food is bad and lack hygiene.      Very careful with taxi drivers. At the airport or at the train stations only take taxi in the taxi queue. Many dishonest people comes offer taxi in the queue. Do not accept because they use equipment adulterated and will charge at least 3 times the correct price.

Breakfast in the hotel is very expensive CDN$200 for breakfast for two - breakfast should not cost more than the actual cost of the room! Metro stop just outside, and the hotel is in easy walking distance of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City (with Jing Shan Park just behind), Wangfujing Street, and the excellent Beijing Dadong duck restaurant. The surrounding streets also had some great local, cheap eateries. We’ll definitely stay here again.

we like the location of the hotel alot as it is at the mouth of the beijing shopping street, wangfujing. it's a maximum of 15 mins walk to many tourist attractions like the forbidden city, wangfujing, tian an men and etc. the staff are polite and helpful as well. as we took a midnight flight, we arrived at the hotel much earlier than the check in time of 2pm. howev...we like the location of the hotel alot as it is at the mouth of the beijing shopping street, wangfujing. it's a maximum of 15 mins walk to many tourist attractions like the forbidden city, wangfujing, tian an men and etc. the staff are polite and helpful as well. as we took a midnight flight, we arrived at the hotel much earlier than the check in time of 2pm. however,we were assured that they will do their best in order for us to check in asap. if there's 1 thing that may be of an inconvenience, it will be a lack of air con during winter time. as i was in beijing during the heavy smog period, it wasnt advisable to open up the small window panel to cool the room down, but the vents were just blowing out warm air. luckily the heavy smog was cleared the 2nd day of our trip!

We were given a bigger room in a non-smoking floor (as we requested) although our reservation was for a standard room. It is just the room location has to be accessed through 2nd floor and up some stairs to the other wing of the hotel. The concierge staff who assisted us (Mr. Jack Zhang) was very friendly. As it was our first visit to Beijing, he recommended some places to visit & showed us how to go about. He even informed us the approximate taxi fare if to these places from the hotel. The buffet breakfast consist of western and asian choices which tasted quite nice. We also really appreciate the assistance of another concierge staff upon our check-out (we didn't really catch his full name, just manage to glimpse his name badge has a Zhang). He assisted in hailing a taxi in front of the hotel and help us to inform our destination to the taxi driver. It was a very pleasant stay and made our Beijing trip even more memorable. Thank you.

There are also plenty of 24-hour convenience stores on the same street as the hotel, which is always a good thing. We (my boyfriend and I) stayed in a Courtyard Room for 5 nights. The room was spacious, well-designed, and the open-plan bathroom, while taking some getting used to, was huge and extremely comfortable. I realise that some people might find the beds a bit on the hard side (Asian beds) - we found it comfortable. The staff were polite and helpful; although lack of English might have been a slight barrier, they still tried their utmost to help, even helping us explain to the taxi driver our next hotel (we stayed 2 nights at another Beijing hotel, in Chaoyang area). Overall, I would recommend this hotel (take the Courtyard room!) if you're solo-ing Beijing, i.e. without a tour guide/drive, for about 2-3 nights' stay, as although the hotel is close to Tiananmen Square, Wangfujing, Forbidden City, Mao Zedong's mausoleum, etc., other attractions such as summer palace and temple of heaven are further away. Dragonfly Spa (as you read from reviews below) is indeed on the same street as the hotel, but we didn't go in as the it was too expensive. We ended up going to Bodhi (look it up on Google, one opposite Workers' Stadium, another on Liangmaqiao lu), as they had discounted prices on selected massages if you arrived before 5pm. The luggage boy spend time tell us a lot about the history of this hotel, which make it more meaningful when you stayed in there. The location of the hotel is very near the City centre, in the alley way (hutong), but no big departmental store nearby. However it does give you a feel when you walk thru the hutong to the main street (quite safe in the hutong as there is a police station next to the hotel). 10 mins walk will bring you to a subway station, which will bring you to the downtown shopping area within 3 stations. Free wifi and broadband computer in the room, very handy. I will definitely stay in this hotel again if I go to Beijing as it leaves a very good impression.

The staff at the front desk of hotel are helpful, they helped us to contact taxi to airport which only costed us less than 100RMB. The taxi arrived in less than 5 mins, at 1am in the midnight. The counter is open 24 hours. We are very happy with our stay (7 nights). Hope you guys will find this tips helpful to you.

It's centrally located near Wangfujing, so you can visit touristy areas like Tiananmen, the Summer Garden etc. The area also has quite a lot of shopping around, both luxury types and more local. Most businesses are not that far, so it is great. Not sure about public transport as I don't trust the system there. Subway should be OK if you can read Chinese and know where you want to go. Forget about buses. Staff is very attentive and friendly, what you'd expect from a 5-6* hotel. Service is excellent. I had a good special rate so the stay was well worth it. The other that you must try if you like luxury hotel is the Grand Hyatt, also in Wangfujing.

(qianmen street would be the last station and as for forbidden city only one stop from the hotel). for muslim, exactly less than one minute walk from the hotel on your left would be a muslim restaurant called dong lai shun. behind dong lai shun (2blocks away) just walk straight, there's another small muslim shop from that street you can walk further down like less than 5minutes to wangfujing. you will find another muslim restaurant at wangfujing near mcd as you can see it from far. another muslim restaurant is exactly opposite hotel kapok. a lil further down if kapok on your left

They also provide toiletries, robes, slippers, torch, magnifying glass, in room safe and 4 pillows. Beds were comfortable and not hard. The room had a large LCD TV that doubles as the monitor for the desktop computer and you can use this to surf the internet for free. The mouse was not functioning when we tried to use it but it was quickly replaced by housekeeping when we called to complain. Overall was very satisfied with the hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again.
