Excellent and very convenient”

Location location location, quiet, convenient and relaxing

I was pleasantly surprised by the Jianguo Hotel, located only a few hundred meters from the popular silk market and its many reastaurants near by, this is is a choice hotel for a fuss free visit to the CBD and World Trade Center of Beijing. Staff were excellent, when i arrived i was pleasantly surprised to find out that i had been upgradedinto a superior room because the standard room was not available, all done with a smile. Despite the cold outside ,,the rooms were comfortably heated, pleasant and clean and when i asked for a change of beddings there was no problems. The little rose in the afternoon on the bed wa also a pleasant touch. At any time a taxi ride to most locations is a mere 20 odd RMB to the many sights around the city. In all a pleasant stay and i will make it a point to return book on my next visit to Beijing,

A home from home !”

I have stayed in many hotels in Beijing and have grown to love staying with Jianguo more and more to the point that it has become my home from home. It is well located, it is clean, calm and comfortable, it has all the usuals that is expected of a hotel but, above all it is unpretentious!. My last stay was particularly pleasant; I was lucky to get a room with a little garden. Room was as clean as it had always and the staff were most courteous and helpful. The front desk manager, Mr. Yan Zheng (颜争) deserves a special praise: as soon as I informed him that my terminally-ill mother and I would like to extend our stay for a few more days in the hotel, he went out of his way to make sure we can continue to stay in the same room where we were without having to change so that my mother experienced minimum disruption. Other front desk staff were also helpful, unfortunately I couldn't remember all their names. I don't normally write reviews but this one is overdue !

Good location with fine service”

Positives are the fine service (which means good recruitment, traiining, and effective management), attention to detail and overall cleanliness.

It was a pleasant stay with a very accommodating staff in a hotel which is kept in very good condition. The location is quite good, and affords rather easy excursions throughout Beijing by taxi, the various subway and light rail systems, as well as by walking. This is one of my favorite parts of Beijing, and it is fortunate that the Jianguo Hotel is available and thriving in this area. The usual small quibbles (some cigar smoke drifting in through a closed door near the ground floor buffet area), but that is to be expected as it takes time for new policies to be accepted fully.

The Janguo hotel”

Happy hour means free drinks and snacks included in the business room rate.
The shower in my otherwise very nice suite was so powerful that the drain could not cope with a wet bathroom floor as a result.

The Jianguo hotel offers excellent value for money with most services such as use of business centre, Internet, etc. included in the business room rate. A special feature is happy hour with free drinks and snacks served in a small lobby on the second floor where business travellers are also expected to check in. This avoids the crowds at the central reception which I find really nice when checking out. Justine's, the main restaurant is excellent, but pricey whereas the café offers a decent buffet for less than 200 Yuan. The breakfast buffet may not offer as much choice as e.g. the nearby Trader's hotel, but the quality of the food is on a par. Charlie's bar however I found gloomy in spite of the friendly service. It is not a large place with very low lighting and the aircon at full blast. The lobby on the other hand is very nice, airy and well lit with a glass roof. At luch time and in the evenings there is live Western or Chinese classical music at a level that makes conversation possible. Week-ends there are full lunch concerts. The Juanguo prides itself as a green hotel with an water garden stretching the length of the hotel. However that is enjoyed mostly by rooms facing it and not much of it is visible or noticeable in the rest of the hotel. I like the Juanguo as an unassuming good value for money hotel that meets all the needs of the business traveler.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location”

Jianguo is a very clean hotel (by Chinese standards) in a prime location on Changan adjacent to a central subway station. It is close to Silk Street in one direction and the premium stores of China World. China World is better, but considerably more expensive. Jianguo provides working air conditioners, televisions with HBO, Cinemax, CNN, CNTV and a South East Asia news channel though BBC stopped during a storm while we were there. They actually vacuum the halls each day which is rare in China, and the cost, at least through Agoda is very competitive with other BAD! hotels in the area. There is a convenience store next to the hotel, though half a block further, there is much more variety with better prices. We ate at the lunch buffet which was very good with unlimited soda and other drinks in a quiet upscale atmosphere. The Cantonese restaurant was okay, but again offered a quiet upscale atmosphere. This will be our go to hotel for this area in the future.

Excellent hotel with great location.”

It's 4**** are well deserved.

Although this hotel is very well know in Bejing as being the first joint venture in the hotel business in China, I have only discovered it during this trip. In the past I have stayed in many fine hotels in Beijing, but Jianguo was a truly pleasant surprise. The rooms are modern and spacious, service is friendly and efficient, the gardens in the middle of buzzling Beijing gives a relaxing feeling. Location is very convenient, at only a few meters away of the metro station and Silk Market. From here you can easily reach the business districts and most tourist spots.

Great Hotel Next to Silk Street”

Location, Staff, and Cleanlines

We stayed at the Jianguo for a short tourist stop-over in Beijing. We loved it! The hotel is beautiful and nicely decorated. The lobby has a tea service and piano player. The lobby even smells amazing! The rooms are clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. The WIFI is free. The breakfast has both Western and Chinese options and it served buffet style in the cafe. The staff is very attentive with good English speakers. The concierge was very nice to secure taxis for us when it was time for us to go to the airport. The best part of this hotel is its location. It is a few feet from the subway stop and maybe 100 yards from silk street. It was nice that silk street didn't feel like a big overwhelming outing. We were able to look around knowing that if we wanted to walk away from something we could hop right back over to get it before we left. Starbucks and McDonalds are also very close to the hotel.

Charming Jianguo hotel”

Good location, charming and relaxing atmosphere, especially with the indoor garden between wings.
Can be a bit or a labyrinth if prefenrence is easy access to rooms.

Jianguo is a lovely hotel especially for people who want an oasis in the cement and glass jungle of Beijing. There is a nice indoor garden in between the new and old wing which gives the hotel its charm and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are well appointed and bathrooms are new and devoid of the pungent smell you encounter in a number of hotels in china. Breakfast selection is sufficient. Staff are corteus. However if you want easy access then ask for the new wing. Easy access to mass transportation as it is near the subway station.

Convenient location , nice 4 star hotel ”

nice swimming pool , gym , spa center

right before 2012 spring festival i had my 32nd trip to beijing so i may say i'm kind of a connoisseur of china's capital hotels . even if the exterior of the hotel it is not so spectacular ( actually is a little worn out because jianguo hotel opened in 1982 ) versus other hotels and the rooms are not so big for the money they ask , i always enjoy my stay at this hotel because of the friendly staff , of the nice swimming pool , gym and spa center , of the view that i get when i sip my coffee at breakfest at the inner garden and mostly because of the convenient location ( you have everything at walking distance : shops , eateries including mc donald and starbucks , restaurants , mall , pearl market , subway station ) . money well spent .

Great place to stay in Beijing”

Friendly and attentive staff, clean rooms, great breakfast for folks staying in the executive suites. Very convenient location with a Metro stop just outside.
Could use better facilities for guests to access internet. More channels available on the cable TV.

My son and I stayed here for a week as a base from which to explore Beijing and visit the Great Wall. We had arranged for an executive suite for a very reasonable price, including breakfast. The suite included a living room and bathroom on the first floor and the bedroom plus another full bathroom on the second. Both floors had balconies and TVs. To deal with the sometimes bad Beijing air, the room included a quiet air purifier that kept the suite smelling fresh. We visited the hotel bar for our afternoon drink and cigar and found it very comfortable with good, quick service. By the way, there are a good many good restaurants in the neighborhood. We found some by simply walking around and seeing which ones had locals eating there and took the Metro to others. The Forbidden City and Tienanmen Square are a pleasant 30 minute walk from the hotel.

My essessment of Jianguo Hotel”

No problems with communication in english. Very good breakfasts Nice swimming pool Cleannest and Silent
Internet access is not free of charge

Generally stay in the Jianguo was a pleasure especially that my company pay for it. The price was a bit too high. After a few days of stay in Jianguo I changed hotel finding one with slightly lower standar but for distinctly lower price. In that price at least internet access would be free of charge. The room was comfortable with everything you can need in the hotel. TV with many programms in english. Room was rather silent with the onle little noise from air conditioning. Nice and perfectly clean bathroom. Very nice swimming pool 7mx15m in the price of hotel. Location of the hotel is convenient about 100 m of subway acces line 1. Close to hotel is shopping center. I do not advice to buing souvenirs in the hotel shop. Dont listen about special ocassion. You buy the same things with much lower prices.

good value for money in the central business distr”

central business district location, well communicated to city center, via taxi and metro

The Jianguo hotel was the first joint venture hotel opened in China in 1982. The building is a copy of a US motel, thus architectonically speaking nothing too exciting. However, room size is good, location is excellent, and the staff are very helpful and experienced. All in all, a very good value for money considering that the hotel is a good choice for a business stay combined with some tourist excursion to the city center, only a short taxi ride or metro ride away.

Perfect location, nice garden ”

Big room, good standard, central location

I travel to Beijing quite often and regularly return back to Jianguo hotel. Its central location is good mainly for diplomats and business travelers. Close to metro and many taxis around. If you like shopping there is a famous Silk Market just nearby. You can find there also a few restaurants and Starbucks. Not far away from Tiananmen and Forbidden City (however taxi or subway necessary).

Safe and trusted yet reasonably priced”

Location, comfort and reasonable price

It was the first time after few stays 17 years ago, it's very well maintained. I used to stay at the Grand Millennium, Sheraton Great Wall, St. Regis and Kerry Hotel in Beijing all these years as business traveller. Now as a tourist, needed to find something more affordable. Jianguo Hotel fits the bill as it has the reputation for one to feel comfortable at such rate which you could find at various local Chinese hotels one's never heard of and would likely encounter negative experiences. Jianguo Hotel, at least, has been there for so long and it keeps going despite its age. I will certainly consider to go back next time.

Locally-rated Hotel in a Convenient Location”

Accessibility to Subway

i have stayed in jianguo hotel on several occasions, and each time, when i re-visit beijing, i never regret staying here due to the hotel's central location. the subway station (yonganli station on line 1) is just right beside the hotel, and with the increasingly horrendous traffic situation, taking the subway is the best mode of transportation now. although the hotel looks a bit jaded, the service is still acceptable - checking in is prompt and the room is clean. internet is complimentary and if you stay on the executive floor (4th level), there's even a lounge for business meetings. overall, nothing to complain about. the rates are not comparable to international 5-star hotels, so one's expectations should also be a tad lower.

My hotels”

Location, service, ambience
The Chinese restaurant is pretentious and outrageouly expensive

The Jianguo is a classic hotel in Beijing. The rooms are large and comfortable, the service excellent, the choice of food is satisfactory, and the location is quite convenient. This was my second stay within a year. I was quite satisfied both times. My only complaint is the Chinese restaurant with its expensive but mediocre food. Visitors can find many local restaurants around the corner, so that is not a major problem.

Great location ”

Location and breakfast

room is clean. hotel is within 2 mins walk to subway station. silk market is 5 mins walk away but not the best place to shop. staff not the friendliest i've seen during my trip to beijing but it was fine. i stayed in hotel kapok for the first part of my trip. in comparison, i prefer hotel kapok as the staff are nicer, rooms are modern and new. however, in terms of location, jianguo hotel scored better.

Historic hotel in great shape ”

Jianguo Hotel is an historic hotel, the first foreign owned hotel in Beijing. The owners and staff do a great job to keep the facilities modern and comfortable. Location is excellent. And the staff are very attentive and provide excellent service.
