The best hotel you've never heard of”
Baisha Holiday Resort is nestled in the quiet town of Baisha outside of LiJiang. My Dad and I stayed here the second week of May and it was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. The facilities are gorgeous and will remind you of traditional China. The views of the mountains from various balconies will take your breath away. More than all that, though, the staff are why you'll come back (and that's an enormous compliment given the facilities and views were stunning). Chris and Helen are the two staff members who will take care of you. Want to visit the mountains? Ask Chris and he'll have everything arranged by morning. Want to get picked up from LiJiang airport? Call ahead and Helen will have a car waiting for you. My Dad and I mentioned to Chris we wanted to do a two day hike of Tiger Leaping Gorge. He arranged our bus to the trail as well as got us a map. It was refreshing experiencing this level of service. If you want a quiet hideaway with the best staff in the world then stay at Baisha Holiday Resort. You won't regret it.

nice rooms, quiet location”
Baisha Holiday Resort is a small, new, quality guesthouse located about 12km from Lijiang Old Town and 4km from Shuhe Old Town. If you want a quiet, hi-quality place to stay, this is a good choice. It is a good base to use for exploring Jade Dragon Snow Mtn and the surrounding countryside. It is fairly easy to take bus #6 for only 2 RMB to get to and from Shuhe or Lijiang Old Towns if you want to enjoy those places for the day but a quiet place for the night. There is very little (so far, but you can see it is heading toward being developed) in Baisha, but that is part of its charm.

AMAZING STAFF! Great to just get away”
Charlie, the owner of the hotel, was very welcoming. It made my stay here that much more enjoyable. I booked the room here as a getaway from everything. I was a solo traveler backpacking through China for about a month and this place was a way for me to relax and catch up on emails and gather myself. The rooms are comfortable with private bathrooms and showers. Wifi in each room as well. Charlie was very hospitable and welcoming. He went above and beyond to make sure my stay at his hotel was a great experience. He mentioned that his hometown makes a certain type of liquor (maybe rice wine) and I asked him how much for each shot, to which he replied ..."you take shots with me, its free!" AWESOME! Great guy, I also booked a room inside the old town, and when I left the Baisha Hotel, Charlie was nice enough to give me a ride into old town and made sure I found the hotel i was going to stay at. IN old town it is hard to find the hotel since there are many scattered throughout alley ways. The food at Baisha is all serve family style. No menu. But I loved it. It brings the people together and those who spoke English all sat a one table to share stories. Very homey vibe. I highly recommend this place if your looking for a stay outside lijiang old town. Charlie if your reading this...I wish you well brother!

A perfect place to relax and take it slow”
We stayed at the resort for 3 nights in mid-April and we absolutely loved it. On our first two nights, there were only another couple there apart from us, so the whole place was so quiet and peaceful. The courtyard, the room and views from the balcony were all stunningly beautiful. We ended up spending too much time at the resort. Bruce, the owner, was very friendly, helpful and speaks excellent English. He helped arrange a dinner for us after our arrival when most restaurants were already closed. We had a good chat with him on the night before we left. An elderly Chinese man who looked after the resort during the day spoke no English, but was very kind and very happy to help. We managed to communicate with him quite effectively through pictures and sign language. Both Bruce and the kind uncle were so genuine that it made us feel like staying at a family friend's place instead of a resort. Because of the low season, there were no breakfast or dinner served at the hotel. However, there are plenty of options in Baisha within 2 minutes walk from the resort. Please note that in deluxe room, there is no door to the bathroom, but the bathroom was spacious, so it didn't really bother us. We found no faults with water pressure or hot water. The resort provides both indoor and outdoor clothes lines to hang the laundry. We hand-washed our clothes, but there was a washing machine that you can use too. The resort also offers bike rental at a competitive price. Make sure you rent appropriate bikes for the chosen route though. We ended up pushing our city bikes with no gears up the hill to Yuhu village. The internet worked perfectly. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return if we have a chance.

Charming hotel in atmospheric Baisha”
Lijiang is overall a tourist trap, so if you want to stay somewhere that is not, you need to stay in Baisha, This hotel seems to be the nicest in Baisha although there is constant construction so that may change. I thought the comfort of the rooms was about standard for Chinese hotels unless you stay at larger chains, and the service of the staff was very friendly and kind. The design of the courtyard is charming.

hi Marie, thanks for your remarks. the Hotel has been updated in April, 2018.welcome to the still beautiful and amazing village--Baisha again! LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT STAY WITH US.
Beautiful courtyard and nice hosts.”
We had a nice stay here over the Christmas Holiday. The owner had all the guests learn how to make dumplings and provided us with lots of food to celebrate Christmas Eve. It was a fantastic evening with everyone, ending with traditional Chinese dancing around an open fire in the courtyard. The hotel is within an area that was being constructed in the design of an old Chinese town. The hotel was about a 20 minute drive from Lijiang, overlooking Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. A lovely place that we'd return to!

good location for visiting Baisha old village”
The location of the hotel is good for visiting Baisha old villlage but it is quite far from Lijiang town centre. The breakfast was good and Ms ong was friendly. The room was nice and clean but there was a bad smell sometime from outside drainage system. The TV was quite new and was provided with a lot of programmes to watch.

I was very satisfied to be able to enjoy the hotel”
I loved Baisha, calm and peaceful despite a fifteen minute traffic jam of three cars and two three wheeled trucks clogged at the gate because no one would back up

A unique experience in a Naxi style hotel”
Overall a positive experience. The staff members, including one of the owners are very helpful and friendly, and they do speak a decent level of English. The rooms are comfortable and large enough. However as we got two older rooms in the upper floor, some teething problems with the bathroom and insulation against gusty mountain winds were felt at night during our stay there, late February. There is no laundry service provided nor room service for meals. You are invited to feel free to use the washing machine (no dryer, sorry)and help yourself to the common kitchen. Within walking distance is the Baisha Naxi Village which is interesting. You can do a bit of shopping, browse at a few curio shops, sip latte, have a pizza or steak with wine, or eat local. The hotel operation is less than a year old. With more improvements to the room fixtures and facilities and staff training, I am sure things will definitely get better.

Looks nice, but not well maintained.”
Property has a lot of potential, but is not well maintained. Everything is just a bit dirty and outdated. I certainly wouldn't use "resort" to describe the place. Basic guesthouse is more like it. Staff is helpful and nice though. Our bathroom had issues and they changed the room for us immediately. Also arranged a car for us at 6:30am the next morning. The village driver had something that came up last minute, so they sent a friend with BMW instead!

I really like this hotel was in the design of a t”
My stay here was excellent. The only reason I lowered the rating is because the construction was like the Chinese style. There were many spaces between the wood walls allowing air in. It is the first place I've been that had electrically heated mattress. Wonderfully large bath room.

Disappointing”
Charly was very welcoming and nice, however, rooms was not ready and clean when we arrived, we booked a room with a view but did not get the right one.. Then we had to get some towels by ourselves as they forgot to give some clean ones, and nobody was in the hostel to help us find what we needed. last but not least, we did not get any support from the staff to book a taxi.. quite disappointing and not very professional!

Great place to relax away from the City”
Great place to stay after doing two cities in China, as it was such a contrast to be out in the country, but easily able to go to the city if you chose. Just watch your head if you are tall, as i banged mine on the low verander roof several times :)

An interesting cultural experience”
It is built with the local tribal (Naxi) architecture with a large courtyard in the centre of the property. On the higher floor, and if you got the right facing, you can enjoy the mountain view which is spectacular. However, as we were there during winter, it can be abit cold due to the less than ideal insulation. Laundry can be a challenge. Staff are not fully trained but make up for it with their ernestness and good attitude.

We didn't get a chance to stay here as when we arrived the hotel was apparently fully booked and they had no record of our booking. They also don't speak any English.
