Where to stay in Leeward
Leeward hotels & accommodations

You get what you pay for - and in the case of the Royal Huahine, you get a lot more than what you pay for. Yes - straight up: the reviews about the state of the bathrooms, the mattresses and the general fit-out of the bungalows are true. Our bathroom was falling apart (in parts), the mattress was well-used and old and the bungalows attracted a lot of (seasonal) humidit...

Brilliant level of service from the time my husband and I arrived. We were greeted by Melissa who showed us the resort and our villa. Highly recommend going for over the water villa. Breathtaking view and private. Waking up to that view of the crystal blue water is priceless and so relaxing. The team welcomed us with a bottle of champagne and truffle chocolates which a...

We highly recommend this hotel especially if you want a bungalow experience without spending so much more money on the other fancy resorts. That staff was wonderful, pleasant and helpful. The property was clean. The rooms were nice and comfortable. The property is walking distance to the public beach which is beautiful with amazing sunsets. Also too you can walk to gro...

The Opoa Beach Hotel where we’ve stayed the final 3 days of a 3-week trip to New Zealand and French Polynesia, is 9 cute cottages all decorated with local artisan craftwork, surrounding a small pool right by the waters edge on the east (sunrise) side of Raiatea looking towards Huahine. Free boat shuttle out the motu (little island w/beach on the reef surrounding the l...

This is the hotel you must see! We travelled first to Tahiti then to Moorea but still missed our dream shores, white sand beaches and the blue lagoons. Finally we arrived to this amazing resort and all dreams came true. We stayed in an over water bungallow which is hard to describe how beautiful is. Glass floor, perfect bed, perfect everything. This is the place that m...

Great stay at the Thalasso. Expensive but worth it. We stayed in a Diamond OTW bungalow. Buffet breakfast was wonderful and included in the Agoda booking. Although we heard that if you arrive without a meal plan, the resort offers 50% off daily buffet breakfast (about $25 pp after the discount). Travelers may want to compare the IHG rate to Agoda rate with this discoun...

this is a fine hotel for what you pay for it, 2nd best on Huahine. Can not beat location, great patios, great staff, really almost perfect. But if you have flown hours to French Polynesia, to experience exclusion, snorkeling , you want to feel like you are away from it all.. this is not hotel for you. This hotel feels like it could be anywhere. Okay, I am from Flor...

I had a fantastic stay at Sofitel Bora Bora. Everything was just as I wanted it and I was given a beach side bungalow which was excellent, huge space and really comfortable for the 3 nights I was there. Staff were lovely and booked me on the tours I wanted to go on. Location was beautiful, with all the amenities being adjacent to the water, there is a lovely stretch of...

A slice of paradise, hidden gem in Bora Bora. Lush grounds, simple but very comfortable bungalows. Great vegetarian cuisine! If you look for the big hotel chains, probably not for you. But if you like authentic flair, traveling off the beaten paths, family-owned places then go for it! It is an amazing place where time stops and you enjoy each day as it comes and with w...

We loved our stay. Alice and Raphael are so warm and gracious. They are as helpful as you want them to be, or they will leave you in complete peace if you like. They have invested everything they have in their pension and their home. They have chosen this very pure way of life for their family. The bungalows are very charming, tastefully decorated, and comfortable...

Very good value for money especially for ourselves who wanted to self cater rather than stay in expensive hotel. Location is great, with it's own sandy beach and just around corner from main sandy beach also. Very good snorkelling at close by island which you can easily get there by Kayak. Supermarket just over the road. Jack and Francesca more than helpful- thank -yo...

I had such a wonderful time at Le Perle! I was traveling alone for the first two nights there and Roberto made sure I felt welcome. Rooms were very well decorated and new. Felt like you were in paradise (which you are in Taha'a). I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. Solo travelers, families, groups. I think anyone would enjoy it! There was lots to do ...

Overall, the "Pension Les 3 Cascades" was a good choice for my stay in Raiatea. Patrice, the owner / manager, was extremely helpful in terms of arranging activities, making phone calls to his local contacts. Without him, I would never had been able to organise the bicycle tour or the day-trip on Motu. I highly appreciated him walking the extra mile. The property itsel...

We choose the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort wanting an affordable overwater bungalow for our honeymoon. To start we thought the resort was quite expensive, however following a trip into Vaitape it became apparent that the resort was well priced in terms of food and activities. We experienced no language barrier with reception or the concierge, however in...

Arsenne and Marie-Claude run a beautiful small hotel in the Opoa area. The hotel is a collection of individual bungalows - with most right on the beach, just a few steps to the Raiatea lagoon. The beach bungalows each have great views of Huahine, the Raiatea lagoon and reef, and a motu on the reef. Located on the windward side of the island, a strong, refreshing and...

The decision to stay with Nir (owner) at his hotel was the best decision we made for our trip and will stay with him again when we go back. Nir has been in #borabora for over 30 years, and took over Rohotu 15 years ago. He can speak French, English, Tahitian, Italian, and German. He knew everyone and everything at Bora Bora. He booked every excursion and restaurant res...

Very clean and comfortable with modern furniture and facilities. You get free airport transfer which is great. The owner is very friendly and flexible with your schedule. The location is ok, you can kayak around, you can cycle to the main town or to the start of the hike. Overall, very good value for money.

Flora couldn't be more wonderful host. She picked us up, drove us to a scooter shop and sent us to the airport. Hotel was located next to the beach with 3 lovely decorated rooms. However, water shortage could happen from time to time on motu. We really had a good time.

We use hotels mainly as a base of operations on our trips. SHL was good for us due to its location in Vaitape - near the main island port, grocery store, Mt. Pahia trailhead, shops, vehicle rental, etc., all within walking distance. SHL has units at the edge of the lagoon and a few units 0.1 mile or so from the water. Ours was away from the water. It had a queen bed ...

We really loved staying at Faretai Love. Annette and Marc go the extra mile for their guest. Picking us up at the airport, taking us to the grocery store, giving us discounted rates on day trips and car rental and complimentary bikes to use during our stay. The apartment was a short ten minute bike ride to a beautiful sandy beach. We loved the artwork in the apartment ...

Amazeballs. 2 things - I wish we had access to a little grocery store or something. Had to rely on resort for every bottle of water, every coke every sandwich and every (very expensive) drink. Also I think some fabric softener on the sheets would have been nice on our sunburnt bodies. But wow. Amazing. Paradise.

Our favourite hotel in Bora Bora!!! Very clean, very green territory. Amazing SPA. Two Steam Rooms (complimentary) one with beautiful view on Lagoon, the other with the view to the ocean. Service is very high level. Big and clean bungalows with direct access to the water. Breakfast is very rich. Main beach is beautiful. Simply the best...

We went to the St Regis as part of our honeymoon, and without doubt this is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. Everything was amazing, from the welcome tour to the nights spent sipping champagne in the overwater bungalow. The Food was great, but it was Carmen’s butler service that really made our stay super enjoyable, she was brilliant. It is very expensive, but i...

We were welcomed at the airport and the transfer to the pension took less than 10 minute. You can ask to be dropped off in town to do some shopping but we walked to Fare (15min). There is a beach in front of the hotel where the sunset is amazing, swimming and snorkelling is not possible though. Best thing to do to explore the island is to hire a car or even better a sc...

Hotel is at great private island and beach, clean and spacious room. Hotel has free shuttle between hotel and main island, and paid van service to vaitape town and matira beach, the airport shuttle is overpriced, if you are on budget you can save by using hotel shuttle to main island instead of using hotel Airport transfer. There’s a lot of free activities at hot...

Since this was our first and probably only trip to French Polynesia, I booked the Pension Ta Maeva see as much of the island before getting on a catamaran cruise the next day. The bungalow was on the side of a hill just up from the owner's quarters. It was sparse with no AC but had a large floor fan. We slept comfortably. We had a resident gecko, but that didn't bother...
Cheap places to stay in Leeward

The lagoon at 5mins walk is a beauty for sure. Maybe one of the best on Huahine. Good for a few days stay (2/3nights). However staying here makes you isolated on Huahine. Tours and food on site are expensive with very limited options around. Clean and large rooms though.

When Tinua picked us up from the airport, I sensed that he was kind, friendly and informative. On the way to the pension, we passed through a short street where we could get everything we would need. This was the center, took 2 minute to drive through. The pension is about 10 minute walk to the center. When we went to ask Tinua about the island, he laid out a map an...

The Bora Bora Eco Lodge is a fantastic place to stay if you are looking for good accommodation at a reasonable cost. The rooms are very clean and have kitchen facilities if you wish to self-cater. Breakfast is also available for a small cost. The Eco Lodge is a great place to relax and unwind with water views and a large garden. Caroline the owner made us feel very ...

We had a great offer and enjoyed it staying in the hotel. It has been renovated and they started first of October. It’s not everything perfect but they try the best making sure you feel comfortable. We would recommend it. PS.: They offer an airport shuttle and they are renting bikes.

The accommodation is very well maintained and the view of each bungalow is directly to the lagoon. They are directly at the beach and very clean. The best accommodation so far in French Polynesia. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone. A car or scooter to get along is recommended. The owner is very friendly and the food in the restaurant is excellent. Onl...
