Negros Oriental hotels & places to stay

The staff was super accommodating. They made us feel like royalty. You can ask them anything. The food was good but expensive. Chef was a bit hot tempered and not too flexible with food changes. Beach was beautiful. The further you swim, the more corals and sea creatures to discover. Atmosphere hotel is about 10 minutes from the port where you take the boat to Apo Island. It's very convenient. Try to go on a Wednesday where people come from all over the province to sell their products forming a market. Lechon is a must. Their fish was super fresh, it's unbelievable. I would definitely come back to this hotel if i get the chance. I wasn't able to explore much of their beach because our 3D2N was packed with Manjuyod and Apo tour. Hope I can visit this place again soon. ❤

It was really best place in Philippines, first I was thinking its pricey, but after i'd stay in other hotels/resorts i realised, that for that quality of everything price is reasonable. All things, from small things like decoration to quality of pool, is the best. They using ultraviolet lights in restaurant to keep area clean! Very attentive staff, they gave toys for my kid and never get mad, when he was play around. Well trained staff in restaurant, with fresh juices for the breakfast, with is untypical for that country. Room is really spacious with many lovely decoration details and furniture. They gave you also hangers construction for drying clothes, so I had chance to wash my belongies properly. They serve breakfasts etc in the room, by your request. The pool have shadow during the day, so you can enjoy with no worries about sunburn. They have diving center run by europeans, too. Prices for transfers and excursions is reasonable for this island. Only 2 little remarks- I wish it could be possible to clean the floors in the rooms with water, and, to extend the kids menu in the restaurant. It was very nice to meet european quality of all materials, services in poor asian country, in such beautiful place. thank you for the good times there. Next time, if i will visit Negros, will choose this hotel again, for sure, and highly recommend to anyone.

We we're impressed with how clean (good smelling!) and modern the hotel and the rooms were. Nice lobby! One of the best beds and bed sheets I've experienced in a budget hotel. Our room smelled so clean and nice! The furnishings modern. Hallways were wide and let lots of light in. We stayed in a de luxe twin room. There was no fridge but out in the hallway near the elevator there was a water dispenser for guests providing clean cold water for free. Location is excellent for those taking the Ceres bus. A tricycle away from the main boulevard (maybe 10 minutes with traffic). So convenient because there is a 7/11, drugstore and Salon on the ground floor in the same building where hotel is. Behind the hotel is the Robinson's shopping mall. Our booked stay didn't include breakfast but you can order from them or walk down the road to a McDonald's. Internet connection in the room was available for free. Can be a bit spotty at times...as with anywhere in the Philippines. They only provide soap and shampoo. You can buy your toothbrush at the 7/11 downstairs.

I didn't expect the amenities in this 3-star hotel. Breakfast was included in the room rate and it was buffet. On weekend nights there is live music in the restaurant. There is a spa, travel agency, gift store where you can buy pasalubong. Cable TV is available in the room and the TV is a newer model than in other hotels. WIF is free and also available in the room. There is a safe and a small fridge and a water station on every floor. The reception area is staffed 24 hours and there is a big sitting area in the lobby where guests can read the newspapers. The location is great. It is right on Real Street, walking distance or a short tricycle ride (if it's very hot) to the banks, restaurants, churches, public market. The pier and the airport are 15-20 minutes ride. The rooms and common areas are clean. The hotel is new so it still smells fresh. Staff are helpful The reception desk provided information from a binder that they keep at the desk. They were not able to give us an accurate ferry schedule for Ocean Jet but even Google failed to. You just have to catch whichever ferry is leaving when you arrive at the pier even though it is slow and old. If it maintains its freshness and newness and with a few improvements, it can apply for 4 stars. The bathroom rug should be changed to something more absorbent and soft. The gift store has to carry more products or maybe the restaurant can take over the store since it sells boxes of sans rival and silvana anyway. The restaurant should also rotate the buffet items every other day and include on its menu Negros delicacies like the bud bud, chocolate made from tablea, some healthy options like fruits and vegetables or salads. Meanwhile I'll give it a rating higher than 8.

We booked late for a winter diving trip over New Year. Apart from the shambles that is Philippine Air domestic flights, we had a wonderful trip. Negros is a very normal island with no obvious tourist traps. Damaguete is a large town with doctors and plenty if shops and a large market. Dauin is 2.7km down the beach - small market town. Resort is small and friendly, no stuffy formality. You can really relax there. Wifi works fine in all areas. No TV in rooms is a rare blessing. Food is a choice of a few different starters, mains and desserts varying each day, reasonable prices and excellent quality with lots of local fresh fruit available. Drink prices not excessively inflated. Diving is superb! Well maintained gear and they treat your own gear respectfully too if you have it. Air or nitrox available. Huge range of dive sites within 20 minutes boat ride plus day trips available to Apo and Oslob leaving right from the beach. Fabulous underwater photography opportunities for wide-angle and macro. Boat crew and local divemaster are knowledgable and careful with the coral and the divers. Our room was beachfront - cane furniture on patio, hammock under verandah shade plus loungers and parasol on lawn. Could literally stumble out of bed, into wetsuit and onto the boat! Great sunrise and no noisy neighbours. Would definitely go back.

We absolutely LOVED our stay in Florentina Homes. The entire hotel looks gorgeous, you could tell that everything was well thought out and executed impeccably. Their in-house restaurant serves very affordable and delicious meals, which you could have delivered straight to your room. Our only concern was that the airconditioning was a bit warm, but other than that, everything was great. If ever we find ourselves in Dumaguete again, we wont hesitate to book a room here. : )

That was our third hotel in the Philippines. It is a nice and clean compact resort. Excellent for divers.For other guests the choice of activities is limited.It has a nice spa centre with a good selection of massages and they can also organize a few excursions. The pool and beach (brown sand) are small. The staff is very nice, competent and efficient. The hotel is however overpriced - even if the rates were advertised as being 50% discounted :-). For the same budget we got huge villas in a lovely resort with a white sand beach 10 (times larger) and 3 swimming pools on a nearebay Seguijor. Beverage and transfer prices in Pura Vida are also higher by ca 50% than in other places we visited. In summary to be recommended for divers or for a short stay if you want to visit Negros Oriental. Provided you get a REALLY good deal.

What a brilliant little sanctuary. Loved our stay and ideal for a young family as the apartment is right next to the pool so the smallest could have a daytime sleep while we all kept swimming whilst supervising the youngest! The set up is superb with well finished apartments and very comfortable beds - 5 star hotels are aligned. Wonderful staff with excellent attitudes especially Ollie and the girls on the desk. Opportunities for improvement are the western food that was not great and not having the ability to call a babysitter. Otherwise fantastic and we can cook for ourselves as its got a great kitchen.

Spent 2 fabulous weeks diving with friends and I can't speak more highly of the staff & dive crew! They pulled out all the stops to ensure our dive stay was a real pleasure. The only negative was the tepid to cold showers which after a day diving in 77-78F water temps in February was hard. Some rooms have no problem but others need serious attention. Fix this and you are 1st class! I can highly recommend the hot stone massage after all that diving. What a selection of treatments for a very very reasonable price, some of the group was there daily! Just loved our dive crew led by Alfred. Not only is the entire Crew extremely competent but mostly they are simply FUN! to be with, all the time. We will miss you all!! Thanks especially for our amazing going away party, including drum band, Marley Rasta reggae guitar and flame dancer. The biggest and best surprise of the trip was Chef Jun, a young star for Atlantis and no doubt in my mind a future star in world gastronomy! Seriously, you don't know how good you are Jun! I highly recommend the full board, you will not be disappointed! From variety of sea critters - house reef is outstanding - to fine dining. It was a WOW dive trip!

We had an excellent stay at Thalatta Resort and wish we could have stayed longer. We arranged for transportation from the Dumaguete/Sibulan airport (950 PHP) to the resort which took about 40 minutes. Your alternative is to find a bus or jeepney/trike so we thought it was worth it. The gardens are kept very well and it is a bery beautiful resort with a big deep saltwater pool in the middle of the resort. The food was delicious. The resort is a ten minute walk from Malatapay pier where you can take a boat to Apo Island. The staff was very friendly and attentive and helped us with all our questions and transportation needs. I would highly recommened anyone wanting to explore Negros Oriental/Apo Island to stay here during their visit.

1. Hotel was accessible enough from the airport and the Rizal Ave. Choose to stay in this hotel if you opt to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city proper, but still not too far from it. 2. Great and friendly staff. 3. Cool interiors. That RED door is very hard to miss. 4. Best if the common bathrooms (located in the second floor) be thoroughly and incessantly checked. We booked a room with out an ensuite bathroom and shared the same with another room on the same floor. It's fine really and we didn't mind sharing, but best if the staff double checks and clean the bathroom twice as often since it is being shared. :)

We booked the Salaya as a last minute escape and the one night we stayed here was the highlight of our trip. Everything from the exceptional service, unbelievable view, beautiful grounds, delicious food and luxury accommodations. Just WOW!! Anyone staying near, around Dumaguete should treat themselves to at least one night in this secret paradise. It will not disappoint.

Can't beat the location, staff is super! I lost my phone in a van during transportation and the front desk did a great job of finding it for me and getting it returned, Thanks again for the help! its a bit pricey but the best location in Dumaguete. you can walk from the port to the hotel, the nightly street food market is right across the street. Many bars and restaurants all around. Hotel can get you a rental scooter for 450 pesos delivered to the hotel and you can ride around and explore beautiful Negros Oriental. I would stay here again and enjoyed my stay here very much.

I stayed here 3 days on the top floor which is the biggest best rooms, definitely worth it. Very clean hotel, great staff, guards are friendly, flat screen tv, AC worked great, wifi worked great. The location near to the Boulevard is prime. I have only positives about this hotel and I dont often have that conclusion! There is no food or dining experience, but I put 3 stars so I could post this review.

WellBeach Dive Resort is a nice place to stay for a few days or more when diving in the area and is close to Apo Island which is a really good dive destination in Negros Oriental. The rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms with hot shower. The owners (Swiss and Filipino) are very friendly and run a well maintained operation, the hotel and surroundings are always very clean and comfortable, the staff, when not dealing with guests are constantly prepping/cleaning/maintaining the resort. Motorcycles can be rented for the day if you choose not to dive or are taking the day off, the Market nearby on Wednesday mornings is a must see, locals sell everything from small trinkets to pigs! great opportunity to see local life and grab some cool photos. The food menu is quite extensive and everything is very tasty, the cooks must have received training from the owners as normal Filipino food is unfortunately fairly bland, not the case here. The swimming pool is cleaned daily and a welcome sight after a days diving, relaxation is key to this resort. The beach is not the picture postcard white sand, it is black sand with many rocks/pebbles, nice for a stroll or a dip in the ocean. The dive shop is small, on arrival I even wondered if they had one as there is not the usual PADI banners etc displayed everywhere. The manager of the diveshop was helpful, the dive guide is local (key to finding stuff underwater) My dive experience could have been much better, I was diving with four people from Germany and as the dive manager spoke German there was very little fun between dives. I had wished I could speak German too, bad timing I guess but I was basically tagging along with whatever the four other divers wanted to do. In the end I was disappointed with the dive operation as I did not get to do anymore than two dives at Apo and that was my sole purpose for choosing the resort. If I was better prepared and the resorts were closer together I could have gone diving with another operatio

I and my friends came a day early than the booking that I made by mistake (I booked Nov 4-6 when it's supposed to be Nov 3-5), but the staff who assisted us was very accommodating and was really considerate. We were nervous that she will not let us check in but she found a way somehow to let us stay and we really appreciate that. Another great thing about this hotel is it was really cheap but the facilities are really good and clean, it almost looks brand new. If I could give 10 stars, I would!!!

Location of the hotel is good. Near the beautiful seafront for your evening walk to enjoy the sea breeze. Various choices of restaurants along the seafront for your dinner. Dishes of different styles, both oriental and occidental, are available. The room is tidy and clean. Staff is nice and helpful. Rooms facing the street is a bit noisy, but still acceptable. Improvements required is the stability of wifi and choice of food of the restaurant.

I can't say enough good things about the U Pension Damaguete. Due to an unexpected last minute change of plans I arrived 5 days earlier than my booking was for. The ladies on the reception were incredibly accommodating. I was quite unwell, and was unable to get online to try to amend the online booking I'd made to change the dates. Despite not having a booking for that night, and not having paid a deposit or even confirmed I would stay in the U Pension that night the ladies very kindly let me go to an airconditioned room, rest and sort out my online booking. I was so incredibly grateful for their kindness as I was alone and feeling very unwell. I was able to change my booking (thank you again Agoda) so I didn't waste the booking, and confirm 5 nights in the U Pension. There's not a lot to do in Damaguete, however staying at the U Pension made my unexpected and unplanned stay more enjoyable. All the ladies on reception really are lovely. They gave us tips on transfers, taxis, restaurants, things to do etc. The rooms are generous size and great value. They're clean, the beds are comfortable, the water is nice and hot, the air con nice and cold and the tv has a full range of channels for non stop entertainment. There's also wifi in the room. The hotel is in a great location only a short walk from anything - Lee Plaza, The Boulevard, cafés, the airport, the ferry terminal etc.

For dumaguete the pricing is a bit too much. Though the room and hotel in general are very clean. The toilet though looks very cheap and common. The breakfast is something we were not happy about. During our first time staying there, it was plated with very good selection. This time its buffet which is supposed to be better but the selection sucks. I ended up not eating anything. The staff is friendly and went above and beyond. Overall i would still recommend but i hope they change the breakfast and add skirting to their beds.

We were a group of 3 adults and 1 kid, booked 2 rooms for 1 night, ate lunch and breakfast at their cafe. The rooms were old but clean with basic amenities. The free breakfast was budbod with suman, delicious and came with cheap room rates. Their cafe offered delicious all-day breakfast and other meals at affordable prices. Service was very good, deskfront open 24 hours, and you can store your luggage with them for pick up later in the day. Their location is nearer the airport than downtown but Dumaguete City is very small, everything is near, and most tricycle (regular commute around the city) drivers know the location and will deliver you at their doorstep, just say "Gabby's hotel in Daro".

Bahura Resort is the nicest beach resort I've ever seen. It's located on the beach, at the lower tip of Negros Oriental. It's about a 30 minute drive from Dumaguete. Being a couple, we stayed in their smallest room. This room is at least twice the size of other rooms at the same price. The bed was comfortable, and could easily hold four. There was no downside to this wonderful resort.

Dumaguete is a small town. Best thing they boast about is food. La Residencia has one of the best Spanish restos. All the other best restos are alongside it where you have Casablanca, Sans Rival cakes & pastries, etc. It's a short walking distance to Lee Plaza mall and to the City Center. Staff are very nice...makes you feel so much at home. The only downside here is wifi and network signal....quite poor when you are in the room.

We will definitely be coming back! Perfect stay from Room, Facilities, Food & Staff! Our Room is very clean, it's amazing! The food is one of the best here in Negros, it's worth it! Staffs are very helpful and attentive. The facilities are in excellent condition even the resort is small compared to other. The only issue is the internet, hope it will be connected soon! Perfect getaway for everyone!

The ride from the airport to Sta Monica was about 20 minutes through a van with some traffic jam. It went through the downtown areas and the only proper mall on the island. The service of the hotel staff’s was very nice, you can enquire for all the information you need and they are very helpful. We stayed here for one night and had a very good experience. There were a lot of options in the breakfast buffet, with various kinds of meat.
