Sichuan Province hotels & places to stay

As someone who has stayed in a lot of hotels in China, this is easily one of the best. The service staff is friendly and attentive, especially Steven Liu. Communicating with them in English was easy and convenient. Upon arrival to the property Steven helped us check in without any issues. The location could not be better, walking distance to the Sichuan Museum, Tianfu Square, and old walking streets. The breakfast buffet was worth the 88 Kuai. And again the service staff was the highlight of this hotel!

Fraser Suites is located in downtown Chengdu which taxi drivers should know the place very well. 5 min walking distance to Tian Fu Square Metro station which is the interchange station for both Metro Line 1 and Line 2 in Chengdu, one station to ChunXi Road, two stations to RenMin Park, 3 or 4 Stations to Raffles City (Sichuan Gymnasium Station)etc which is really convenient for me to explore Chengdu. There are 3 shopping malls just beside and opposite the apartment including lots of restaurants serving various cuisines such as Western, Japanese and Sichuanese, Starbucks, Carrefour, convenience stores, local hawker food along streets. I was quite lucky to be upgraded to 1+1 suite from studio as I was told the studios were fully occupied when I reached from airport. The service staff at the reception, level 7 restaurants, gym, main entrance doors are all very friendly and helpful, give me all necessary guidance. They always have a smiling face with soft tone of speaking. I would definitely recommend this apartment to my relatives and friends who visit Chengdu, and will come back to stay here again next time!

We have become perennial guests at Niccolo Chengdu. During our annual visits to see family, it is like our home away from home, as it has all the luxuries of home and then some. We are travelers that demand high quality and service wherever we go, and Niccolo Chengdu has often met and exceed our expectations. The rooms are well-appointed, clean, spacious and have a luxurious feel. The staff is consistently excellent and attentive, and often go above and beyond. The buffet breakfast is the best in town with a wide variety of options, but it is pricey. However, you get what you pay for. The pool is really nice although the water temperature could be a few degrees higher for better comfort of its guests. Finally, the location is perfect, as it is in the heart of central Chengdu and directly across from Tai Koo Li, a modern (albeit expensive) shopping district with all the options and alternatives of luxury living. And, best of all for us, it is within walking distance to family!

This luxury resort provides good amenity and make guest feel calm. It is located near Qing Cheng Mt. There are wonderful alternatives ;brand new panda valley, Dujiangyan and Jiezi old town. It takes 15~20 mins by taxi. Also you can enjoy yourself in the resort by walking through with fresh air and amenity. Swimming pool is spacious. You can enjoy Chinese Sichuan food in the breakfast. I recommend Moon bar's cocktail and visiting in weekends.

Being a frequent traveller in China, I have since long grew tired of old, tired and run down "5 star hotels" that probably bought the last 2 stars in the ranking. Especially in second-tier cities like Chengdu, even big brands like Sheraton or Kempinski can be surprisingly bad. Hence, Rhombus was a great and fresh surprise! The decor is smart, staff fluent in English, interior not fancy, but rather neat and sleek in a confident way that I really love. Reminds me of Japanese or Scandinavian design, rather than boring Chinese/Soviet "grand halls" with high roof. I got upgraded to a suite on top floor. It was about 60 sqm, had two huge flat screen TVs, and a fantastic bathroom in glass and marble. There was a kind of sofa in front of the window with great view, were I sat down to do my work. There was even a coffee machine with two free capsules every day. Location great: Supermarket at ground level, plaza with multiple restaurants 5 min walking away, and easy to catch a cab just outside the hotel. The only negatives was an expensive breakfast buffet (148 RMB, so I didn't try it), and that the pool was not yet opened during my stay, though it opened the week after I left. All in all, this was maybe the best value hotel I ever stayed at - and I've been to quite a few hotel all over Asia!

Kempinski has long been one of the best hotels in Chengdu for its convenient location - 20-minute drive from the airport and a subway station just 200m away. Room size and property maintenance is good but: (1) there is a car-park gate in front of the hotel entrance so taxi drivers are reluctant to drive in and tend to drop you off outside the main road. Though 50m away from the hotel entrance, I was caught in the rain this time. (2) not many good F&B outlets nearby only perhaps a dozen local ones in th opposite streets. (3) the pillows are bad - one is too flat but two are too thick!

Breakfast spread is really good-many local Sichuan dishes, salad, fruits, dim sum, pastry, yogurt, etc. Special thanks to the very friendly hotel staff Vivi who proactively offered help when I faced issue buying ticket online. She is also very helpful in many other ways. Thank you very much, Vivi. Other staff I met at both restaurant and hotel are all very helpful and friendly too.

I was at The Temple House for 2 nights for a business trip. Being a relatively new hotel, the taxi driver couldn't pin point it's location and made a call to the front desk. Upon arrival, it was assuring to see a couple of staff from the hotel rushing out to greet us in the late night offering their assistance. The hotel has a great oriental modern design vibe. There are two blocks and the walking distance equates to a residential development from the restaurants to my block. It wasn't a bad walk as you would have to traverse through grass patios and a nice environment. I received an upgrade, so my review of this room may be bias somewhat. But given the suite, the bathroom was beautifully designed, spacious and adequately fitted. The bedroom and living areas were as what you would see from their website and presented no nasty surprises. A free minibar was refreshing. You will find very little to complain about as a hotel guest. The staff has been very helpful and informative during my stay. I think they have been well trained and are not that shy to approach their guests. I think this hotel will soon be the best one for Chengdu also given its location in Tai Koo Li which is an open air mall of sorts. The only niggling complain I have is the quality of food. Breakfast wasn't included in the rate (which was silly) but I think most modern hotels are now cutting back on food waste by not providing the buffet. However, the noodles I ordered for breakfast was somewhat bland and the wantons were nothing to shout about. Rather disappointing especially when it could have been the icing on the cake of an overall great stay. The Chinese tea house was a nice place to be in. I am not a tea aficionado but it tasted good and the snacks consisted of the usual savoury Chinese pastries. Will be back again.

staying in a small more relaxed hotel that was not a tower block and oozed charm added a more authentic aspect to our stay in chengdu. set back from the street and built in the local architectural style with the rooms around a courtyard enclosing a four headed buddha and a water feature it was peaceful after the noise and traffic of the city. the surrounding but quiet local curio stalls and "snack street" added extra interest. the restaurant served some cantonese style food that were more appealing to the children than the spicy sichuan food. the service in the restaurant lacked some attentive and friendly service but the front desk staff were welcoming and helpful.

Owing to my daughter wanting to spend time at the Paradise water park, we booked the intercontinental for one night. Had chosen a panoramic view room so she could enjoy the view. On checkin, since the room was not available, we got a free upgrade. Service and staff were exemplary and unlike most other hotels in the city we have been at, they spoke enough English for us to get by. The infinity pool was a hit with my daughter. We did have a small nuance in service during breakfast, but the duty manager more than compensated for it in other ways. Definitely a hotel I would recommend.

It was a wonderful experience staying at the Haiyatt Garden. The room was clean and has a lovely smell of freshness whenever I come back from a day's outing. I was there everyday for a good foot massage. The therapist are skillful. Great value for money. It was beyond my expectations. The breakfast spread was superb. The Concierge was helpful in making tour arrangement for my friend and I. One of them even walked us to the Sichuan Opera nearby as we weren't sure of the directions given. There are plenty of places to shop around the hotel.... individual shops, department stores, and malls.

It was money worth to stay in this hotel. We booked 4 rooms for 3 nights. The location was perfect - lots of shopping and restaurants behind/next to the hotel. The rooms were better than expected, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was beyond our expectation for a 3 star hotel. The food was delicious coupled with good. well mannered staff from reception to F & B. You may have difficulty if you are coming by train or taxi as the hotel is nestled among old shops and no main road to access it. We booked our airport shuttle (not from this hotel) and they managed to find the location. We highly recommend this hotel for those who love shopping and food.

It is not easy to find a western-style breakfast on the mainland. In Chengdu, fortunately, the breakfast at the Sofitel Hotel is really impossible to challenge. A cup of ground coffee, delicious yoghurt, authentic French bread, bread pudding and French Bonne Maman jam are all wonderful. Of course, the hotel staff are well trained in service and are also important factors. Of course, Chinese-style meals are just as delicious, and a chef who cooks noodles cooks a delicious Sichuan-style pasta. Chinese dishes are also very rich, so to speak, no matter the Chinese or Western breakfast, the Sofitel Hotel offers a delightful and memorable breakfast. I am looking forward to seeing you again in Chengdu next time. I can stay at the Sofitel Hotel again and experience another wonderful experience. （要在大陸找到具有西方品味的早餐，不見得十分容易。在成都，很幸運的，索菲特酒店的早餐真讓人無法挑惕。一杯研磨咖啡、美味酸奶、正統法國麵包、標準麵包布丁以及法國Bonne Maman果醬等都讓人感覺十分美好。當然，酒店人員受到良好服務訓練，也是重要美好因素。當然，中式餐點一樣可口，煮麵的隆老師傅，煮出極為道地的川味麵食。中式菜色同樣豐富美味，中、西方早餐，索菲特酒店都提供了讓人愉悅高興又難忘的早餐餐

The staff were extremely helpful - organizing trips to the see the pandas as well as helping us navigate around the city. We do not speak Chinese so while it was tricky at times, they were very happy to help us with taxis and even finding appropriate dining venues (we also do not eat spicey food so this was a bit tough considering every restaurant was all about Sichuan food!). The rooms are very comfortable and the location is great - shopping and restaurants are only a few minutes away. Overall, this was a great stay!

My memories of the Holiday Inn are shaped by a stay in 1998 in Guangzhou - which was a terrible hotel. This time I booked the Holiday Inn more because it was located in the city centre than anything else, and went in expecting a 3 star, at best. It was a big surprise to find a really nice looking hotel, good lobby, nice rooms, good fittings and a pretty decent gym and indoor pool. It was a huge feature to find the entrance to the subway station 5 steps from the hotel entrance. Area around the hotel is filled with small local shops and restaurants, and big malls are not far away. Overall a good place to stay and it's rebooted my memories of the Holiday Inn.

Classic, long lasting for decades as THE place to stay in central Chengdu. Having toured this property 3 yrs prior, and noted the elegant, unique dining room, when a "special" for room w/buffet breakfast, at 1/4 the "normal" price, was offered, I immediately booked two "special treat" nights. Chengdu's Jinjiang Hotel is the equal to, in some cases, exceeds NYC Plaza Hotel. Would stay here on return if this 4-5mos winter traveler spotted a similar budget offering.

We have stayed at least 3 times in the last month and found the hotel consistently perfect. Beds are extremely comfortable and rooms are well appointed and housekeeping is flawless. Staff is genuinely helpful, they helped us change our dates without any hassle when we had issues with our flights and helped us book train tickets as we had difficulties with the Chinese systems. They also offered us flexible check in and out times. Hotel is located in the newly developed technology area of Chengdu and is next to a metro station.

The hotel is within walking distance to the metro station. Line 2 and 3 are very convenient to reach most of the sightseeing spots. The hotel itself is located above a shopping center and is surrounded by many other shops, shopping centers and eateries. The staffs are professional and very helpful. The room is clean. The only thing is the room is a bit dated even though the hotel just opened last year.

This is going to be a slightly long review as I will cover a few aspects. LOCATION - Very near to WenShuYuan MRT exit H. When you exit from Exit H, cross the road (at your exit there is a traffic light) and walk left. There is a stall which sells fruit at the last of your lane and turn right in and there is your hotel. Staff (I think is the manager is very rude. She gives a bad face and when I requested for 2 pillows, she brought the pillow without the pillowcase. What type of service and nonsense is this?) But the cleaner does her job and is friendly. That is good. They do not accept tips and I think that is commendable! :) Diligent and cleans the room well. Basic cleanliness is obtained. The toilet glass is actually not fully frosted, the bottom is see through and also, the door and the wall has some gap.. Facilities wise it is okay, room is spacious & bed is very comfy! Soft! For the location and the comfort, I would recommend people staying in this hotel for their visit!

Is the best hotel I stay in Chengdu, the room is clean, the location is good(5min walks to nearest subway), the hotel’s food is nice, the staffs also very friendly and helpful (especially Xiao min and Micheal) who will help us to solve the problem and arrange our schedule. Thanks a lot and let us have a nice and conformtable journey in Chengdu and Sichuan! Definetely will come back here if I come to Chengdu next time! Thumbs up!!!:)

best place to stay in chengdu! so near to the metro (which was in a mall, silver), and so near to the shopping district. the staff spoke great english and were very friendly and attentive. they have an outdoor lounge area upstairs which was really nice... if the chengdu weather was not hazy and the nights dark. also, they have organised tours within the hostel, so if you come to chengdu without any plans, just follow their free (and awesome) map and you'll have a blast! the worst part of my 2 week trip there was the 'sichuan opera'. the whole thing is an embarrassment to the name of theatre and performance art. if you want to watch a proper oriental opera, do not follow their tour. spend some money and watch a good one. i wanted to cry at the end of it. it did have the mask-changing and a bit of acrobats, i've watched better ones in beijing and malaysia for free by the temples. oh!!! do try the blind massage at the niushikou blind massage school, it's near the niushikou metro (42, niushikou rd.), the best massage ever for only 35 yuan (about usd6).

This apartment was a great find at a great price. The location was fabulous, close to a metro station and with a great upscale mall close by. Lots and lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The apartment itself was very nice, on the 37th floor with good internet, and the owner was very responsive when we had a special request. One small constructive criticism - the kitchen could be better stocked with dishes and other items. Although there was a cooktop, there were no pots or pans to use on it. No plates, and just 2 bowls. All in all, a great experience and we would go back.

My girlfriend and I stayed here while visiting Chengdu for a friend’s wedding. We were impressed the minute we walked in; the lobby was beautiful and smelled amazing. I wish I knew how they made it smell so good… The staff was super friendly and upgraded our room since there was vacancy in a nicer suite. They met our every need in a hurry, sending up a power adapter for my girlfriend, umbrellas when it rained, and a wine opener for Friday night. If you are worried about your Chinese skills, all the managers speak English. There is also plenty to check out within walking distance but if you don’t feel like going out the hotel has plenty of restaurant, a tea house, and a spa. When it was time to leave the hotel arranged a cab to take us to the airport. All in all, this is the nicest hotel my girlfriend and I have stayed at to date. The service was top notch and anything we have booked in the United States pales in comparison.

We had a really great stay at this hotel! It was well kept and very clean and tidy. The staff were incredible! The couple (?) who manage it speak very good English and are exceptionally helpful, they provided us with tips for the area and recommendations! Facilities are a 4 star because there is no fridge in the room, other than that, we could not fault the room! 5 star stay overall :)
