Terengganu State hotels & places to stay

A real 4 star hotel. We already explained some things in the last review, because we booked 2 rooms. Wonderful holidays, but... the architect of that hotel surely didn't know that it is raining in Malaysia. How can he make a hotel without a roof in the middle? During rain the floors to the rooms are full of water. Normally the manager and boss of a hotel should be there most of the time and work hard, even work more than all other workers (as it is normal in most countries) but... there was no manager or boss in August 2018!!! I wish that the hotel could get a new manager in 2019 who would really work and also show up to the tourists. The staff there is one of the best we have ever seen. I would like to come back there because the staff made us happy, always very friendly, always working hard, trying to change problems (because of mismanagement from the boss) into happier moments. Thanks to the staff for having had a wonderful stay!

Wonderfully surprising for the hospitality provided by the staff was warm , accomadating, friendly and ever willing to serve. I must give high praises to Encik Sulaiman who drove from Merang Jetty to Kuala Terengganu jetty to help my family and i get the our car out of the parking bay at the terminal which was lock. I commend such commitment to serve guest and pray that your kindness and help will always be rewarded.But, facilities for water sports were just too expensive and indoor games were unavailable to smaller kids for the equipments were in poor conditions. I do hope the hotel will upgrade these facilites for younger kids. Overall great hotel and great staff.

Grand Puteri Hotel is a new hotel in Kuala Terenganu. It is a big and good-looking hotel. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Last school holiday, my family and I went to Terengganu for shopping. It was our third visit to Terengganu. We stayed at Grand Puteri Hotel for one night. It was our first stay at Grand Puteri Hotel. Wow! A very nice and comfortable hotel I can say. It was much more enjoyable than I had expected...

Primula has been a family and a personal choice since 1990. We have been returning almost every year. We like it there for the convenience amd the beach view. The food served are all good. The local cuisine nasi dagang and ketupat sotong are amgst the best ive found in Terengganu. I just need a Primula membership to call it my home in Terengganu - if only tjats possible. :)

When booking in we noticed a sign on the reception desk that said if you want breakfast at more than 50% discount then book it whilst booking in, we did and as the breakfast is all-u-can-eat and is excellent we are glad we did, 10MR each, such a bargain. There is complimentary juice on all day and hot water for your own drinks free on request. The night-time dinner 25MR is also a bargain when put up against others, Snorkal and mask hire 5 MR, DO IT! and swim round the rocks at the front of the hotel, best bargain of the year! The rooms are nice and have a local feel and all well equipped. Dont whinge at the oh-so-slight imperfections here and there, its a real bargain place and a great stay, do the snorkalling trips. brilliant. Monitor Lizards, Squirrels and the odd cat keep you on your toes. Enjoy. One downer, Smoking in the Hotel, its 2013 folks and it shouldn`t be happening.. especially in the dining room.

i stayed in TH Hotel for vacation with my family. the hotel was actually an accomodation built for the pilgrimages during pilgrimage season. But it was newly renovated and we found it so comfy, so new, so big for a family, and up to international standard. after all, the food were very delicious and we have no doubt at all it was halal because this hotel is run by muslim company. we really had a great time while staying there. I will definitely suggest to people to come to this hotel whether for their business trip or vacation. the thing that maybe downgraded the value of the hotel because it was located in the middle of the 'desert' despite of terengganu is a state that well knowned of its beautiful beaches. but hey, the hotel is near to airport.. have fun, everyone.

1 couple + 2 girls I rarely comment but this hotel deserves its compliment. Great hotel, I recommend it without hesitation. Family consisting of 2 little girls 5 years and 6 years old. We were very welcome on arrival at the front desk. Bottle of fresh mineral water upon arrival. We stayed 4 nights at Trivoli Inn. Hotel located 2 minutes from the wonderful beach long beach, so this is the best location on Kecil Island for dinner and Celebration The cheapest hotel on the island, look no further, Room very clean on arrival. All rooms are tiled. Anti mosquito window Very well insulated. Hotel staff will maintain your garden space every morning in front of your door. Very kind After 4 days spent at Tivoli Inn We spent 4 nights at Shari La because we had booked before arriving on the island. And frankly after Shari-la, We decided to extend our stay at the Perenthian Islands by booking an additional 3 nights on the Tivoli Inn because we felt at home. I will definitely come back next year.

8 of us together thankful to the services, fast response, kindness of each and every staff of the hotel. So many request we have made throughout the 3 days and they have never fail us in each single request on best effort. We have walk around the Island to the other hotels and noted that the water in front of the hotel is clearest among all. Nearby the other Jeti beside the hotel have a great view for snorkeling, just ask the diving department of the location. Wear slipper/swimming shoes as there is plenty of coral which may cut your feet. We stay in the pool villa which have 2 big five star bed. Breakfast and lunch was good and we love the barbecue dinner that hotel prepared. We had a wonderful experience in Lang Tengah with great services provided by all the hotel staff and the Manager.

unfortunately being a foreigner i took it that terengganu and kuala terengganu were one and the same. on arriving on the outskirts of kuala terengganu i phoned the awana hotel for directions only to discover that it was 200 kilometers south. at that stage we were too tired to drive a further 200 kilometers as we had come from penang. i phoned the hotel again to explain our predicament and that we would not be using the room.

I booked the hotel as reviews stated we can see the latest attraction in Kuala Terengganu- the draw bridge nicely from this hotel and it was true indeed. The front desk was very efficient and friendly. However, the interior and hotel facilities were not really up to my expectation. The cushion, curtain, and bed sheets were torn and not organised. Specks of dust can be seen almost every corners. I have complained about the burnt bulbs and tub shower yet only the bulbs were fixed. The surroundings and design of the whole resort were really nice. Unfortunately the whole condition was not really up to my expectation. I even cancelled my plan to take a dip in the pool as the water looked not clean. Still, the staffs of reception, breakfast hall and buggy drivers should be given credits for their great services.

Previous reviews had made me feel very apprehensive about our booking - and so I was pleasantly surprised upon arriving. The location is great, at the quiet end of the beach, where the sand is powdery and there are no pieces of dead corals washing up. Relatively few boats. No noise from bars. Christina at the reception is wonderful - efficient and polite. Room was really spacious and very clean. We had a 'Lagoon room', which meant a room facing an artificial pond. Very pretty. No insects or bugs. Yes, some of the furniture is outdated and the bathroom fixtures definitely need to be replaced. However, hot water worked and water pressure was fine. Housekeeping is between 2 and 6 pm, I think, but you can ask at the reception for them to come earlier. Towels for beach are provided. Breakfast was mediocre. If you plan to use the public ferry, get your ticket from Kuala Terengganu (Shahbandar jetty) - there the ticket costs about 35 RM per person, while the hotel charges 555 RM).

The reviews did scare me, however we wanted to visit the Perhentian islands and we had no alternative. I must say the the resort was wonderful. Let me start with the room (we booked a superior room in the main building). The beds are more than ok, however the shower and toilet (both in the room and the one are the reception) could use some updating and that's an understatement). The breakfast is for malesian standerds very good. You can get toast, all kinds of pastry, fruits, cereal, and Malsian style breakfast. Moreover, you can order eggs (prepared in all ways: omelette, scrambled etc). The menu of the restaurant has enough choice. We also had lunch in other places, but I must say that the restaurant in Arwana was very good. The chef (Abdulrazak) is very kind and even gave us some Malaysian chicken saté. For diner they also have a very good bbq or fish steam boat. The best plus of the resort is the swimming pool. It is cleaned every morning. It is a shame that they do not invest in a good filtering system (you don;t need to clean the pool in the morning so in the long run saved you money and the pool isn't dirty in the evening). This is the largest swimming pool on the island. Is very useful if you have small children (and indeed for adults :-). The hotel has also it's own small pier. This is very handy if you need to carry luggage. You don't need to drag this over the beach to you resort. Another big plus it the diving school at the facility. For people that have no experience...the pool is very handy for learning the basics of diving. We took lessens and found are very satisfied...other schools go to shallow water witch is very hard due to the waves. Excellent. The staff was great. We came to Perhentian Besar to relax but we ended up signing up for the open water diving course. We were surprised to hear that the owner of the dive shop holds one of the diving records here in Malaysia. It was an honor to having him as our instructor. He really care about all his guests. It's been a while since Ive seen an owner/manager take the time to talk to each guest. The food is delicious, after eating at 2 other places here in the island, I gotta say their food is the best. The atmosphere is the best in the island, I honestly couldnt find another place that was better than this. I would highly recommend it to any person that wants to relax or wants to go diving. This is my favorite island in Malaysia and I have to give credit to the staff that made us feel very special.

We booked Tropicana Inn.We were quite sceptical about the location and the service.Once we arrived at the resort we were very happy as the Tropicana Inn is located at the best location i.e. between the two beaches, Long Beach which is the happening place and Coral Bay.Long Beach is only one to two minutes walk from the resort and Coral Bay is only about five minutes walk.The room and the toilet were clean and well maintained. It is probably the cleanest budget island resort I have stayed over the one month in Malaysia and Borneo.The only bad point about this hotel is that we had communication problem with some of the staff who need some training.Otherwise we were very happy with our stay.A special thanks to Mr. Ngeow Tikas who was very helpful during our stay there.

We booked 2 studio premium rooms for one night at first and extended our stay for another night. Check-in was a breeze and the two ladies behind the reception counter were nice and friendly. They even upgraded our rooms to premium triple (1 queen bed + 1 single bed). The rooms were big and comfortable enough for my family and parents. The furnitures were quite dated but that dont matter as long as they were functional. The bathrooms, however, were small and no separate shower. Meaning we have to shower in the tub. It wasnt a problem for us but i'm sure my parents had trouble climbing in the tub whenever they had to shower or take wudhu'. Breakfast was fair in terms of variation and quite tasty (i like the gulai kampung). The hotel is within walking distance to some restaurants and very close to some batik shops. It took us about 5 minutes to get to pasar payang by car. My children enjoyed the pool but the kid's pool was small.. more like a dipping pool to me. All in all i like staying in the Grand Continental Hotel and I would probably stay here again when i'm back in Terengganu, insyaAllah.

One stop solutions: Snorkeling, kayak, diving & etc. could be signed up easily here with fairly good price! Food here are out of our expectations as normally the food served in an island are not so clean & well prepared. However, this hotel provided a variety of food choice (the fresh ones!) with reasonable price. That's why this restaurant is always crowded but the waiting time is not so long. It would be best if the hair dryer is come with the room although you could borrow hair dryer from the counter when you need it. Strategic location: It's within walking distance to a clean and beautiful beach. You could see Pulau Perhentian Kecil along the beach. Friendly staff: The staff here are really helpful and efficient. You could get info from the counter easily. The only bad thing I could think of here is that the phone signal and internet connection are not stable. So, don't be mad if you cannot access to the internet here.

Friendly staff (keep good work) Cons. 1. Small pool Well done to all Permai's staff especially Mr. Akmal (Cafe waiter) for their friendliness and professionalisme. Overall, nice hotel to stay when you are in Terengganu. Tips : Remember to ask for room located at the new wing or already refurbished. Keep good work Permai Hotel!! It was a pleasant stayed!!

The stay at Sumai Suite deluxe apartment,I and my family member enjoy comfortable stay like at home. We enjoy chating with family members in the nice and clean living room, our whole family member could having variety buffet breakfast together in the comfortable restaurant. We all like the nice seaview from the apartment and also enjoy the local seafood along the beach restaurant 500 meter from hotel and nice shopping in the "Pasar Besar Payang" night market nearby this hotel. I strongly recomanded the stay in Sumai Suite to whom wish to go for vacation or bussiness trip travel in Kuala Terengganu.

Alunan Resort may not be the best destination if you're looking for a great dip into the ocean filled with aquatic life and soft sands but it is the best place for excellent service and delicious food. The staff at Alunan Resort treat you as if you were their dearest friend. Their warmth and hospitality is truly unmatched by other hotels I've been to, an example, they packed food from the breakfast table for my family and I when they realized we weren't there at the restaurant. Speaking of food, their western selection is excellent, fresh fish as well as tasty pasta. If those things are of importance to you, I highly suggest Alunan Resort as your next destination.

There were several things about this hotel : 1) Best location on the island. You have some privacy at the beach and you have the best view. It is very quiet and peaceful. 2) Staff were more than friendly, I asked for an extra bed and payed for it but then wanted to return it and they gladly agreed to give me a refund.and they helped arrange for my ferry ride back to kuala besut and they even took my bags from my room to the dock! 3) Check in is at 3 but we arrived at around 7 a.m and they gladly checked us in, we didnt have to wait. Also, check out was at 12 but we had a snorkeling trip that extended to 1 pm so they allowed us to check out at 2 pm. 4) Housekeeping is really slow ! I asked for extra pillows three times until I got them around 3 hours later! 5) The breakfast was actually pleasant. They had the typical beans, sausage and french toast, but they also had some local dishes like noodles and rice. So I really enjoyed it. It was worth the money. As for lunch and dinner, I'd recommend you to check other restaurants on the island. 6) If you wanna buy some things from a supermarket, I would recommend walking to the other hotels where water and snacks are much much cheaper ! A 1.5 water bottle is 7 RM at this hotel and 4 at the others 7) The hotel definitely needs some renovation as the bathroom is very dingy but clean. 8) It is the most expensive hotel on this island but I definitely think it was worth the money. A single day cut me around 330 RM short. So if u have the extra cash, go for it!

We booked a standard room/chalet which is furthest from the beach. Fair enough as it was the cheapest room at the resort. The facade of the chalet looks presentable and quaint as it is the intended look. But the inside of the room was in a run-down condition. The walls are grimy, it looked like it hasn't been refurbished at all ever since it was built some 26 years ago. When we entered our room, we saw a half eaten peanut on the floor just in front of the door. It was clean half heartedly by the housekeeping staff. The toilet was in a really poor state and we had to request for a broom and water ladle (gayung) so we could clean the toilet ourselves. The place seriously needs a major revamping to be able to provide a conducive and comfortable accommodation for the island guests. Good things about the room we stayed in was the working air-condition, 4 working electrical plug points to charge mobile phones and cameras. The mattresses and pillows are clean and quite comfy although the blanket was a bit rough and old. The staff was also accommodating and helpful which is a plus point. We are experienced travellers and have stayed in a harsher type accommodations (tent, rustic hut) than this resort so we are not the complaining type but if the room rate was much cheaper we wouldn't have much to complain.

The hotel is located exactly the other end from the famous landmark more more tea inn. It might sound far but walking from one end to the other is just about half an hour. Staff services wise is very good, they are taking the initiative to contact with you first and reply to all your enquiries. Basically most of the expenses are included ie ferry services from Terengganu to Redang and transfer to hotel, accommodation, breakfast, lunch, tea time, dinner and snorkeling twice per day at 9.30 am and 2.30 pm. You will have to rent snorkeling equipment once throughout your stay which includes mask and life jacket, items are to be kept in the room until you finished using during the stay. We rented a semi-detached Seaview bungalow. The staircases to the room requires some walking and some said not suitable for elders which is true. Young people will have no problem for it. The room comes with attic floor inside the room itself which is special. Two relaxing chairs are outside the room for you to enjoy the view. Room made of wood but expect lots of funny or weird sounds heard from roof on and off, we expect is some stick branches fell on the roof or squirrels crawling around. No housekeeping is provided, basic towels and blanket with 4 pillows are available but do not expect things with new or fresh smell. No TV but with aircond and a wall fan. Aircond temperature is not adjustable. Toilet door couldn't be locked at all. Toilet bowl after flushing will flow out additional flows which will cause stink smell. Referred to the man and he said no one is interested to work in the island for repair works during the island close in monsoon season. Thus upkeep is at its poorest. Friends warned us to keep valuable things safely and unseen due to some theft issues previously however we are glad to have not facing any issues on this. Food will be repeated every 2 days ie Sunday will be same as Tuesday. Not much food selection bur they offer good drinks like orange, sirup, coffee and t

first off, forget what you think is 5 star. the perhentian islands are basic! some of the other 'hotels' offer next to nothing with no spirit either, and we were overwhelmed when we arrived at bubu. the staff were so friendly, helpful, and the rooms were really comfortable. the beach makes up for anything else, and anyone who gripes about the hotel really should investigate the others. this place is perfection!! the most organised and 'local' place on both islands, great service, incredible views, and the best food we ate in our 2 week stay. i didn't think we had breakfast included, but breakfast was included (delicious), and we also got 2 free cocktails each evening between 5 and 6. it kind of made up for the price tag. i'd recommending saving this place for the last, because trust me, it is the best, and you will be surprised.

On 02/05/2016, I booked 4 rooms (2 Deluxe Twin Rooms and 2 Family Deluxe Rooms for 10 persons) at J Suites Hotel, Kuala Terengganu for 2 nights from 29/05/2016 to 31/05/2016. Agoda had confirmed my booking with booking ID 94409403 and 94409066 on 02/05/2016. Rooms payment has been effected on 02/05/2016 as per my credit card statement dated 19/05/2016. I have paid the bank on 25/05/2016. We checked in to the hotel on 29/05/2016 about 6.30pm. The hotel receptionist informed that my name was not stated in their booking list. There has been no rooms reservation for us. Moreover, the hotel was fully booked. I were unhappy and argued with the receptionist that this is their problem with Agoda. Agoda had confirmed the booking and payment has been made. Meanwhile, I also called Agoda Support for assistance at 03-20531869 twice (@ 6.55pm duration: 4 min 30 sec and 7.01pm duration: 1 min 58 sec - automated phone answering system and the calls were left unattended) and 18666568207 (@ 6.55pm and 7.00pm - calls were cancelled due to incomplete phone number). Finally, one of the hotel staff, Ms Crystal was willing to help. She offered us 2 Deluxe Twin Rooms (room no. 3007 and 3008) for 2 pax each and 1 Family Deluxe Room (room no. 3012) for 3 pax. The remaining 1 Family Deluxe Room which I booked for 3 pax was replaced by 2 Deluxe Double Room with 1 king bed (room no. 3036 and 3037). She said no extra charges as we have made payment to Agoda. The issue was solved and I really appreciated their kind assistance. However, the story did not end here. We experienced power failure for that night, 29/05/2016 about 9.00pm. There were about 7 to 8 rooms affected by the power failure. Our rooms no. 3007, 3012 and 3037 were one of them. The hotel technician has checked and informed that the power failure was due to Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) fuse box problem. They have called TNB to fix the problem and the matter has been tracked until 12.00 midnight. Finally, the problem has been reso
