"We were looking for a place somewhere in the outskirts of Beijing to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were attracted by the stellar reviews that this hotel has received. When we showed up on the day we were pleasantly surprised by how much improvement the local roads that led us to the hotel. We thought for a moment we were visiting the countryside in Europe. The Brickyard Hotel has been operating for over 10 years. The owners have done a great job in maintaining the place that everywhere we went around the hotel we could see thoughts and efforts being put in it. We were told that the pandemic has affected the business quite a lot so the hotel has rooms to spare during the time we stayed and they offered to upgrade us to a suite at Sansa Retreat which is a sister hotel next door to Brickyard. We first inspected the regular room we booked at Brickyard which was small but very tastefully decorated. We were then showed the suite at Sansa which was so much more spacious plus some terrace outdoor space. It was a tough decision as we liked both places but we chose the Sansa suite more so because of the outdoor space the room offered. Words could not describe how much we enjoyed our stay especially at night when we could stay on the terrace when everywhere was almost pitch-dark. We could watch the stars and the clear sky above us which was like a dream come true. We couldn’t wait to have another opportunity to stay in this great Chinese hotel again and to enjoy the hospitality from such a fine team of hotel staff. We couldn’t be more grateful to have found this gem. Highly recommend this place to anyone. "

"I am a beijingnese but been living abroad well traveled worldwide staying all sort of high end hotels. However this is the first time I would like to write a review for a hotel. Being sceptical at the beginning about the service standard due to some reviews but was only surprised by the high level of professional attentive care to guests. Our family has 9 members with old and young, we have arrived very late after 10pm but The receptionist Enlain Wang was extremely helpful and sorted out our rooms upon arrival with minimum check in time. My Parents' room was also upgraded to suite. Check out was also equally swift. Surroundings are beautiful countryside, a lovely retreat for weekend getaway from Beijing. Only an hour drive from the city. We had a wonderful weekend and wil definitely come back. "

"Wonderful, except the curtain for the transparent from outside garden bathroom is too thin and transparent so there was no feeling of security when taking a bath. Ended up bathing with lights turned off!"

"This property is in a great location, close to the wall..if you want a hotel ,then this is not for you ...this is more a basic B&B ...facilities are ok ...don't rely on your airport pickup ,as the owners forgot even though we got confirmation only one day prior ...taxi from airport is easy and same price ..."

"I booked this hotel as a surprise for my husband on his birthday - when we arrived there were no guests only us !! We were immediately upgraded to a room with a view of the Great Wall and our room was lovely - the view was outstanding !! As we were the only guests we had to inform them in the mornings if we were going to eat in the hotel - which we did every evening as the everything closed in the village at 6pm - the food was simple and tasty and big portions and the staff ( one lovely lady called Li ) took good care of us - I would definitely recommend this hotel even if it is in need of a good refurbish in the lobby the views are spectacular and well worth the money"
