What I Wanted”
I was happy I chose the Sakal Bungalows. I live in Cambodia and am used to simple guesthouses and hotels but I didn't have experience in Sihanoukville and chose Sakal Bungalows online because it was close to the port. The public areas were nice and clean and the staff were generally very helpful and friendly. The room itself was not so different from other less expensive Cambodian rooms: very dark (2 15-watt lightbulbs!), loose toilet seat, broken door handle, no water provided. But it was quiet and I was able to work. I am not a foodie but the food was excellent. I couldn't believe how tasty and well prepared my two dinners were. The location is on the edge of Sihanoukville away from the main hustle and bustle and less well known. The motorcycle taxi had a difficult time finding Sakal Bungalows and we got there only because I had a phone and could call Sakal and ask the staff to tell the driver where to go. But it was a good stay and I'd go back again.

I booked the room at sakal bungalows for 2 nights, i am now ón my 6th Night here. The staff is very freindly and makes feal at home. Many of the other guests have been here before, one of Them had hes 10th anniversary this year! A jug of beer is only 67c.. The Beach is just across the street, and any other Beach is only 1-2$ for tuctuc. 17$ a Day for a room with Ac and cabel tv. If you need something you cant buy at the hotel, you Can find everything at the top of the Hill, only 4min walk. Or you Can ask the staff to buy it for you..

Usually booked well in advance. Sakal is unique: some bungalows, some rooms, great bar/restaurant with a seedy (in the good sense), tropical ambience. Pool non-functional when I was there. Good security. Great staff; had a problem with booking/payment (language!), but worked it out.

I was travelling with my Kmai friends,a Family cosisting of Husband and Wife, and 3 childern aged 8,5 and 3. Initially I had booked a room with Air con for myself and a bungalow for the Family. After checking in I visited the Family, and was surprised at the Bungalow. OK so it was only cheap per night, but I was embaressed my room was much nicer. So I approached, the Manager, a lovely Young Lady, the Daughter of the Owner. I was able to upgrade the Family to a air con room, and was not even charged a cleaning fee for the room they had already showered in. . Highly recommended

Nice place, poor conditioned room”
We booked a basic room with fan. It looked like nobody used it for a century. Everything is old and dusty. The hotel is near to Victory beach, which is 7-8km far from the center of Sihanoukville, so it is suitable for those who want a quiet and separated place. The food is ok, staff is friendly and helpful. A young girl even used her own cellphone to call motorbike taxi for us.

The Hotel is a little way up victory hill and only a short walk from beach ,which is pretty quiet and loaads of room to lay around .The hotel has a great little bar by the pool with cheap beer and food ,try the amok it was great .The rooms have small balcony air works good and alright beds,my room didnt have a hot shower but who cares after 30 sec in .If u want nightlife stay somewhere closer to the action .Bring some mosquito spray cheers

"Weird hotel in strange location"”
not a great welcome,internet down so couldnt confirm booking,given furthest room in 4 story building,everything in room worked but old and tired,balcony,good,guests all old men and all smokers,never saw female except working girls,Victory Hill little bars above hotel red light district.The 4 minute walk to beach is worth it,very clean and sea calmer than other beaches.The restaurant meals were good value and cheap large coffees.night storm cut power,tv. early hours t/v soccer game,angry complaints re noise,couldnt here final straw.any forward bookings or trips were hopeless from here.

We stayed first in the aircon room, room is old and not well meantained then we transfer to a bungalo for much cheaper and more private..u feel like its your own but as usualy its old and not well meantained but the stuff did there best for our best stay.

Overrated, overpriced, near the beach, far from center, basic but not a bungalow”
Wifi is good. Location is ...3 minutes walk to the beach, but almost like in an island, almost nothing around in a dark street that you need a pocket lamp to go for dinner (fortunately it's a few hundred meters up to the hill). Cost 5-7 usd tuktuk to come and to go to the center or other beaches (>7$). 3 ATMs but all out of order. Our double room is basic without shower gel, shampoo, sleepers, and of course no minibar too. Not quite clean but ok.

Get what you pay for”
Stayed 2 nights, room smelled really weird, a piece missing in the roof in the toilet so you could see up, a few times it smelled cigarette smoke in the bathroom. Cold shower and bad pressure. Room wasn't clean and sheets dirty. Pillows and bed were hard. Coudnt open the windows or the mosquito nets, no nets over beds. Pool is okay but dirty around. Wifi ok. Beach is close but really dirty. Location far from centrum. Wouldn't stay here again but since we paid around 17 USD for 2 nights it was okay. Nice staff and ok food.

Bad location”
Not really much going on in this area. Beach is much quieter than others though. Swimming pool was drained and looks like it hasn't been used in quite some time. Our room had openings that looked like they used to have windows, but the hotel just covered them up with cardboard. Honestly, there are a lot better places to stay than here.

Out of the way”
Staff lovely, room was fine - nothing flash but did the job. Was far away from the main hub of the town, cost about $7USD for a tuk tuk. Beach close by isn't suitable for swimming or relaxing.

Dirty room, Not as described, please avoid . ”
So the room was a run down bungalow, with many holes in the walls and floor, full of insects, there was bird crap on top of the mosquito nets so every time you sat on the bed it fall on you, there were brown stains on the sheets and everything smelt of mold. We asked for the room to be cleaned and the sheets changed but they only removed the bird crap. The toilet didn't flush and no water coming out of the tap.The pools was dirty and my first meal and a few bugs in it, they changed the meal but i just couldn't eat it. We did have much money as the room was 10 a night but we could only stay one night!

The bungalow was a sad place to be. The hotel area was nicer but we signed up for the bungalow. It rained that night and our roof leaked in many places.

With silkbag and moskito net, okey...”
The room we stayed in needs some maintenance. Toiletflush broken, bathroom door could't be closed, main door had holes and was hard to open. Room had plenty of moskitos, but with fan and moskito net was it possible to sleep. AC was good. Sheets realy dirty, we changed room when we arrived, sheets were dirty as well, so we dind't asked for a change of sheets. Pool is realy nice, has a biliardtable as well. Food was okey. Think this place is more for singles, looking out for something..

Scary”
It's far from everything, the room smelled of mould, as it hadn't been aired in months, I thought I'd catch something. Beds with bedbugs. It seems to host mainly mature men in the lookout for something. Not recommended if you are a lady travelling alone. I wont back.

worst guesthouse in cambodia”
Internet connection was not working, they said it was fixed as we did checkout but it wasn't. We booked room with hot water but it was also broken, staff unable to fix it so we went elsewhere. Location not very good. Room full of mosquitos and no net. In short worst guesthouse I've seen in Cambodia (visited so far about 12 of them). When I wanted some refund for these problems staff didn't want to understand english..
