I love this homestay! AnTi and his wife were welcoming and were kind enough to drive me to the nearest convenience store (5km away). He also provided me the foodie tips in Hualien. The homestay is nearly half hour away from Hualien but don't let it stop you. The Pacific Ocean view at your balcony is breathtaking. I'll definitely visit Hualien again and Sleep at Sea will be my first choice of accommodation.

Nice and easy stay, the staff was very friendly and responded right away to all my requests, even though we were not speaking the same language. Beware the phone number wasn't right and it needs to be updated. Also, the map on google is wrong, the place was much closer to the train station although no trouble from that, but it's best to go with a taxi who will speak chinese for you and asks the neighbor on how to find the place.

Okay so shortly : The stuff are adorable they did all of there power realy to insure a great stay for me they were very friendly and helpfull ( but the small problem was comunication if u dnt speak english u should be passient but eventhought they try all of there best to understand and even use google translate .the location is a bit far from the city but i loved it cz i was seaking relaxation on a calm place in the nature the hotel is located just i. Front of the sea and behind there s the mountains very very relaxing , to take the bus u need to walk a little but it s cool cz the view is nice . The room was very clean and comfortable . The breakfast is okay , so personaly i enjoyed my stay so much it was very nice and the stuff were helfull the responsable promised me that she s gona take some english lessons to improve the service , The owner was very nice he went the second day and borowed a bike for me from his neighbor eventhought it was not in there service and i didnt pay a penny :) And they let me cook at night in the kitchen cz i was very hungry :) and it was 11 pm I would recommed this hotel for the people seaking relaxation nature and calm nice places

The service was incredibly friendly with the owner’s parents even being kind enough to drop us back in Hualien (30 mins away) right at the train station for our onward journey. The free bikes (we are not experienced cyclists so this was not difficult but you could push yourself and go further) meant we could easily get around without our own transport with an incredible daytrip to waterfalls and swimming holes with river tracing possible too. Plus the lake right outside the front door. Great restaurants just to the right of Lakeside 46 (try the first one with outdoor seating). The owner’s brother is an amazing cook and used to run a steakhouse in Taipei. He cooked us lunch and we also had then had a great steak and pasta dinner back at his house listening to all of our combined favourite songs!

The homestay is located faraway from the train station / city, about 25min drive but near to the theme park. Seafacing the Pacific Ocean. Breezy! No activities nearby. Only 2 restaurants (walking distance). Overall, the room was clean and spacious, still very new. I would suggest the lady (hometaker) has to be more friendly and make initiative to suggest and brief visitors about the surroundings. She is just too shy off. Cant get any information from her if needed. Muxia can improve on the gardening.

The best part of Green Villa is the people. Bryan, the minsu owner, was approachable and helpful. Right from the start when we corresponded over the email, he offered many good advices that are helpful to our first self-guided tour in Taiwan. Despite that we arrived much earlier than scheduled, he was flexible enough to fetch us from airport and stopped by a delicious dumpling stall for us to get our lunch. The villa location is far away from city central, but Bryan is always able to get a taxi on standby for us to go to the city. The city has little to offer and with taxi service within reach, the distance does not seem to matter. Our guide, Mr Lin, was the other person that made a positive impact to our experience. He was sensitive to our needs and always sought our opinions to decide if we should stay longer or move to the next sight so that we maximize our experience to the max. He brought us to several sights and stopped by an eatery which offered beautiful mountain sights for lunch. While Mr Lin is not a full time tour guide, he grew up in Hualien, so he shared stories about the sights and how the current state compared to his childhood days. To engage Mr Lin’s service, travellers have to book thru’ Bryan. At the end of our stay, we received a CD rom of pictures that Bryan and Mr Lin took for us during our short 2 days stay at Hualien. The CD rom was the best souvenir I had gotten from the Taiwan trip. The Green Villa daily rate is reasonable and the room we stayed in has a nice mountain view especially in the early morning. The taxi charge to and fro city (TWN 300/trip) seems expensive relative to the rates we pay, however Bryan is usually kind to offer free rides whenever he drives out to run errands.

Stayed here for 3 nights with a party of 8. Rooms were spacious even though the property was a bit dated. Entire place was clean and the premises enforced a "no-shoes-indoors" policy. There is a dining hall adjacent where you can have breakfast or eat your take-away dinner that you brought back. Staff at the premises were excellent, polite and always pleasant. Made a lot of helpful suggestions and attempted to get to know everyone. They arranged a BBQ on our first night there in the open. It was a windy night so the staff arranged the BBQ on the porch instead of waterfront so we didnt have to cancel the BBQ. We booked a car and driver to bring us around Hualien and the driver coordinated everything with the property. Highly recommended.

We booked this after seeing the very good reviews it has on tripadvisor. When we arrived, this minsu (homestay) deserves every bit of its raving ratings. The rooms are comfortable and big, it overlooks the Pacific Ocean and it has a balcony which you can sit to watch sunrise. The place is run by a young couple and their mother/in-law when they started 2 years ago, so you can be sure that the amenities are new. The breakfast was brilliant, attentively prepared by them. They aren't fascinating but every bite of it tasted their effort to give their guests the best that they could. It was super tasty too. I then found out that it's (almost completely) organic, so you can have a taste of the LOHAS lifestyle that the Taiwanese advocate. What added the extra touch was how attentive they were to every detail, from receiving us at the door when we come back after a day of fun to making sure sternly that we got a train ticket back to taipei on a busy weekend. They even called the cab the next day to find a 7-11 so we can retrieve the tickets in time for the ride. The warmth they exude is incredible. Despite not staying near city centre, this stay is one of the best I've ever had - worth the extra travel from the train station. You can settle your meals at 055 seafood restaurant, 5 min walk away. The lobsters are super fresh and inexpensive. Give them a call before you arrive and they will give you a number to call for a cab - it's cheaper to book through them than to flag for one. If this is unavailable, there are also other minsu along the Yanliao road which looked pretty nice and closely to the ocean.

Pros -Family run hotel with magnificent view of the ocean and sunrise. Great hospitality. Very kind host who prepared breakfast very early morning when I told her I needed to go for my hike. She even packed enough food and water for me to bring along. The sound of waves very relaxing and a great change from vehicle honks in busy Taipei city. Recommended place for those you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city and to relish & relax in a Mother Earth natural environment. Cons- far from the main city & weak wifi. If you are not fussy with food, there are family owned seafood restaurants across the road. Weak wifi means no work so this hotel is best for relaxation.

It was an awesome experience. It has been a while since I stayed here, but I still feel the warmth from the staff, and place. The male staff was very accommodating, and welcomed us. He offered us rides every now and then, and was glad to plan our trips. Thank you! The location is superbly good. The view is awesome. I cannot bring to words how great this place is. You can feel the ocean breeze, and view the ocean in the morning, stargaze and night, meditate in the setting sun, or just stare out into the clouds. It was definitely the most unique experience I've ever had. For anyone who's looking to calm your mind, and seek your soul. This is definitely the place. LOVE IT

The assistant caretaker took really good care of us. As it was hard to get down the mountain, she took an initiative to prepare some home cooked dishes for us. We felt like home during our stay. She even recommended a few tourist destination and pineapple cake shop which turn out to be fabulous. One thing to note is you need to prepare own transport to get there. The route up the resort is very narrow and long. Advised to get food and snacks before heading up.
