Overall we had a good stay. Hotel romms are very clean and service is good. Wild Orchid is one of the better albeit somewhat more expensive hotels in Bario Baretto (Subic). For me the availability of internet is important and both cable and wifi are available ( I only used the wifi in the restaurant area so not sure how the signal strength is in the room where I used cable connection). Nice open-air restaurant with great views of Subic Bay. Huge swimming pool. 5 minute walk to the main highway, plenty of trikes hanging around outside so if you dont want to walk use one(only 25 pesos per ride). The daily shuttle bus to Angeles City commences from Wild Orchid so thats convenient but need to reserve a seat at least a day in advance as its gets full quickly. Its far better to use this than getting a bus from Olongopo City since it takes the expressway and in any case it eliminates having to make the extra journey ( and extra cost) getting to Olongapo.

So having stayed in Subic Bay several times over the past few years and trying several different hotels in the process, I had resigned myself to accepting that Subic Bay simply did not have anything of quality in the hotel department. The Mangrove Resort is a true exception, it is brand new and extremely nice, beds, linen an pillows are exquisite as are the ocean views and swimming pool. Just a short stroll to beach side eateries and nightlife makes the location also perfect. Already booked again for 8 nights in April, if you looking for quality, this is the place! , highly recommended!!

the park area around the hotel is probably one of the largest in subic bay. but the hotel seems to count to the oldest ones in subic bay. many of the facilities are closed for renovation. and when we were there, there were not many other guests, the hotel made a bit a deserted impression. the area outside of the hotel seems to have a bad reputation among the locals (they say it is a drug trafficing area). but i have not noticed anything of that. the staff at the reception and at the restaurant is nice and friendly. at the beach, the staff is a bit less attentive. the hotel does not have a dive base, but they are affiliated with one at johan's, only a 10min drive away with a tricycle. at night you might hear a muezzin calling, as there is a muslim community next to the hotel. however, it is not disturbingly loud and not a problem. there is a beachvolleyball net right on the beach. the net is at the right height and in good shape. only the court lines are missing to be absolutely perfect. i could imagine going back again in the future. however, i would try some of the newer hotels in the area first, where hopefully not everything is closed for maintenance.

Our family had a wonderful time at Blue Rock Resort. Of all the beach resorts that I've been to in Subic, I think this is the one that I'll be back to. For the very reasonable price that I paid, I already got a Beachfront and spacious room with the basic necessities. Considering the price that I got in Agoda, it is really worth the 3.5hr travel. :) The beach is good, it is not crowded, and the sand is better than the other Subic resorts that I've been to. (Always manage your expectations that the sand in Subic is not as fine and white as those in Nasugbu or Boracay, but I'm totally cool with it because the water is clear :) I guess we had the right timing because it was not a weekend, and it was a day before the holidays so the beach was not crowded and dirty as what I've read in some comments. My daughter also enjoyed the pool so much. Parking space was ample too :) The food was so okay. The price is fairly reasonable again considering it's a beachfront resort, but if you're on a budget, you may want to go out of the street to find some cheap restos. For us, we tried eating out once but for the rest of the time, we ate at their restaurant because we just want to relax and enjoy our vacation. Oh and by the way, on our way home, we tried Korean and Filipino buffet at Gangnam Buffet at Harbour Point, about 20mins I guess from the resort, and it was okay for the price of Php330/head. Overall, I am very satisfied with my stay at Blue Rock. My family and I will stay here again if we plan to go to Subic.

it was my first time in Subic Bay and I was lucky enough to have booked a week at the Pub Hotel ... the modern rooms are large, the linen and towels are new, the air-con and hot water work well, there is flat screen tv with heaps of cable channels and a bar fridge and jug in the room ... there is a hot and cold filtered water machine in the corridor ... the Pub Hotel is centrally located in the bar and restaurant area ... but best of all are the staff ... the reception staff are friendly and very helpfull (thank you Mel for all your help), the house cleaning staff do a very good job and the maintenance guy (appropriately nick-named Smiley) was helpfull ... the manager was responsive to feedback ... overall the hotel and staff really made my stay in Barretto a great experience ... thank you very much

Me and my boyfriend has stayed overnight at icove just as a break as i was in town from london. we had booked it in advance because we knew we just wanted to get away somewhere to relax and spend quality time together. Icove is situated in such an easy place to locate. We used google maps to get to the beach hotel from subic freeport. It is the easiest drive as well as close to place such as harbour point mall and places to have dinner. The staff upon arrival were amazing, they were very pleasent and had made sure that we were okay. When getting into the room we had reaslised that it was very good. the room was better than expected. It also had a tiny balcony out front The breakfast in the morning was very nice and the staff again would greet you good morning. Me and my boyfriend believe that this hotel deserves more than 3 stars. we would also definatley return back to this hotel as we think it was such a simple and nice get away.

I always read reviews before I book a hotel in unfamiliar places and there are a few bad reviews of this property. Those guests must have visited on a bad day because I am a pretty critical guy and I cannot come up with anything negative to say except for the lizard on the wall in the hallway, but I thought that was kinda cool. This area of Subic is not 5 star country so if you are looking for the Hilton or The Ritz you should probably head back up to Manila. The Hotels in this area are on a gravel road off the main strip. Treasure Island had clean and comfortable rooms with all the necessities such as fridge, air, fan and coffee maker. I had a very comfortable bed and the room was ample size. There was a door that went out to a shared balcony with a view of the bay. The staffs were awesome; they were always polite and accommodating. I sat at the bar with the manager, Joel, a couple mornings and he offered great information about the area and other places with good food etc.. The food at Treasure Island was impressive, we ate there a couple times and was not disappointed with the price and quality. The pool was nice and next door at another hotel there was a diving school and Jet Ski rental. Overall I have to give this hotel 8 out of 10. I would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay again if I was in the Subic Bay area.

Highly recommend it. Staff friendly, location great and every morning you go downstairs and have breakfast with the sea 10 mts away from you. Value for money good also. Only downside i have to say is there's no swimming pool but with so many other resorts nearby (who charge you a lot more) who do have a pool, a pool rental for the day is cheap if you feel like going in for a dip. (Theres literally one resort next door with a pool) On the last day we had no idea on how to get to Angeles, the owner of the resort personally arranged a bus service for us. Unfortunately it wasn't running that day and then he went out of his way to find another guy also wanting to go - we organised a car and we all split the costs for a very resonable cost. If i do go back to Subic bay, i'd stay there again.

I really liked this hotel and fellow travellers I met at the bar or over breakfast tended to agree. It is very relaxing with contemplative views out over Subic Bay and towards the surrounding hills. The cooling breezes and sound of the adjacent water lead to a sense of relaxation. Hotel is handy to beach and other attractions of the area. Three points for improvement, however: (1) Wifi is free, but often crashes, although management tell me they are about to update their system. (2) Air con units are the old style rattling type and spill their warm air and noise out on the wide panoramic deck, which otherwise are wonderful to sit and relax on. (3) TVs are old box type - flat screens would greatly enhance the rooms.

I've been a loyal customer for many years. Nice, clean rooms, great food, wide open spaces with great views of Subic Bay, good location-just a few minutes walk to popular restaurants in town,and a few minutes drive to the freeport zone where most tourist attractions are located, courteous and friendly staff. Nice for the resort to add a swimming pool. Still the place to stay when in Subic!

Driving up to the grand entrance that evening took my breath away! It was sunset on a hilly, curvy road like driving in Monaco,then to pull up to an opulent grand entrance where staff welcomed, greeted and took my bags made me feel like I was in another time and place (which I was, being from Michigan USA):) The ceiling & walls of the lobby were elegantly painted, the spiraling grand staircases, flower arrangements, birds flying & singing in the open-air vestibule heightened all my senses. As I was checked in personally, quickly & in English, my room was being readied for my first impression. WOW!! Opulent, grandiose, more than I could have anticipated. I booked here based on the pictures & price I found on Agoda. I didn't read reviews til after booking my first night, & almost cancelled, losing my money. But I decided I could endure anything for one night. I am so glad I stayed, because I extended my stay several extra nights. Perhaps the poor reviews were because Club Morocco is about a 1/2 hour ride from shopping & activity, but I love the quiet, removed atmosphere. Other negative comments referred to the untidy beach. True, litter washes up daily from the current but not from guests, staff or the few residents in the area. Because Club Morocco is at the end of the bay, currents wash trash from many other areas. Housekeeping staff were continuously cleaning, polishing & repairing. I found every area to be well maintained. Then there is the splendid staff. Each spoke good English, was attentive, personable,& personal, "bending over backwards" to be certain I was comfortable. Over my 4 day stay, we truly became friends, even becoming Facebook friends. I have been back in the states for two weeks,& we've kept in touch. The restaurant was remarkable with freshly prepared food at a great value. I have never been disappointed with Agoda's selection of lodgings for any type traveler, price range, activity preference

Best hotel out of the 5 different hotels I stayed at on my 2 week Luzon tour. Very quiet and peaceful grounds and rooms. Perfectly manicured grounds and very clean common areas. Beachfront in the very center of Barrio Barretto. Staff speaks English well as well as passable Japanese. Although marketed mainly to Japanese, about half the guests were non Asians. I felt at home and welcome. Best food I had on my trip. Authentic Japanese food at reasonable prices. Guest friendly. I will book again.

This was my second stay here and enjoyed it once again It has a great pool and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Close to the beach and ,any other activities but far enough to be quiet and private. I am happy to recommend this hotel to everyone. It is not the most plush or flashy but it is certainly the best value and gives a better service than the price would indicate. So if you want good value with comfortable lodgings then this is an excellent choice.

The resort is good for value for money. It is walk able distance from main road because resort is interior from the main road from Olangapo.Regarding tariff it is value for money. Location is good from Balcony you can watch the subic bay. Private swimming pool is also good but more cleanliness is required. Regarding staff, they are very co-operative and polite. After taking dinner, I was going towards my room situated at first floor, all of a sudden some insects bite me on left ankle and I fell down. Immediately receptionist has seen in CCTV and ran away and they lift me and kept in my room. Next day morning, they have called the taxi and take away to the hospital. After that they came to leave me in their own private car to victory liner bus terminal and requested to the conductor of the bus to take care of me as I could not walk a single step. They treat me like a family member and even they have not charge me for taxi to go to Victory bus liner terminal. I like to suggest one thing that they have done one thing wrong. They have kept bathroom at 15" height above the room level, which should be lower 3 to 4 inch from the room level. There is no WIFI, TV AND INTERCOM facility in Air condition room. I recommend this resort just for leisure and who wish very peaceful stay away from noisy city area.

Personnel assisted us as soon as we arrived at the place. Dennis, in particular, was helpful about the place and how we could maximize our enjoyment during stay. We booked first floor VIP beachfront with reasonable price for 4 people, nothing more special than having adequate space room with good working AC and flat screen TV. Toiletries not that complete but they would provide fresh towel daily upon request. They offer plenty of choices on the menu, and those we ordered tasted good; we have not tried other restaurant nearby. Plenty of resto around, though. The place could have been rated more than Very Good if they can improve wifi connection, enhancing staff performance especially attentiveness to the needs of guests, and if there is better room housekeeping (am really particular to cleanliness). There were instances that we need to ask for cleaning the table before serving the food at the balcony (actually twice) but overall, the employees were kind enough to assist us.

this place is very nice, the rooms are pretty dated and need an upgrade but you have everything you need and the aircon worked well, cable tv good too, the austrailian owners are very nice and friendly people, if you go out the front door you can do all the things in subic i guess people go there for or if you go out the back door you find the really nice little cafe, very peaceful, great food, nobody gives you any hassel, the wifi is fantastic, right on the beach too, for me this part was the best feature about the hotel, there is also a swimming pool, it can be a little noisy at night but then i guess the whole of subic gets a little noisy at night time, goood budget option, worth staying just for the wifi it was brilliant

This is very reasonably priced hotel.Clean and nice rooms plus we discovered that their foods are great especially their spicy chicken wings which is the best seller in the menu according to them.However the foods are delivered in the room since they dont have a restaurant in the lobby but they have a beach near by the hotel which their sister company and have a free access on their beach and cabana once you are a guest there so you can just eat your lunch or dinner in their beach area where they have a mini restaurant.Overall I'm satisfied and this place is worth every penny.

Stayed here one night and checked in pretty late. The front desk staff didn't believe I had a reservation even when I was showing them the confirmation on my phone and were pretty mad that they had to turn on the computer and confirm my Agoda booking. The location is good and the day staff seemed a lot friendlier than the night staff. The room was clean but I would stay somewhere else next time.

It is difficult maneuvering down the narrow alley. If you have a van, you can barely squeeze through. We had two rooms, one for my husband and myself and one for our teenage son. They put us far apart from each other. My husband and I had a larger room on the 2nd floor of the main building while our son was on the 1st floor by the entrance. The doors do not have dead bolts and could easily be broken into so we worried about our son's safety. They charge you P100 to park in their 2-car carport which was full when we got there so we had to park perpendicular to the other 2 vehicles already parked there. There was no water until the middle of the night so buckets of water had to be toted to the rooms for bathing. The air conditioners were too small and never cooled the rooms off. The refrigerator stopped working in the middle of the night so all of our beverages got warm. In the morning, it started to work again. The lady running the place tried her best to make our stay nice but we won't be returning.

I can't reccomend stay in Subic bay area to anyone. Subic bay is polluted because there is a huge harbor. Beach in neigbouring Club Morocco is just a bad joke full of waste. If you want to swim you have only two options - we had only the one actually, because pool which should be for free in neighbouring villa had a rotten stinky water - it had completely green colour because no one treat it at all, so we had to go Club Morocco's pool and pay entrance fee and you have to pay for pool towels also... Another really bad experience we had there was with Rob's Rental company in which we were lead to - it is probably most miserable rental company in whole Asia with unreliable motorcycles - just wasting time and money because of several failures, for example we had to return in jeepny from other city because motorcycle just was not able to start engine.... Be warned!

Dabar was my 3rd accommodation in Subic but by far the best. Whilst abit hard to find as the sign out the front was covered by another sign, it was a very comfortable stay. The location is on the main strip and close to all the bars and to the beach. The internet worked very well and so did the AC. Very quiet and cool and the room and bed was very comfortable. Darren the owner and Jim the receptionist are both friendly and hospitable. The food in the restaurant is really great quality and not overpriced like many others in Subic. There is also a great rooftop bar and big jacuzzi on the top floor. Will stay at Dabar next time I visit Subic. Recommended!
