Good hostel with very friendly staff, buffet breakfast, bar, pool table, chill room, guitar. They even take your bike inside during the night. Location great. But the wifi was terrible and there was a horrible smell in the hallways coming from the bathrooms. It got into the dorms when somebody left the door open. I smelled it even though my sense of smell is really much dead. Otherwise, great hostel.

As a hostel, this place is probably just fine. But paying extra for this private room isn’t such a good deal. The quality-price ratio is disappointing. Thought clean, the facilities in the room could use some freshening up. The shower area stinked of sewage. Moreover the staff is rather cold and unhelpful. Upon written request, the manager had agreed to serve us breakfast at 6:30 because we needed to leave early (breakfast normally stars at 7:30 which is a bit late compared to other establishments), but the staff was barely waking up when we came down. At 6:45 still nothing was ready. We left without even a cup of coffee...

Goes the extra mile to make people feel comfortable and welcomed! 24 hr desk and speedy check in and check out. Great pool table and bar. Beds are comfy and clean. Shower and bathroom facilities are clean.

I booked private room which was clean and spacious with big bathroom and modern interior. Great for the price and staff was friendly and helpful.

Good hostel ”
The hostel itself is nice but when we areived they had to change the bedsheets because they had been full of hair. I am not sure if it was from the previous customer or the dogs which are in the kitchen where they fold the blankets on the floor 😅 The smell in the common bathroom and our private bathroom was disgusting so please check that if the hostel reads this review. Besides that we would definitely recommend going there. The staff is really nice and there is a free pool table.

Newly built hostel with nice modern rooms. The place could be a tad bit cleaner in general, but overall we enjoyed our stay and would probably stay again. Good AC in the rooms!

It had a few large common areas. The other travelers were friendly and so was the staff but there just weren't many people since its the low season. It was ok.

Okay for a night before you go on the Bolaven Loop”
Check-in was a bit weird. We had booked the six-bed dorm with a/c but when we arrived they said they'd give us an upgrade to the four-bed-dorm, because it was so hot and the other one didn't have a/c after all. At first they wouldn't let us extend our stay for the same price, claiming the four-bed-dorm was more expensive. The door to the dorm wouldn't lock properly and when we mentioned this they were acting very surprised, saying they would have a look at it. After returning from the loop nothing had changed, though. The bathrooms were one level down and felt a bit clammy, but were clean. All in all it was an okay stay, but the hostel could be so much better if some details were improved.

We really enjoyed our stay at You Empire Hostel. We had the private room which was very nice and clean, with a private bathroom and balcony. We were there during the Lao new year which allowed us to party and discuss with the staff which were very friendly. Nice common areas too. Only inconvenience would be that the night market was right in front of our room, and the music is pretty loud - but stops around 11pm so nothing too bad.
