A tranquil haven in busy Beijing”
I stayed with my husband for 3 nights in this beautiful hotel. The hotel looks great and modern with many art pieces in the lobby. The check in went quite smooth but you have to be a bit patient. The rooms are just amazing and look exactly like the pics on their website! The many wood elements give it a very pieceful appearance. The shower and bath with the very nice smelling amenities are really good! The complimentary mini bar is well stocked and you can ask for eg. additional water if you require it (don't call room service for this as you will be charged in that case, but press the "how can i help" button on the phone.) The hotel has some nice quirky touches like given you some nice post cards for you to send home with a postit on it with a funny text. We also received facial masks with again a quirky postit, which was actually very useful to get the dirt of beijing of your skin and came at the right just as I was filling up a nice hot bath. The majority of the staff speaks English quite well with the exception of the cleaners. We had one funny situation with one of the guys at the door who was directing us somewhere and while pointing to the right told us to go left. Obviously we followed his body language and made it to our goal. The area of the hotel is really modern with great shopping venues (both international and more local brands) and nice bars and restaurants. Avoid the bars on Sanlitun road as they looked like proper tourist traps. The bars/restaurants in the shopping area are much more upscale and good. For a good Japanese try Hatsune: very nice! The Mediterranean restaurant downstairs in the hotel is pretty good although a bit pricey. To summarize: The hotel is in a great location to visit all the major sights in Beijing and when you come back you can truly relax in your room! Definitely value for money!

Great hotel”
The opposite house was our last hotel after 2 weeks travelling in China. It is very friendly, informal, and modern hotel and we enjoyed it immensely. The location is also great: the area is safe, there is a night food street nearby and the choice of bars around the hotel is vast. Moreover, there are several underground stations located within 10 minutes walk from the hotel and the stuff is always happy to get you a taxi which makes sightseeing very easy. The staff is very attentive and not invasive (which is very difficult to achieve): our room was cleaned while we were at breakfast and our beds were prepared for the night while we were having a cigarette outside, but we had never seen the cleaning staff by our room! Overall, the stay was a great experience. The only issue that marred our stay was the dinner on our first night. Whereas the food was great (we had dinner at the new Chinese restaurant in the hotel) and the advice on food/wine and the time of delivery was impeccable, the waiters should pay more attention to the way they treat their female customers. I didn't like the fact that the my wine/water glass was refilled only if my husband's one was empty, and I was offended by the statement of the waitress that she has to check whether I have the credit rights for the room charges after I signed the bill for the dinner (the irony of the situation being that the hotel was booked on my name, but she didn't doubt my husband's right to sign the bill). However, this was a one off experience -- the waiters in the breakfast restaurant were superb. I would definitely recommend this hotel for relaxed and comfortable stay while exploring Beijing.

Crazy good and easy”
The Opposite House From the pick up to checkout was anything crazy good and easy. The team at The Opposide House managed anything very well and all personal whishes get true. The support was very very good! They arranged a crazy trip to the great wall for us with candle lights, tablecloth, glasses and champagne, picnic box and lovely guide Victoria, dining reservations shopping tips and trips in Beijing. And then their follow-thru = great! The Hotel is modern and easy! Anything is designed! The rooms are comfortable and modern and have a lot of space. *** Thank you for the upgrade! This will be our go to hotel to a trip to Beijing. Thanks for the great time!

Best hotel in China!”
The Opposite House Hotel is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The rooms were incredibly beautiful, light and spacious. The artwork in the lobby was inspiring. We can't thank the staff enough for their service. They were incredibly helpful, kind and courteous and would provide you with anything you needed. The bathtubs in the room were amazing - just what you needed after a day walking around in freezing Beijing. The pool is beautiful - we used it almost every day! The cafe downstairs provided excellent food. Overall, a fabulous stay and would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful”
Centrally located in the exciting Sanlitun area, this has to be the most hip hotel in Beijing. It's beautifully remodeled, with minimalist Japanese Zen-like structure, wooden spa floor & bath tub, see through bath, high ceilings, and modern equipment. Loved the welcome gift of a mask and hand-written note, and also the reception area where the young staff comes to greet you with a laptop ready to check you in as you sip your welcome drink. Together with the trendy restaurant and bar downstairs, it makes it a very sexy stay. Great for a 'stay-cation', staying in Beijing for a weekend.

Fabulous hotel in exellent location”
The Opposite House is unique in so many ways! For starters, the locations is right in the middle of SanLiTun Street, surrounded by restaurants, shops, and the bars of Beijing's night life. Great design in the heart of Sanlitun”
I had a great stay in the Opposite House. The hotel is very different -- no front desk staff, no front desk (!), cool architecture and rooms that all face a huge interior hall (although you wouldn't know it just by walking in). The design and décor is modern, the staff is friendly and unobtrusive, and the location is great. It's an expensive hotel, by Beijing standards, but if you can afford it, a great place to stay!

Beautifully designed hotel, very convenient”
The hotel is located in the Sanlitun area, a popular and trendy commercial area in Beijing. The lobby showcases rotating artwork from upcoming artists, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was very spacious and well-designed. I love the use of wood and the detailing of the space, and felt very much at home. The basement level has restaurants that are highly recommended. The rates are a bit pricey, but it's great for people looking for a convenient hotel after a night out or travelers who appreciate design.

Outstanding!”
Great service, great location, really nice rooms and public spaces in the hotel. It is adjacent to the best modern shopping in Beijing and it close to the major tourist attractions in Beijing (about ten minutes by taxi). We will be recommending the Opposite House to all of our friends.

Great design hotel”
I'm a big fan of Opposite House (and its Swire Hotels sister in Hong Kong, Upper House) for high-style design with great service, which is not always easy to find in Beijing. For business travel Sanlitun is not the most convenient, but if you are in town for fun this is the place to go. Big loft-like rooms with wood floors and big soaking tubs are a plus.

A design oasis in a chaotic city”
we loved staying at this hotel, not only for the gorgeous design but the unique artwork, fine materials and attention to detail. loved the complimentary mini-bar that was restocked each day. and the luxurious bayankala soaps and shampoos. the lobby bar was sexy and would have spent more time there if we didn't have the kids. you don't very often see hardwood floors in a hotel room but was a welcome change as carpets get disgusting in heavily polluted cities such as beijing. now i'll have to try the upper house in hong kong to compare!

Great location”
It was generally a enjoyable experience to stay at THE OPPOSITE HOUSE HOTEL. The location was really convenient and accessible as it is in the middle of Sanlitun mall and you can find restaurants and bars just across the road. The hotel staff can all speak fair English and they gave great recommendations on food. I was amazed by the in-room design and facilities especially for the panel that controls all audio and video system, and the lighting system controlled by one button.

a very cool hotel in a good location”
I wanted to stay in a cool boutique hotel in Sanlitun and this place did the job perfectly. The studio 45 was very comfortable - I really enjoyed the wooden bath - and the Mediterranean restaurant was very nice too. 'Mesh' bar was also a good place for a Saturday night drink - a very hip mixed crowd! My only (small) complaint is that the sound-proofiing isn't great, so you can hear some late night noise from the nearby bar street.

A beautifully designed hotel helped us have the relaxed stay we'd hoped for.”
The Opposite house is a fantastic hotel and somewhere we'd love to stay again. The rooms were beautifully minimal but still maintained a comforting edge. The wooden bathroom features and subtle lighting really added to the comfy yet stylish feel. Staff were great and happy to help. Facilities were good too. Only minor gripe was the lack of power outlets by the bed. Always baffles me when there isn't.

Lovely hotel and service is excellent”
I loved almost everything about this hotel. it is located in the heart of sanlitun where you can club, dine, shop and chill. Room is extremely hip and clean, i personally loved it very much. nice bath inside the room and only 5-10 mins walk from the subway station. service is superb and food inside the hotel is fantastic too. I cant really find any cons of this hotel. probably one of the finest boutique hotels in BJ.

Great hotel, very big rooms”
really enjoyed the stay at opposite house--top spot, amenities and delicious breakfasts. i personally don't like the open plan bathroom but this is a small thing in an otherwise great hotel. the no-charge mini bar is a nice touch too.

Modern Hotel Neat Design”
It was my first time staying at Opposite House though I have heard it for long time. The location of it was excellent. Super good for shopaholic and food maniac like me. The room was spacious with cool, simple design. The only 2 things that I didn't like was the tap water was not hot enough for having shower in Winter time, and the wood inside the shower room was getting old.
