The reception staff provided a disappointing experience. She was not welcoming, and I sensed discrimination in her behavior. Before my turn, she was friendly to the foreign guests ahead of me in line, but when it was my turn, her demeanor changed noticeably. I asked about the purpose of the ₱1,000 deposit, as the only information provided on paper stated that a deposit was required without explaining why. Instead of offering a proper explanation, she simply told me to read the paper, which felt dismissive and unhelpful. This policy should be clearly stated on the booking page at Trivago, mentioning the deposit requirement upon check-in. Despite this issue, I commend the hotel for its cleanliness and affordability. The room had the quality of a three- to four-star hotel, and the internet speed was excellent. However, the parking situation was inconvenient—requiring cars in front to move before others could leave. A disclaimer about this should also be included on the hotel's booking page. Additionally, I disliked the placement of the trash bin in the parking area. Whenever I opened my window to check the side mirror while parking, the strong smell from the bin was overwhelming, making it an unpleasant experience. Aside from these concerns, the rest of the staff was courteous and accommodating.
Near the coastline of Balero, you can reach the Victory Liner bus terminal in Olongapo by bus for 50 pesos or by blue jeepney for 18 pesos. The hotel faces the road along the sea. The first floor has a coffee and restaurant, so you can have meals without getting wet on rainy days. On the Agoda app, you can add meals for an additional 500 pesos, but there are more reasonably priced hotel restaurants nearby, so I recommend checking those out. Next door on the left, there is a grocery store where you can buy cheap bottled beer and chill it in the refrigerator, which was great. The cleaning staff were kind, and the other staff members were always smiling, which was wonderful. The front desk is open 24 hours, which is very helpful. There are many shortcuts to the beach, so it might be good to explore those. Check-in is after 2 PM, so it's recommended to arrive leisurely. Even if you arrive early, they can hold your luggage. If you book through an app other than Agoda, please note that a local tax of 100 pesos per night will be charged on-site.
A quaint hotel at the road along the cubic bay. The rooms are roomy, quiet aircon, good bed/mattress. Equipped with watercooker, multiple outlets next to the bed (kudos!) and mini (empty) fridge. Bathroom is clean, has all one needs and shower is powerful and warm. One note. There is no elevator and no rooms as far as I know on first floor. There is a restaurant attached, but we didn’t use that. There are multiple choices of foods close-by. Check in/out was easy and quick. There is a garage for limited cars but I think they may have other solutions when full. The location is along the main road. If you want direct access/view to the beach, a pool, terraces, you need to look to other places. For the basics this hotel is very recommended also in view of the price.
My family and I chose The Pub Hotel in Bario Barreto, Olongapo, as our base for our New Year countdown celebration at the Whiterock Beach Hotel & Waterpark, and it was the perfect choice! The hotel offers fantastic value for money, with clean and comfortable rooms that made our stay very relaxing. The location is unbeatable—it was a great starting point for all the exciting activities we had planned. From here, we easily visited Inflatable Island PH, the thrilling Zoobic Safari, and the adventurous Adventure Waterpark. After our fun-filled days, it was always a pleasure to return to the hotel, where the friendly and accommodating staff made us feel right at home. If you're looking for a budget-friendly, well-located, and clean hotel to stay in while exploring Olongapo’s attractions, I highly recommend The Pub Hotel. It made our New Year celebration truly memorable, and we’ll definitely stay here again on our next visit!

Had our stay in Room 8, Standard room. All the listed room facilities were actually included. Not so big room if you have kids with you, but since kids 0-12 yo are free of charge, it still above average. Good sleeping capacity is 2 adults and 1 petite child. They have TV with many cable channels, mini ref which works so well. Cabinets and hangers. Aircon is good! Malamig. They also have ceiling fan which we don't use since aircon alone is chilling. Every floor has water dispenser, you can get free drinking water. They provided 3 towels, shampoo at soap. CR is clean with bidet. Water heater is working. Hotel location is near bars which based from other comment makes noise during 2am. But we don't experience the noise, maybe because we went there during weekdays. They have parking but limited. Parking has access to emergency exit which is accessible from our room. The 2 receptionists, the one from the day we checked-in and the other one when we were checking out were polite and not snobbish. However, some staff were. I encountered a few staffs early morning since they were cleaning and changing beddings, I smiled and greeted them but none of them responded. 🤣 Don't forget to bring cash because you need to desposit 1k upon checking in, but will return it to you upon checking the room. Smooth transaction overall. Thanks
