Excellent”
This hotel is a good surprise to me. The staff is very friendly and the room is super clean and fully equipped. They provide snack bar for free. Location is good, a 15min walk to Sanlitun. I would love to return when I visit Beijing next time.

Excellent”
Just be prepared that the bed is on the floor, and there is no chair. Sit on a cushion on the floor. This is nothing bad, but not good for everybody. Equipment was all new, clean, in winter the heating very good. No breakfast, but 100m down the road you can pay 58 RMB for a big buffet, fresh coffee. I was there repeatedly.

Good price in this area, some (or all?) rooms speacial Korean style”
This hotel is in the embassy and near Sanlitun Area, and it has a good price. The room I had was like Korean restaurant, where you sit on th floor - I don't know if all rooms are like this. No bed, no chair, no table, better: low table. For me no problem, it was ok. Some people may not handle this. Just need to know before. I was there in winter, it was very very warm. Clean. Friendly staff. No breakfast, but you can have this 150m down the street in Holiday Inn for 38 RMB, or elsewhere. I will go there again, if I am in this area.

"Nice hotel and comfortable location"”
Red Hotel is a nice, comfortable place for staying in Beijing. the price is fine too. the staff is pretty friendly and will help you if you have any questions. The room was surprisingly clean and equipped and if you need anything else you can always ask for it (like iron or kettle). Also you can use internet their... but it's a little bit slow in the evening....

A lazy weekend in Beijing”
The location is very convenient: Less than 10 min by foot to Dongzhimen, Sanlitun Beer Street and Workers' Stadium. Restaurants and convenience stores in the neighbourhood. The hotel itself runs a cafe/bar which has cake, snacks and simple dishes on its menue. The hotel's interior is nicely designed. Here and there, some of the laminate looks a little bit shopworn - but so what? It's clean; the staff is friendly; and in your room you have plenty of storage (two wardrobes and a luggage rack).

Ok hotel for good price ”
The location of the hotel is the best thing about it. It is a reasonable walk from the Dongzhimen subway station. This makes it very convenient to the airport. The Dongzhimen subway station is also very convenient for linking up to the rest of the Beijing subway line. There are a lot of restaurants in walking distance and it is also a short and cheap cab ride from Sanlitun. The hotel itself was fine, not super nice, but it was cheap enough. Overall I would stay again, particularly for short trips.

Great value in great location”
The Red Hotel provides adequate accommodation in one of Beijing's best areas for foreign visitors. With great restaurants and April Gourmet groceries around the corner, SanLiTun and the metro a short walk away, the location is hard to beat. The hotel is definitely no frills -- no English channels, no breakfast, no in-room fridge; but it's clean, the wi-fi router they give you works well, and staff are friendly and helpful. For $60/night, it's a good deal!

It was just a few hour stay, but we got it all!”
It was just a few hours, as we had to catch a bus to the Great Wall early in the morning, but we had a wonderful time in our room. It was very close to the dongzhimen station, which was perfect for our travel. If you are looking to tour around the city, and make it back to the airport in record time, I would def. make a reservation at this hotel! It was totally worth the money, and a great place for couples as well. Thank you, The Red Hotel!

Clean, cozy, newly renovated room, great location”
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Tatami style, small, but unlike typical chinese rooms it was clean, stylish, newly renovated, with modern furniture, superb confy bed, tidy bathroom with no tiny trace of mold or whatsover. Even it smelled fancy. BUT, no hairdrier is provided so you have to ask for it at the reception. The staff was friendly and responded to all the requests immediately. A perfect place for couple of nights stay to take rest after a busy day. It is very close to Dongzhimen subway and airport express station, so YOU DON'T PAY OVER 35 RMB FOR A TAXI RIDE FROM THE STATION. I got cheated badly by a nasty cab driver who convinced me to pay double just because it was raining. Lots of restaurant around the place, seems like the district gets busy with night life, but still doesn't get noisy during quiet hours.

Good value, great location”
Staff were helpful and polite. Room was comfortable, clean and kept clean. Breakfast was just OK but was included in the room price which is often not the case in China. I would definitely come back.

the best hotel we had”
We are so overwhelmed about how courteous and warm the staff were. They provided dus with all our needs, taxi service, wine cork, champagne glasses. The staff in that hotel (with lift) were just awesome and perfect. Most of them spoke English. We will always go back there.

Above average”
Value for the price of the room was good (book online to save), but the hotel was a 15 minute walk from the closest subway station (Dongzhimen). We selected the Red hotel because it was close to family, but there are probably better hotels for the money. Firstly, the tatami room was supposed to have a king bed, as advertised, but was a full mattress. There was very little room to move around. Thankfully, we had a native Mandarin speaker to help with check-in, as the staff spoke little English. This was not unexpected, but is worth noting for foreign travelers. The air conditioning was weak but present. Overall, the room suited our basic needs and was relatively inexpensive, but was not what was promised in the photos. For these reasons, I would not recommend it to friends.

Best hotel out of a bad lot”
Having just arrived from Thailand I was used to seeing hotel ratings of normally 7+/10. Most hotels in Beijing hover around the 5/10 mark or less so I knew I would have to accept a drop in standards. Hotel is clean and the room was quite comfortable, but no frills. Fast WiFi. Miserable staff - but that's the norm in China. Miserable is fine, I can cope with that, in other hotels staff cross the line between being miserable and just being pro-actively rude. But staff at this hotel were just good old fashioned miserable, not offensive. Hotel cafe grossly overpriced. $6 US for a coffee??!! No English TV channels, CNN or BBC news would be nice. Hotel should impose an automatic fine on domestic guests who SPIT LOUDLY. Like really making that *haching* sound before spitting. How utterly disgusting. It sadly became an all-too-common background noise during my stay. Why can't these people learn some manners?

Lack of English speaking staff.”
The main issue at the hotel was the staffs lack of English. In booking our trip to the Great Wall, it took three tries and lots of pointing at the area we wanted (even thou they had this on the tour package sign) till we got the right Great Wall area we wanted.
