Westin Beijing (Financial Street) has been on the top of my list for best hotels since I first stayed there in 2007. Fortunately, I stayed with them again in this Feb, and I was extremely satisfied with their sophiticated service, and well-designed room. In addition, my additional requests were responded efficiently, e.g. courier service, stay extension without changing room. Westin Beijing (Financial street) is highly recommended for any kinds of travellers!

What you would expect from the Brand but...”
...the location really only makes it an option for business travel (i.e. you happen to be working in the Financial District). There really is not much around in terms of entertainment/food/transportation. Also the area, including the hotel bar, was eerily empty (which was uprising considering all the Chinese New Year Events going on.) Even when to the Ritz to see if they had more of a night life...I must have missed the memo... Again, room was clean and staff was friendly...what one would expect from the Brand. If I was on a business trip, I probably would have given it an extra star.

Convenient, reasonably priced, nice breakfast”
Ok, better suited for business travelers. Though it has a shopping mall nearby, stuff are very high-end and expensive. It takes at least 15-20 minutes to travel to the main shopping areas at Beijing. Cited in the middle of the financial centre of Beijing so it's great for business purposes. But it takes quite far to walk to the MTR and so taxi is the main means of transport.

Sloppy Hotel in Strategic Location”
The hotel is in the heart of banking district where I need to attend meetings. So choice was limited. I booked the hotel for two nights with my wife at exubitant price. We were given the worse lower floor rooms right next to the lifts. The reception and services were indifferent as most travelers are on business. When I return to the hotel for a short after lunch break, I found two cleaners smoking and chatting sitting on our bed! It is not a hotel I would return to and I left as soon as I finished business and change to a much more comfortable and reasonably priced hotel which are plenty in Beijing.

The fact that the gym is closed should've been disclosed prior to customer making the booking. Had I known in advance, I would've chosen another hotel as gym access is important.

i expected a nice room, a great spa area to relax and hang out. I experienced, okay rooms that are already used for several years, small tv screens, bad bathroom layout, air conditioning could not be adjusted the way I need it, it was hot and dry during night and I woke up coughing. The spa is old and boring, sauna small for maximum of 4 people, steam bath under renovation, looked a bit dirty as well for the price, this hotel does not offer enough. wont go their again.

Not 5 star quality ”
It's not 5 star service. No one picked up my suitcase from the taxi. They gave me the wrong room upon check-in (a smaller room of 40sqm, but I had booked a 60 sqm room)! The room smelled mouldy. The iron in the room did not work. The flower vase in the bathroom was leaking and got my bag and its contents all wet. Certain staff were not friendly.
