The Good: - pretty hotel design: the hotel is very beautifully designed and decorated, very comfortable. Spaces are also very well-ventilated in a hot country - breakfast is alright: food is better compared to other hotel breakfasts - many hiking spots nearby: if you're looking to integrate hiking into the majority of your trip, this is a great hotel to crash at, there're many hiking spots (mountain views, a lighthouse, beaches) in walking distance - great staff: very hospitable and receptive to requests. i was lost looking for my room and a staff actually guided me all the way. i'm very appreciative of this experience. staff also made sure our room was tidy after requesting for room make up - free parking: there're plenty of free parking spots within and outside the hotel compound. though weigh your pros and cons before deciding to park in a shade under the tree, my car ended up being littered by plant debris The Bad: - bad room sound proofing: sounds from the pool - children screaming, waterfall, people laughing - can be heard from the room even though it's some distance. my sleep was interrupted plenty during the afternoon - little privacy: the toilet has a vent for a window, and the one actual window we have in the room can be viewed from outside by passersby. for this reason i don't recommend spending honeymoons at this hotel - unexpected fees: while the heritage tax only costs RM2/day, I was caught off guard when I was told I needed to pay more on top of my already paid trip. It would be great if it was listed on the page somewhere - unclean beach: the beach directly in front of the hotel is not clean, my pants were stained black by some kind of ash (may be oil spills washed ashore by boats and ships) after stepping into that part of the beach. however, the side of the beach on the far end was a lot cleaner and enjoyable, so i recommend that side instead - careful when bringing food inside: ants were crawling on some counters in the room, so be sure not to leave food out. putting them in the fridge is recommended
