Soviet style guesthouse with no staff”

very poor. No staff to help out, no towels, toilet didn't work and nobody to fix it. beds were very uncomfortable. Look for somewhere else before booking this one.

Good location, good view, nothing else good.”

First the good news: It is located right by the fountain circle, which masquerades as the centre of downtown Champasak, but in fact the town has declined so much that it is just a long loose straggle of crumbling buildings. There was a lovely sunrise view over the Mekong from our room. Now the bad news: We arrived with our Agoda booking at 3pm, but the staff did not appear to be expecting us. We had booked a double but were given a twin, which had not yet been made up. We then had to stop the woman from simply re-making the beds with the linen used by the previous guests, and eventually got clean sheets and pillowcases. The furniture was old and tired, the mattresses felt like they were filled with broken rocks, and the pillows were wafer-thin. We had two very poor nights of sleep. The bathroom was OK, but the water heater was installed so high on the wall that I had to stretch full height to adjust the shower temperature, and my wife couldn’t get remotely close to it. The restaurant food is OK, but best to order about an hour before you get hungry, and that’s even when there are no other diners in that huge space. We hired their bikes, which were pretty rattly, but they got us to Wat Phu and back. Hard saddles, sore backsides. In summary, the place is a dump.

The staff is very nice and the guesthouse is perfectly located (view on the Mekong). Our room was a bit dirty.

the guesthouse is at a top location and offers a terrace with river view. Unfortunately the room was dirty when I arrived: I don´t mind some stains on walls or some dust under the bed. BUT the toilet was just unbelievable dirty and the bed sheet was dirty and obviously has not been changed at least since the last guest had moved out! I politely asked the 3 young women who were looking after the guest house to clean the toilet (I didn´t asked for the whole bathroom that could have used some cleaning as well) and they cleaned the toilet and used the same brush to wipe the toilet seat right afterwards. I asked them to change the bed sheet and they removed the sheet but would not bring another one! After I told them that I would like to sleep on a bed sheet they brought back the same dirty sheet and put it back on the bed! I kept my chargers in a small silver bag that had disappeared from my room after I returned in the evening.

Did not like Champasak ”

Although I'd booked on Agoda, I was not expected and Guesthouse was filled. Because I'd booked on Agoda, a room was created for me: barren. Proprietor was nowhere to be found when I arrived - finally was directed to him by tourist office - he was at restaurant next door. He was nice man speaking a little English. However, I missed doing the only thing I would have enjoyed (taking bike across the river and exploring villages) because no one (even though I asked anyone who would listen what there was to do) told me about it and it was not mentioned in my guidebook. Found Vat Phao underwhelming, but others did like it for the historical connection.

Not many travelers stay in the city. A room was so quiet, relax and view Mekong river. There was an restaurant in the hotel. They have local and western food in the terace. There were bycicles.

the room was spacious and reasonably clean. next to the river with an outside seating area. free coffee which is nice. hot water and laundry service. however if you don't like mice then give it a miss. i didn't mind them but found one had fallen in the toilet and had to rescue it. overall a good budget hotel you get what you pay for people. maybe they should let their very hungry cats into the rooms once a week that might sort out the problem. you will need a little bit of thai to get by here. if yu want to get back to old lao this is the place to be

Dull, grimy and shoddy room ”

We spent two nights exploring the wonderful tranquil village of Champasak during our stay at the guesthouse. A nice, sleepy village with a couple of decent restaurants and a very friendly guy at the visitor information. We went to Wat Phou, a UNESCO Heritage site, which is fantastic and a great day out on a bicycle from Champasak. Our guesthouse was on first impressions satisfactory, however the longer we stayed the worst it became. The mosquito guards on the windows were very poor, the bathroom had not been cleaned for a while and was infested with ants. We were woken by a cockroach one night and bedbugs the next! The beds were not comfy and we were glad to say goodbye after two days.

Breathtaking VIews of the Mekong”

Arrived after a dusty journey from Pakse following a long overnight trip from Pattaya to Ubon, then the International Bus from Ubon to Pakse. Champasak Guesthouse is small with a substantial restaurant which was closed for a wedding. There is a very good restaurant at the guesthouse about 100 metres further along. The guesthouse is basic, small and pleasant.The bathroom could have had better water pressure but overall the stay was enjoyable and good value for money. The owner will exchange Thai Baht for you but everywhere accepts both currencies and most US$ as well.

Perfectley Good guest House and Good Value”

good basic guest house. i was a single person in a room with 3 single beds. good clean room and bathroom. free coffee on offer. no wifi but it can be got in town. the owner does bicycle hire and runs a new restaurant next door but makes no effort to promote either service. if you are visiting wat phou champasak is worth a stay if not i would leave it out as there is nothing in champasak.

Lovely place in the enter of town; big clean rooms”

champasak guesthouse is a nice place in the sleepy champasak town. the guesthouse is quiet like the rest of the lethargic town, but that's what people come here for, so don't expect a pulsating party. people come here to chill; gather ones thoughts, observe and watch the mekong flow by. my room is spacious and very clean, although the bed's a little harder than what i'd prefer, but it isn't bad at all - just a personal preference. the bathroom is also spacious, dry, nice glistening tiles; warm shower when you need one. the guesthouse has 8 rooms; i stayed in room 3 facing the mekong. no television, but then i didn't go there to watch tv. there's no front desk to speak of, but the affable owner is always available when you need information, a good conversation (speaks good english), or you want to hire a motorbike to visit tomo temple or wat phu champasak. he even offered me a bicycle - for free - just to roam the town. the same guy owns the beautiful, wind-swept chamapask restaurant just beside the guesthouse, fronting the roundabout fountain in the center of town. you can sit there for hours and watch the locals go about their daily lives. i loved staying here. ask the owner foryour transport needs or transfers (to pakse or the islands of siphandon).

Une blague! A fuir!!!”

Nous sommes arrivés à la gesthouse aux alentours de midi et surprise la gesthouse était complètement vide!!! Personne présent à la réception, des chambres grandes ouvertes, des détritus sur la table, bref un accueil peu accueillant. Nous avons attendus 1 heure, personne n'étant apparu, nous sommes allé à Vat Phou a l'aide d'une autre gesthouse. À notre retour (17heure), toujours personne!! Puis succession de deux femmes dont pas une ne parlant le moindre mot d'anglais, ni ne connaissait le sourire. On fini par nous montrer une chambre grande ouverte, très odorante, très sale et peu engageante. Au final, nous avons marché 100m et avons trouvé une autre sympathique gesthouse. À fuir selon nous

A fuire c'est ridicule ”

Personne ne parle 1 mot d'anglais, on s'appelle donc Agoda quand on arrive. Pourquoi ne pas nous dire au moins bonjour en Lao ? La chambre est vendue climatisée : la clim ne fonctionne pas. Le petit déjeuner commandé la veille en écrivant l'heure sur un papier à été fait 1/2h trop tard donc à l'heure où passait le bus. Ils n'ont fait payer que 10000 kips pour le café quand-même ! Propreté ok mais l'entretien laisse à désirer, il pleuvait à grosses gouttes dans la salle de bain par le plafond.

Déconseille fortement”

On a payé via agoda une chambre pour 3 16e. On arrive avec un couple qui n'avais pas réservé et ils ont payés 40000 kip (4€!!!!!!). On arrive la chambre n'a que 2 lits, ils ont rajoutés un matelat sur le sol ...... La guest house fermé à 21h30 .......... .. Je la déconseille vivement. Surtout pour le prix qu'on paye sur le site et le prix affiché sur place (60 000 Kip sans negociation). Pleins d'autres guest house dans la rue
